Big news to announce today, dear readers. San Diego Comic-Con is a great time, but a lot of folks don't get to go. Always a bummer. Well MTV, in partnership with MySpace, has a solution for you. A pretty awesome solution.

Tomorrow, the MTV Movies team flies out to San Diego for the initial setup. Then, starting on Thursday July 22 at 12pm PT, MTV Movies managing editor Josh Horowitz will get up in front of the camera to host the first of three HOUR-LONG LIVESTREAMS. Expect plenty of surprises, but for now we can confirm that Josh will have face time with cast and crew from a range of highly anticipated upcoming movies, including "The Green Hornet," "Red," "Machete," "Tron Legacy," "Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World" and plenty more. That's all in ADDITION to the many articles and blog posts we'll be publishing covering any breaking news at the show. What's more, we'll have footage debuts from "Scott Pilgrim," "Goon" and "Batman: Under the Hood."

In all, there's a LOT to look forward to in the coming days. Make sure you stay tuned to MTV and MySpace for the latest updates from 2010 San Diego Comic-Con! Hit the jump for the full text of the press release, including the livestream schedule and lineup. Read more...

"The Bachelorette" touched several lives in Twitter-Wood last night, from the looks of Alyson Hannigan and Shannon Elizabeth's accounts. The show also resonated with "Vampire Diaries" and "Scream 4" writer/producer Kevin Williamson, who happened to show up with some teeth in his neck in today's Twitter Pic, courtesy of Nina Dobrev.

Yet another tweet revealed that Ice-T's been hard at work recording his voice for "Gears of War 3." You can check out some info about his character, as well as how David Spade and Olivia Wilde felt about "Inception" after the jump.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and everything below constitutes Twitter-Wood for July 20, 2010. Read more...

The "Star Wars"-loving world was shocked last week by the news that Zac Efron will be lending his voice to the upcoming third volume of "Robot Chicken: Star Wars," which is set to air in December. Efron will be voicing Anakin Skywalker, the young Jedi Knight who fathers Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. Also, he becomes this little-known warlord named Darth Vader. Here's Efron describing his role in the coming special episode of the Seth Green/Matthew Senreich-created series.

"It was a few scenes. I don't know... I'm not exactly sure... it's really Seth's, it's his sort of brainchild, so... he's at the reins," Efron said. "He's the most creative, funny dude you've ever met. You kind of just go in and surrender to what he wants you to do." Read more...

"The Other Guys" is a movie that is all about the cops who suck. You know, you see these buddy cop movies where a pair of super-sleuths bring down the bad guys quickly and with style. "The Other Guys" is about... well... the other guys. Police who bust their hump day in, day out while a couple of lucky putzes get all of the glory. After watching this clip though, I feel like other guys Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell would do a whole lot better in their day-to-day if they'd just learn to get along.

One of the things I'm most bummed about missing as my MTV colleagues depart for San Diego Comic-Con tomorrow is the "Sucker Punch" presence there. There's a great deal of mystery surrounding director Zack Snyder's first original feature. In the past year we've spoken with several of the film's stars, and they've all been tight-lipped. Which is admittedly a great thing, but also frustrating with the movie still so far away from release.

MTV spoke with star Vanessa Hudgens over the weekend on the eve of SDCC for roughly the billionth time about the 2011 release. And while she remains just as quiet about the details of this crazy movie, her excitement is palpable.

"Shooting a .50-cal [machine gun], there's nothing like it," she said, smiling. She said as much back in April when we spoke to her, referring to her scene with the tank-mounted .50-cal as her favorite. According to Hudgens, she and her female co-stars really enjoyed the ass-kicking roles Snyder cooked up for them, and the associated gunplay. "I think all of us girls loved it so much. We're all strong individuals, and when you give us a gun... you kind of unleash something." Read more...

It might be hard to tell these days, especially if you're too young to remember "Ace Ventura" or "The Mask," but Jim Carrey is a masterful comic performer. The guy can contort his face and body in ways that leave audiences roaring with laughter. The only problem there is... it's not potential that he's tapped much in his most recent work. Sure, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is one of the landmark works of fiction in cinema, but does is have "Ace Ventura"'s talking buttcheeks? No? FAIL.

It's back on now though. Deadline reports that Carrey is teaming up with "Bruno" director Larry Charles for "Pierre, Pierre," a comedy in which an obnoxious Frenchman (Carrey) must escort a stolen painting from Paris to London. Carrey has been attached for sometime, but the behind-the-scenes saga involving producers and directors is a long and complicated one. I recommended clicking over to Deadline for the full breakdown.

Brad PittAfter a well-publicized delay and the ouster of Steven Soderbergh from the director's chair, shooting on "Moneyball" is underway in Los Angeles. Based on the best-selling book from Michael Lewis, Brad Pitt stars as Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane, whose small market Major League Baseball team instituted an innovative, statistics-based approach to build his team's roster and win the 2002 MLB American League West Division title.

Late last week, on his way to the Los Angeles set, cinematographer Wally Pfister ("Inception," "The Dark Knight") called up MTV News to talk about taking on the project, working with Brad Pitt and co-star Jonah Hill, and the support — and script approval — of the MLB for "Moneyball." Read more...

All the news that's to be had here can literally be gleaned from the headline. But since I went to the trouble of writing it, why don't I share some more info? Hollywood.com was in attendance last night at the "Dinner for Schmucks" premiere red carpet, and they landed a little bit of time with Bruce Greenwood, who appears in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" as Christopher Pike.

He said that he knows the "plan" is to shoot in January, though he also admits that he's not certain he's in the coming sequel. That could also just be some misdirection of course, but it's good to at least know that there's a tentative start date set for this highly anticipated production.

"Scream 4" is a horror movie that's worth getting excited about. While the genre continues to crumble beneath a deluge of excessive, CG-infused gore, "Scream" is the white-armored, blood-spattered knight riding in to rescue us with suspenseful storytelling. Hopefully. With the original trilogy's architects, Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson involved, that is certainly the expectation.

Newcomer star Hayden Panettiere believes it. It's not surprising of course, but it's encouraging to hear her speak about the coming sequel with enthusiasm in her below chat with MTV correspondent Tim Kash.

"I think it's just perfect timing, the amount of time that has passed since the last one came out," she said. "It's a perfect setup, with all of these films ... the [fictional] 'Stab' [movies] and all the things like that. I think with all of the 'Scream' [films], the idea is to throw the audience for a loop every time." Read more...

The Muppets are a constant in this world. You may as well get used to it. They were pretty quiet through much of the Aughts, but the ease of online video-sharing has been instrumental in paving the way for their viral comeback. YouTube's MuppetsStudio channel is a source of endless entertainment these days, with semi-frequent new videos appearing featuring classic Muppet characters doing hilarious new music videos for well-known songs.

The latest hit the Internets on July 2 and I completely missed it! I'm here to correct that now though! The Swedish Chef is back in the kitchen, cooking up some delicious-looking popcorn shrimp. How fitting then that the corn he's popping explodes to the tune of Hot Butter's "Popcorn." Don't know that song by name? Trust me, you will when you hear it. Check out the kickass new Muppets goodness down after the jump. Read more...
