Will Ferrell at the 2010 San Diego Comic-ConBy Ryan Downey

"The Other Guys" isn't based on a comic book. Neither is the source material a video game, toys or a television series. It isn't set in space.

But like Rainn Wilson (who sat on the Hall H stage two hours before), Will Ferrell is a rockstar at Comic-Con, where he joined Mark Wahlberg to talk about their slapstick buddy cop pic.

4:47
Director Adam McKay, Eva Mendes, Wahlberg (cat called at by Mendes!) take the stage, with Ferrell coming in last and pretending to immediately leave before sitting down.

McKay intro'd a clip saying some of it won't be in the movie.

4:55
INSANELY loud laughs during the footage. "It's really sad when you're laughing at your own trailer," Ferrell said afterward. Read More...

Last night's posts coming out of Twitter-Wood were full of glamorous party shots from around San Diego and photo ops with cosplayers from Comic-Con. James Gunn for instance checked out some "Tron" costumes, while David Wain got detained by a couple of Stormtroopers.

Things were going on outside Comic-Con as well, though. Demi Moore took a pic with her "LOL" co-star Miley Cyrus. Bret Easton Ellis laughed at "Inception," and Rich Sommer went to a "Simpsons" read-through. You'll find those retweets and info on who had dinner with Ellen Page after the jump.

"The Expendables" has "summer action blockbuster" written all over it. I say that because the cast is packed with action legends young and old, from writer/director/star/Rambo Sylvester Stallone to the Transporter himself, Jason Statham. Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Steve Austin... it's an ass-kicking cast that kicks ass. MTV's Josh Horowitz, speaking to Stallone at San Diego Comic-Con, learned what a challenge it was to bring this crew all together.

"It is [a tough thing to mount], because these kinds of guys, there's not a lot of them in abundance, especially in the acting world," the "Rocky" star said. "There is in sports but not in our particular chosen profession, so it took awhile to get it together. Most of them have been veterans in their own films, so when you put all these guys together with this kind of muscle power, this kind of ego, it becomes an interesting challenge." Read More...

The show is over folks. The "Saw" franchise, after six successful big screen outings -- with a seventh still coming later this year -- moralizing serial killer Jigsaw is packing it in. Lionsgate has officially announced that "Saw 3-D" will cap off the series with its first eye-popping excursion into the film format that "Avatar" made so popular. Here's a trailer for the October release, filled with all of the creepy/gritty imagery we've grown used to over the years.

Now... how long do you think it will be before Jigsaw appears in his very own prequel?!

Last summer, while Jay Baruchel was slinging magic plasma bolts on the New York City set of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," the actor's mind was still very much involved with slapping hockey pucks. The Canadian-born Baruchel was hard at work putting together a cast for "Goon," a hockey movie he wrote with Evan Goldberg ("Pineapple Express") and which he has described as a "Raging Bull"-style take on the sport.

More than a year later, Baruchel hit the "Sorcerer's" red carpet and had a tantalizing update for us on "Goon." The budget is in place, they're gearing up to shoot in late August or early September and the starring role has been cast.

"We have a bona fide American movie star in the lead," he said. While he wouldn't go so far as to drop the name of the actor, he did drop some hints about the characteristics of his ideal hockey goon. Read More...

This is a big Comic-Con for Paul Giamatti, who will be in San Diego promoting producer David Fincher's "The Goon" as well as the upcoming Jonathan English flick "Ironclad." MTV already brought you the exclusive teaser for "The Goon," and now we have an exclusive sneak peak at the footage that will be shown tonight at the "Ironclad" panel.

The film follows the siege of Rochester castle by King John in the year 1215, with Giamatti playing the king. It's described as a "medieval 'Magnificent Seven' that combines the visceral action of '300' with the impassioned heroism and romance of 'Braveheart,'" which can be seen to some extent in the clip. The first part of the clip shows Giamatti threatening the castle, and then it switches to the siege of the castle -- and a new hairstyle for King John.

If you're here in San Diego, you can check out the full footage at the panel tonight from 8:30 pm PST to 9:30 pm in room 7AB. Filmmakers Jonathan English, Andrew Curtis and Rick Benattar will all be on hand to speak about the film.
