Today is Friday the 13th, which means anything that can go wrong will go wrong — black is white, up is down, pigs can fly, and all of these oddities will culminate in your demise in an epic "Final Destination" inspired display of gory awfulness.

Alright, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration. But for the superstitious readers out there, you may want to consider being a little bit extra careful on this supposedly unlucky day. For example, while we would rarely encourage you to take cues from your favorite action heroes and act in dangerous and brash fashion, today is one day where you really don't want to step out of line — again, if you believe in superstition, that is.

So, in the name of speaking to that crowd, we're offering a little bit of advice on what not to do on Friday the 13th based on our horror movie watching experience. Check out our thoughts past the jump! Read More...

I saw "The Last Exorcism" yesterday afternoon not sure of what to expect. Eli Roth so famous for gore-filled works like "Hostel" and "Cabin Fever" produced. Relative newcomers Daniel Stamm and Huck Botko/Andrew Gurland directed and wrote, respectively. (NOTE: Minor spoilers ahead. If you want to maintain the mystery, just hit play on the clip.)

How awesome then that I was pleasantly surprised to watch as this creepy mock-documentary unfolded. The story follows a non-believing preacher who provides exorcism as a service that he sees as something akin to a psychotherapy session. Events in his life lead him to the realization that he needs to stop, and he decides to film his last exorcism as a documentary, the better to expose things as they really are. Things do not go according to plan.

All of this comes out in the opening minutes of the film. Any other details are best left to a first-time viewing. Exorcism stories have been done, but Botko and Gurland cooked up some fresh, unexpected plot twists to keep things moving and Stamm provides an overall level of creepiness that becomes increasingly unsettling as we hurtle into the film's final, shocking scene. The clip below occurs fairly early but definitely sets a tone. Maybe the good preacher ought to have listened...

The much-loved Looney Tunes have rightly been invisible for the past bunch of years. The 2003 live action/CG hybrid "Looney Tunes: Back in Action" starring Brendan Fraser... wasn't particularly good. That's okay though! The core group of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and their friends/foes remain as lovable as they've always been. They just needed a well-earned break.

Break's over, kids. Deadline reports that Warner Bros has hired "Elf" writer David Berenbaum to script a new Bugs-centered live action/CG feature. From the sound of things, the film will share the name of its star: "Bugs Bunny." The news comes in the midst of a new push for more Looney Tunes from WB. A trilogy of animated 3-D shorts are in the offing; the first is already out there, having played in front of "Cats & Dogs 2." The other two are coming soon enough; one will play in front of Zack Snyder's September release "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" and the other will be paired with "Yogi Bear," which arrives in December.

Are you a fan of classic Looney Tunes? What do you think of this sudden resurgence?

It was bound to happen eventually. People love physical humor too much. "Jackass" is coming back, and it's hopping on the 3-D bandwagon. "Jackass 3-D" arrives in theaters this October, and if the trailer is any indication, fans can expect the same cringe-inducing stunts that they've come to love... only this time it'll all be seen in three dimensions. MTV spoke to "Jackass" star and creator Johnny Knoxville and co-creator Jeff Tremaine at San Diego Comic-Con a few weeks ago, and they very excited to share one thing in particular in this movie: Party Boy's wang.

"Party Boy won't be scary. He'll be very, very sexy," Knoxville said. "He got rid of that itchy thong for 3-D." Tremaine added, "We lost the thong so the 3-D could really come at you. The clothes finally come off."

It's not all homoerotic reveals though. The "Jackass" creators promise plenty of actual stunt work as well, the life-threatening sort of stuff that fans have come to expect from the series. Read More...

If you like good movies and you've seen the trailer, it's hard to be anything less than TOTALLY FREAKING STOKED for the fall release of David Fincher's Facebook biopic, "The Social Network." In fact... why don't we take a look at that slice of kickass again?

Ahhh. Love it. Especially with that Radiohead-singing choir behind it. But did you know that Twitter and YouTube both have equally gripping stories to tell. That's what a pair of new mock-up trailers would have you believe, anyway. Check 'em out after the jump. Read More...

Chapter 24. That's roughly the point at which part one of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" will end.

Ever since it was first revealed that the big screen adaptation of "Deathly Hallows" would be split into two parts, fans have been guessing at exactly where the break would fall. No need to wonder anymore though. "Potter" fansite Muggle Net got an early peek at an upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly, which says that the split happens "at about Chapter 24 of the book, with Voldemort gaining possession of the Elder Wand, one of the three Deathly Hallows that allow the bearer to conquer death."

Now all that's really left for fans to do is wait. Part one of "Deathly Hallows" arrives later this year, on November 19. The series concludes the following summer, on July 15, 2011.

"The Expendables" is out in theaters today! Writer/director/star Sylvester Stallone's throwback to '80s action is packed with stars. Jason Statham. Jet Li. Mickey Rourke. DOLPH LUNDGREN. (that's not a typo-- every letter in Dolph's name is as important as the one before it) There are also a couple of notable cameos, from Stallone's fellow action stars of old Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Their time in the movie is short, but see that trio together on screen for the first time... it's something special.

Schwarzenegger has been absent from the movies world for a long time of course, ever since he became California's Gubernator. He's been upping his profile more and more recently, leading many to believe that the former action icon will be returning to acting when his term of office ends next year. He certainly seems to be enjoying himself in "The Expendables." Stallone told MTV as much in a recent interview. And after the jump you can see the two having some fun together in today's Daily TwitPic. Read More...

Let's face it, we don't always make the best decisions when drinking. But when a group of friends head out to the countryside for some drunken fun, they find out just how bad a decision pranking under the influence can be when they're forced to fight for their lives against a family of revenge-fueled rednecks in director David Harris' indie-horror film "Savage County."

Harris originally started filming "Savage County" as a series of 7-9 minute webisodes, but the project soon grew into a full-fledged film. The trailer for the movie hit the web earlier today and MTV has set up a Demand It page for the movie. Once 100,000 fans show their support of the film on the site, MTV will air the movie on television.

"The whole thing in general is going a lot better and a lot faster than we hoped," Harris said. "I've been blown away that so many people are so excited about it. We got 33,000 views on the trailer this morning alone, so I'm glad that people are down for a little low budget horror." Read More...

Wes Craven must be a fan of method acting, judging from the way he's been treating Hayden Panettiere and Emma Roberts on the "Scream 4" set. He documented his endeavors in a tweet yesterday, but we'll have to wait until the film comes out to see if he helped them get into their parts.

Elsewhere, New York Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez was arrested on Wednesday night. No matter what happens, though, at least one Hollywood writer is sticking up for him. You can find out who that is after the jump, as well as what Arnold Schwarzenegger has been getting up to with the "Expendables" cast and what may have killed "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" director Edgar Wright by the time you read this.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is Twitter-Wood for August 12, 2010. Read More...
