Back in June, "The Other Guys" star Mark Wahlberg had some interesting news for MTV about HBO's "Entourage," which he executive produces. Explaining that he is "more focused on making that movie than my own films," Wahlberg went on to reveal that the plan is for a six-episode mini-season next year, to be followed by a movie.
Now that information has been doubly confirmed, by HBO's president of programming Michael Lombardo. Speaking at the just-concluded Television Critics Association press tour, he confirmed that "Entourage" will end next summer, with the hoping being for a movie to follow the series. "Doug clearly wants to write a film but wants to do it if it makes sense for the story," Lombardo said. "We have a long-term relationship with Doug Ellin, and I'm sure you'll soon see another series from him here. But next summer will definitely be the final season of 'Entourage.'" (via Deadline)
