Isaiah Mustafa isn't a household name, but you've no doubt seen the man's work. Let me break it down for you: look at your television screen. Now back to me. Now back to your television screen. There's a man on a horse. Back to me. That man is the Old Spice Guy, better known as Isaiah Mustafa. Everything's better when you can put a name to the face.
Already a hit thanks to his work in those commercials, Mustafa's going the distance with his own YouTube Channel, fielding questions from fans and even pitching himself as a candidate to play Luke Cage in a Marvel Studios film — which, in all honesty, is an utterly awesome idea.
Even if Mustafa as Cage doesn't pan out, at the very least this guy needs a major Hollywood gig, pronto. To expedite the process a bit, we're pitching a few Mustafa-centric ideas after the jump! Read more...

Once again, "Inception" is out today. I've written that several time in the past bunch of hours, but it's sort of relevant to this post so I'm reminding you again. It's a remarkably complex film. You'll definitely walk out knowing what you just saw, but you'll also fully recognize that there's more to be understood from a second viewing. Or a third. Or a tenth.
Now that you all get to see it, and many of you assuredly will this weekend, I want to hear what you think. There's a slight twist though. I want you to share your reviews with us on Twitter. Can you summarize your thoughts on "Inception" in 140 characters or less? Less than that even, since you'll need to tweet @MTVMoviesBlog. The only caveat: I want these tweets to have some substance. No "OMG THE MOVIE WAS AMAZING." Be creative. You all are good at that, I know you won't let me down. Enjoy the weekend "Inception" festivities-- I look forward to hearing what you all think!

"Inception" is out today. You know this. I've been crowing about it all day. All week. The whole Internet has. It is freaking fantastic. Some critics disagree, and that's cool. In my own opinion though, it is director Christopher Nolan's finest effort to date.
I've intentionally avoided the more spoiler-y stories this week, the ones that ponder elements from the movie. You should all go see it and judge it by its own merits. I don't think it's any mystery anymore though that (minor spoiler alert) the movie deals with dreams. Film and TV is rife with cool dream sequences, but the ones featured in "Inception" definitely carve their own unique space in the realm of such things.
Still, there are some classic dream sequences out there. A few of which I've chosen to highlight in this blog post as my favorites. Read on, then share your own in the comments section below! Read more...

We've been quiet on the Mel Gibson front here on MTV Movies Blog. Not for lack of material of course; more for being a loss as to how this recent turn of events should be digested. While I would have preferred to think of Gibson forever in his goofy and charming "Maverick" character...

...I can't help but wonder what the future holds for Mel Gibson movies. Especially because I was excited to see his next film, "The Beaver," which re-teams him with his "Maverick" co-star Jodie Foster. Now that excitement has been replaced with uncertainty. Read more...

Sweeeeeeeeeet. The image above is pulled from the newly launched official website for the 2012 adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's wonderful book, "The Wind in the Willows," adapted and directed by Ray Griggs. New Zealand-based effects studio Weta, founded by Peter Jackson, Richard Taylor and Jamie Selkirk in 1993, is handling the visuals for the CG-animated flick. The story follows four animal friends, one of whom is named Toad (guess which animal he is). Toad loves automobiles and is a very, very dangerous driver. He's also the inspiration for Disney World's greatest ride ever, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
The teaser that you can view at the website linked above gives you a first look at Toad and not much else. There's no story, no dialogue, no anything... just a flying camera and a dark, woodland setting. It's enough for me though-- I look forward to seeing more. What do you readers think?

"Inception" is out today and I have absolutely no idea what it's about. Well, that's not entirely true. I know who directed it. I know who's starring in it. I know that "your mind is the scene of the crime." I know it's supposed to be awesome.
But I haven't seen a single trailer. I haven't read a single synopsis. I have purposely kept myself in the dark about "Inception" as much as possible because as a fan of Christopher Nolan's work, I'm pretty confident that I'll enjoy the movie no matter what — or, at the very least, I'll pay to see it, plot be damned.
None of that's to say that I haven't thought about what "Inception" could be about. After the jump, check out some "Inception" predictions from a guy who has no idea what he's in store for! Read more...

There are a few movies in this world where, if I hear that the top-level creatives are doing something else, I'm immediately interested. "The Usual Suspects" is one of them. Which brings us to today's news.
Christopher McQuarrie, who dared us all to ask the question "Who is Kaiser Soze?" in "The Usual Suspects," has been brought in to give a re-write to Josh Olson's script for "One Shot," adapted from the ninth book in Lee Child's Jack Reacher series. What's more, there's a chance he may direct it, making it his first time helming a movie since "The Way of the Gun" in 2000. The story follows "military police officer-turned-drifter" Jack Reacher as he helps out a military sniper who is facing a murder charge.
McQuarrie also wrote the script for the Johnny Depp/Angelina Jolie-starring thriller "The Tourist," and he did a rewrite on the upcoming sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." For more, check out the full story at The Hollywood Reporter.

Finally, after long months of waiting and teasing trailers, "Inception" arrives in theaters TODAY. By many accounts -- certainly my own, if nothing else -- this is his finest work to date. Yes, even better than "The Dark Knight."
Hearing writer/director Christopher Nolan talk about it, this has been a natural progression for him. "To be honest, I've been very fortunate in my career in many ways, but very much in the way in which I've been able to build one film to the next," he told MTV's Josh Horowitz at the recent "Inception" press junket. "I started with the smallest possible scale film, 'Following,' which I made with friends on weekends... just us doing it. [Then] 'Memento,' which had a real budget and a real cast and everything." The Internet's gathered masses were collectively blown away yesterday by the arrival of the first proper trailer for "The Social Network," written by one Aaron Sorkin. A giant in the world of television (see also: "The West Wing," "Sports Night"), Sorkin's experience in the film world has been limited so far to writing a handful of scripts, albeit largely excellent ones. Did you know he wrote "Malice"? I didn't.
Now Sorkin is ready to try his hand at directing. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that he picked up the rights to Andrew Young's book "The Politician: An Insider's Account of John Edwards's Pursuit of the Presidency and the Scandal That Brought Him Down," with the plan being to write, direct and produce it himself. For more, check out THR's full story.

Today's Daily TwitPic is all about the time-honored tradition of changing a movie's title for foreign markets to better appeal to audiences there. There are some great ones. In France, "Jaws 2" is called "Teeth of the Sea 2." Sam Raimi's third entry in the "Evil Dead" trilogy, "Army of Darkness," is called "Captain Supermarket" in Japan. Perhaps best of all, the Hong Kong release of "As Good As It Gets" was given the rather bizarre moniker of "Mr. Cat Poop." (It sells the movie so much better, don't you think?)
And so we come to Paris Hilton. The celebutante has been spending some time in France. Apparently some of that time has been spent browsing through the shelves of a DVD store or two. It's there that she discovered the English-to-French-back-to-English translation of Todd Phillips' summer 2009 hit, "The Hangover." To find out though, you're going to have to hit the jump. What are some of your favorite translated movie titles? Read more...
