The new "Social Network" trailer is out, and whether they were involved in producing the film or not, Twitter-Wood tweeters took notice of the Facebook movie's newly publicized clips.

Robert Rodriguez's "Machete" has likewise been drawing some attention, and actress Michelle Rodriguez offered her own assessment of her character's look via Twitter today. Check out what she thinks, what "The Hangover" is called in France and what Eli Roth plans to do with the legion of Justin Bieber fans he's attracted after the jump.

There have been many attempts to tell the story of Janis Joplin's too-short life in film. The Big Brother and the Holding Company lead singer died in 1970 at the age of 27. Now, in an interview with FearNET (via The Playlist), "Twilight" producer Wyck Godfrey revealed that he's shepherding the latest attempt at a Janis biopic into existence. What's more, he revealed that "City of God" director Fernando Meirelles will helm the flick and Amy Adams will star. And that's the extent of what he revealed. Rest assured though, we'll be following this one closely.

Rising star Tom Hardy dropped a bit of surprising news upon us at the L.A. "Inception" premiere Tuesday night. The new Mad Max says that production on the anticipated "Mad Max" reboot, "Fury Road," has been pushed back.

"[We've] stopped," Hardy said when asked about the film's progress. "They pushed it back a little bit so I'm not up against it at the moment, so I've lost some weight, that's it." Read more...

I'll admit, I still haven't seen "Predators" yet. A vacation last week got in the way and I was just too jet-lagged for weekend catch-up. It looks marvelously entertaining though, a fun action/sci-fi adventure with a solid cast and big, mean aliens. And I hear it redeems a franchise that was sullied by the one-two punch of "Aliens Vs. Predator" and "AvP: Requiem."

It's inevitable that sequel talk will build momentum in the coming months. The not-huge budget has already been surpassed in worldwide ticket sales, not even a full week after release, and the franchise still has a lot of fans. Fans who won't have to wait however long for their sequel fix. Why? There's a comic! "Predators: Preserve the Game" hit stores yesterday, an officially licensed sequel to the movie from Dark Horse. You can check out the cool cover art after the jump, along with a brief -- spoiler-y, for those who haven't seen the movie -- synopsis. If you CLICK on the cover it'll send you over to our exclusive gallery, giving you a glimpse at the first few pages of the follow-up story! Read more...

Christopher Nolan's "Inception" is getting a lot of hype. Is it deserved? It's hard to say — I have yet to meet a single person who has seen the film that's had anything but glowing reviews to give — but one thing is for sure: hype can be a very, very dangerous thing for a movie.

If fans are in a fever pitch over a film and it fails to meet expectations, that movie — which very well could be a halfway decent movie, or even a good movie — could well go down in flames. On the flip side, if the film hits that super high glass ceiling and even exceeds it, it could go down in history as one of the all time greats. It's all a matter of risk and execution.

Will "Inception" live up to the hype? We'll find out soon enough — but we don't have to wait any longer to find out if other overhyped movies of the 2000s managed to match or surpass their reputations. After the jump, check out some of the most hyped movies of the 2000s! Read more...

Even more great news today for fans of things that kick ass. Deadline reports that the script for Tim Burton's looooooooooooong-gestating adaptation of the supernatural TV series "Dark Shadows" is about to get another draft. The man wielding the pen for this latest shakeup is none other than Seth Grahame-Smith, the author of "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" and "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," both of which are optioned for big screen adaptations.

Burton has been talking about "Dark Shadows" for ages. He wants frequent collaborator Johnny Depp for the lead role of Barnabas Collins. Grahame-Smith follows John August, who wrote the first draft of the script. I wouldn't bet on this being the next thing Burton does, but things definitely seem to be moving closer.

Also, if you haven't read Grahame-Smith's books, you should correct that ASAP. "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" is especially exceptional.

I don't know about you all, but I'm a big fan of awesome things. This new trailer for "The Social Network" is right the hell up there. For starters, we finally get to see some footage to go along with the dialogue we heard in the previous two trailers. It all looks great too, very stylish in that David Fincher way. And the music, a choir-driven cover of Radiohead's "Creep," drives it all home. Great, great stuff. I can't wait to see this movie.

"Tron Legacy" is right at the top of my list of most anticipated movies this year, as it probably is for many of you other readers. The debut trailer kicked the hype up to unmanageable levels for anyone who was a fan of the original film. Presiding over everything is director Joseph Kosinski, a total feature newcomer. It's an interesting choice for Disney to make, putting someone so green on such a large franchise comeback, but their faith certainly seems to be well-placed.

With most of the heavy lifting now completed on "Legacy," Kosinski is busy lining up what he might do next. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that it couldl be "Archangels," a "Bourne"-meets-aliens sci-fi flick with a script from Andrew Will, another newcomer. Ridley and Tony Scott will produce. Kosinski is also developing "The Black Hole," another Disney classic set to be reborn for today's audiences. There's no telling which will come first, but with heavies like Disney and the Scotts backing him, it's clear that people on the inside see a real talent in this young director.

I'm guessing a lot of people read the above headline and let loose a disdainful snort. After all, Brett Ratner takes a lot of blows from the fanperson community. Not always undeserved ones either. Still, the guy's done some fun stuff. He could still deliver an epic blockbuster that makes people shout "f--k yeah!"

The question is, will Hercules be it? Producer Avi Lerner has been trying to get a movie going about the legendary muscleman for some time, and the Los Angeles Times is now reporting that he's talking to Ratner about directing. Lerner is behind many of the classic '80s and '90s action films featuring the likes of Steven Seagal, Chuck Norris, Wesley Snipes and others; he also produced Sylvester Stallone's "Rambo" in 2008. The belief is that his movie version of Hercules would take on that same sort of classic action aesthetic.

Suddenly having Ratner in the mix starts to make a lot more sense. After the jump I consider the potential pluses and minuses of having the "Rush Hour" helmer take on the myth of the Greek demigod. Read more...

"Toy Story 3" is among the best movies we're going to see this summer, closing a tale that Pixar started 15 years ago with the release of their debut feature "Toy Story." All reports so far have indicated that we've seen the end of Woody and Buzz Lightyear's adventures in feature films. That doesn't mean Pixar isn't prepared for things to go another way, however.

TheWrap is reporting that Buzz voice actor Tim Allen is contractually bound to return for more "Toy Story" if another sequel moves forward. I agree with TheWrap's assessment, that this in no way means a fourth movie is coming; it's just a pretty standard contract clause for franchise actors.

No, if Disney/Pixar is considering a fourth "Toy Story" feature, it likely has more to do with the fact that the movie has so far grossed more than $500 million worldwide.
