You might remember reading reports a few weeks ago about the next film for the Wachowski siblings, who so famously set the bar higher for dystopian science fiction in 1999 with "The Matrix." A title emerged, and rumors of the basic plot, but little else. The word is that the story focuses on a homosexual relationship between a U.S. soldier and an Iraqi soldier. Speculation at the time got people thinking that the movie's title, "CN9," was a reference to the brain's 9th cranial nerve. Turns out that wasn't quite the case.
Deadline is now reporting that the title in question is actually "Cobalt Neural 9," though they're still referring to the taboo romance as the basic story for the thing. The news is wrapped up in a larger post about the need for script secrecy in this Internet age, but at least we know what "CN9" means.
