We've got a ton of coverage from last week's/weekend's "Star Wars" Celebration V, thanks to the hard work of MTV's own Laurel Woods. Today I've got a cool photo gallery to share. Ralph McQuarrie may not be a name you recognize immediately, but if you enjoy anything about the look of the "Star Wars" universe, it's because of him. McQuarrie is the conceptual artist behind all of the designs in the original trilogy, an aesthetic which of course carried into the more recent prequel trilogy. At Celebration V a number of his works were on display -- some of them never-before-seen -- to the delight of fans. Check out our gallery by clicking the image below.

December is going to be an amazing month. Disney unleashes "TRON: Legacy" on the world on December 17. Then, a week later, Joel and Ethan Coen follow up last year's amazing "A Serious Man" with an adaptation of Charles Portis' 1968 novel "True Grit." The book has already been adapted once before, in a movie starring John Wayne and Glen Campbell. The Coens' version, which stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and feature newcomer Hailee Stanfield, is said to fall closer to the book than the 1969 film. It's impossible to tell from this newly released image, but it's great to see Bridges wearing that eyepatch. Can't wait for December 25.

Mars. The Red Planet. If there are or were aliens anywhere in this solar system, that's the place they'd be. The planet once had an atmosphere, roughly 4 billion years ago, as well as active waterways. It is lifeless now (as far as we know), but it is also unique within this solar system as a world that is potentially habitable. At the very least, it is one that is worth exploring more thoroughly. It is no surprise then that "Avatar" filmmaker James Cameron is hooked in with NASA's plans to further explore the fourth planet in our solar system, as he told MTV's Kara Warner during a recent interview.

"I'm actually on the team developing the new camera for the Mars Science Laboratory, which launches next year," he said. "Theoretically, we will have a motion-image stereoscopic camera on the surface of Mars in 2011, and it will be making the first 3-D movie on Mars — well, it's not really a movie, but we'll be taking motion shots." I truly hope that Joaquin Phoenix comes out to do press for "I'm Still Here," Casey Affleck's doc about him, completely fresh-faced and clean-cut. Because the Joaquin on display in the below trailer for the film is anything but. Rather, it's the scraggly, wild-haired, sunglasses-wearing loon we've come to know over the past year-plus. The doc is supposed to be pretty bizarre; we'll all find out when it hits theaters in September.

Never trust the birds. Alfred Hitchcock knew that. He tried to warn us even. Did we listen? No. They're descended from dinosaurs, people. Dinosaurs! Those beady little eyes, they gleam with a hunger for human flesh.

That's probably why today's Daily TwitPic features Neil Gaimain trying to commune with one. A lorikeet, if his associated tweet is accurate. This is the guy who wrote "The Sandman" and "American Gods," so it's not surprising that he's trying to charm a tropical bird into doing his bidding. Amusingly, Gaiman and Kevin Smith both tweeted the photo, which suggests that Smith was the shooter and they were probably dining together. Does this mean that the "Cop Out" director is in on Gaiman's plan to take over the world with his tropical bird armies? Read More...

It's been an exciting few days if you're a "Potter" fan. Just a few days ago we learned that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" will be split at roughly chapter 24. Now, Warner Bros. has released a slew of photos for the self-proclaimed "motion picture of a generation" to excite fans even further.

It's hard to tell which film these photos will be from, but don't let that minor detail hinder the excitement surrounding photos from the last book's films.

Check out blood, romance and much more pictured in our "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" photo gallery, and feel free to express your excitement in the comments below.

Luckily for all of us, "Deathly Hallows Part 1" isn't too far off. With the film releasing just three months from now on November 19, we can expect much from the film to whet our appetites.

Then, the second half concludes an excruciating eight months later on July 15, 2011.

Tila Tequila walked into a flurry of rocks and bottles on-stage at the Insane Clown Posse's Gathering of the Juggalos this year. James Gunn and Horatio Sanz both took notice and offered their thoughts via tweets. "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," meanwhile, didn't draw nearly as negative a critical reception over the weekend, but its $10.5 million haul at theaters fell short of expectations. Edgar Wright and Mark Webber still appreciated every one of those tickets though.

Below, you'll find their shout-outs, as well as an odd photo exchange between Kevin Smith and Neil Gaiman, Marlon Wayans' stance on WWE and more.

Rooney MaraRooney Mara is Lisbeth Salander in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," ending weeks upon weeks of speculation surrounding the coveted part in director David Fincher's developing adaptation of the late Stieg Larsson's popular crime novel. But Mara isn't exactly a household name — indeed, none of her rumored competitors were, with the exception of Natalie Portman — but perhaps that level of anonymity will actually serve her as the young actress sinks her teeth into Lisbeth, a deliciously dark and nuanced character who assists Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) in his quest to solve a 40-year-old investigation.

But Mara isn't an entirely unknown quantity. In fact, she has two high profile film roles that will prove crucial to her work on "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" — the recent "Nightmare on Elm Street" reboot and the upcoming "The Social Network." Read More...

Starting in the middle of last week and continuing on through the weekend, fans of a galaxy far, far away descended on Orlanda, Florida for "Star Wars" Celebration V. A lot of crazy happenings went down, from "Star Wars"-inspired speed dating to the (temporary) closing of Disney's "Star Tours" ride to the long-awaited announcement of a "Star Wars" Blu-ray release. MTV's Laurel Woods braved Florida's brutal August heat/humidity to bring back reports straight from the show floor. Here we have Laurel's impressions from the show's so-called Main Event, a one-on-one conversation between George Lucas and Jon Stewart.

The Force was strong with me this past weekend, as I was able to score a press pass to the Main Event at "Star Wars" Celebration V in Orlando, Florida. My head is still buzzing from all the excitement. The live event took place at 11am Saturday morning in the Chapin Theater at the Orange County Convention Center. The space seats just 2600 people, in comparison to the approximately 35,000 in attendance at Celebration. Read More...

Following weeks of speculation, it's official: Rooney Mara has joined the cast of David Fincher's adaptation of Stieg Larsson's novel, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," a studio press release confirms. Mara takes the lead female role of Lisbeth Salander, the Asperger's-afflicted computer hacker at the center of the story.

Mara beat out a number of big names for the part. It was originally reported that Fincher very much wanted Natalie Portman for the role, but for whatever reason -- most likely her own busy schedule -- the offer was declined. A number of other names have popped up since then. Mara's name emerged among a list of reported contenders that also included Emily Browning, Sarah Snook, Sophie Lowe, Lea Seydoux and, most recently, Scarlett Johansson. Mara got the gig though; she's a great choice, striking the right balance between a recognizable name and the young up-and-comer "type" that Fincher supposedly wanted. Mara joins star Daniel Craig, who was previously confirmed for the male lead role of Mikael Blomkvist.

What do you think of the casting? Is Mara the right person to play Salander?
