FringeEpisode Title: "The Box"

Written By: Josh Singer & Graham Roland

The Story: In "The Box," we return once more to the familiar land of "over here" as the Fringe team stumbles upon a mysterious box that sends nearby people into a fatal trance. Walter (John Noble) struggles to solve the problem, while simultaneously dealing with his strained relationship with his son (Joshua Jackson) and the reading of William Bell's (Leonard Nimoy) will.

Meanwhile, Peter further solidifies his relationship with Olivia (Anna Torv), but this isn't the woman he thinks she is... Read more...

Last fall, Ronald Emmerich kicked us news that not only did he still have plans for an "Independence Day" sequel, but that he had ideas for two sequels, and LOL-worthy titles for each: "ID4-ever: Part I" and "ID4-ever: Part II."

When we checked in with the director in February of this year as he was promoting the DVD for "2012," we asked for some "ID4-ever" plot details. And, much to our surprise, he delivered. Yet we haven't published Emmerich's thoughts until now. Sorry! First off, he describes the story — which would be set in the present day, over a decade after the alien invasion of the original film — as an "alternate reality" film.

"It's an alternate reality kind of movie," he said. "We pick up the story, what would have happened after this kind of attack? Naturally, the alien technology has changed everything." Read more...

Let Me InIn honor of the October 1 release of "Let Me In," we're going to let YOU in on a little secret: New Yorkers who hit up the 7:20 p.m. showing of the vampire flick at the Loews Lincoln Square on Saturday, October 2, will be treated to a post-screening Q&A with director Matt Reeves moderated by MTV's Josh Horowitz.

In case you're not familiar with "Let Me In," it's based on the acclaimed Swedish film "Let the Right One In," about a bullied 12-year-old boy who finds his soul mate in an ages-old vampire who happens to be trapped in the body of a young girl.

This is the prime opportunity to ask Reeves all of your burning questions about vampire genitalia (if you've seen the original, you know what we're talking about), working with "Kickass" Hit Girl Chloe Moretz (she's the vamp) and "The Road" Boy Kodi Smit-McPhee (he's the bullied kid), and anything else your brain can conjure. When fans of Baz Luhrmann heard that he was up for directing a new-millennium film version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic "The Great Gatsby," let's just say there was an excited shout of joy, collectively. And then when it was rumored that "Romeo + Juliet" star Leonardo DiCaprio might be up for Gatsby, well let's just say wowza! So, when MTV News caught up with Baz at "The Social Network" premiere we tried to get some updates on the project.

"The rumors are out! I've got two going. One is a musical and one is a period work, both based in New York City, and I'm about to make that decision. I've got the script for both of them and I'm making that decision in four to six weeks, no longer than six weeks," he teased, adding that "Gatsby" had no plans to add some singing. "Singing 'Gatsby'? No! 'Gatsby,' it is the Fitzgerald book and I've been working on that quite a lot. The other one is also New York based and music-driven and it's just a question of ... what is the next right step for me." Read more...

Shia LaBeoufFrankie Muniz was not amused today about a statement from Shia LaBeouf in which the "Wall Street 2" star said that many of his films could have swapped Muniz into his roles and still been hits. It was an odd comment, but Muniz cleared the air with his own thoughts on the matter.

In other tweets, the deaths of Greg Giraldo and Tony Curtis put dampers on a lot of moods. Steve Martin, James Gunn and others contributed to the collective obituaries for the comedian and actor, though Gunn's memories may be pretty unique in the scheme of things. Find out why after the jump along with one volunteer to take Rahm Emanuel's seat in the White House and why Chloe Moretz had to do some trapeze training.

In case you're one of the 11 people who hasn't read "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" or seen the latest freaking awesome trailer for "Deathly Hallows - Part 1," three new character posters have arrived to drive home just how dark, action-packed and thrilling the saga's two-part finale is going to be.

Each of the series' three main heroes -- Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson) and Ron (Rupert Grint) -- get their own banners, and all look equally scared out of their Hogwarts-loving minds. Though the backdrop of each poster reveals that the characters are at different, far-reaching spots across the globe, all three pals have their wands drawn, look bruised and battered, and bear the same expression of intense suspicion on their countenances. The images mesh perfectly with the accompanying tagline: "Nowhere is safe." We're sold... and we can't wait for "Part 1" to bow on November 19.

Check out the Harry poster below, then head over to our "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" photo gallery to see Ron and Hermione's equally badass banners, as well as a slew of other images from the film.

Tony Curtis in 1970Sad news out of Hollywood today: Screen legend Tony Curtis passed away in his Las Vegas home on Wednesday night at the age of 85, a victim of cardiac arrest.

Curtis was renowned on-screen for his machismo-oozing performance in "Spartacus" and his iconic cross-dressing turn in "Some Like It Hot"; off-screen he was known for his suave ways with the ladies -- he was married six times, most famously to Janet Leigh (with whom he had daughter Jamie Lee Curtis), and wooed the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Natalie Wood. In short, Curtis lived a life that could very well have been (and likely one day will be) a movie.

Curtis maybe gone, but his legacy lives on. After the jump, we count down his five finest roles. Read more...

Remember James Frey, author of "A Million Little Pieces"? Yeah, he's the guy Oprah ripped a new one for passing that off as a memoir when it was mostly fiction. Turns out, making stuff up is a good talent to have: "I Am Number Four," the best-selling sci-fi novel Frey subsequently co-wrote with Jobie Hughes, is bound for the big screen courtesy of "Disturbia" director DJ Caruso. And its interest-piquing new trailer just debuted on Yahoo.

The plot centers on nine infant aliens who are sent to Earth when their planet is destroyed, develop super powers and are hunted by the Mogadorians (the evil guys who trashed their home). Hmm ... sounds eerily similar to this little movie we once saw called "Superman 2." But, hey, we loved that flick, so we're not complaining. Read more...

InceptionThat ringing you hear in your ears right now -- that's the nifty spoiler alert we have here at MTV. And it's sounding because Sir Michael Caine has gone ahead and cleared up any ambiguity there is about the ending of this summer's best and most mind-melting movie, "Inception."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Caine -- who the plays dream-world inventor and Leonard DiCaprio's father-in-law/mentor in the film -- recently divulged all in an interview with BBC Radio. "[The spinning top] drops at the end, that's when I come back on," he says. "If I'm there it's real, because I'm never in the dream. I'm the guy who invented the dream." In other words, since the spinning top -- which would keep spinning if it's a dream and fall if it's not -- drops, DiCaprio's Dom Cobb does get his happy ending, and not in a dirty massage-parlor kind of way; he gets to be with his kids instead of just seemingly finding them in a dream within a dream within a dream (or something like that). Britney Spears on GleeTwitter-Wood mourned the passing of "Bonnie and Clyde" director Arthur Penn today. Penn Jillette, who starred in Penn's "Penn and Teller Get Killed," offered his reactions to the news in a post, as did director Edgar Wright.

In lighter topics, the Britney Spears episode of "Glee" last night generated a lot of buzz; it also generated pictures on John Stamos' account and an intimidated reaction to Jane Lynch's performance from Spears. You'll find those posts and Kirstie Alley's defense of Michael Bolton on "Dancing with the Stars" down below, along with scandalous image from Russell Brand.
