When you walk into your local showing of "Predators" later today — yes, when, not if — you'll find yourself dealing with a double dose of Danny Trejo goodness. Not only will you enjoy the mustachioed manly man in his "Predators" role of Cuchillo, you'll also get a look at a brand new trailer for the Trejo-starring "Machete," in theaters this fall.
The new "Machete" trailer is already online courtesy of IGN and, as expected, it's filled to the brim with all of the guns, knives and explosions one would hope for from Robert Rodriguez's "Grindhouse" spinoff. Most of the film's major co-stars also make appearances, including Steven Seagal, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez. There's just one question...
Where's Lindsay Lohan?
Lohan's casting in "Machete" was curious enough already, and were it not for her appearance in the Cinco de Mayo trailer, we would almost think she wasn't in the movie. But Lohan is the only actor listed in this latest trailer's credits that isn't actually in the trailer. Was this a last minute cut due to Lohan's legal woes? Is it simply a matter of her role being much smaller than her headline-happy name?
Clearly, "Machete" is the Danny Trejo show and he's at the forefront of this trailer, as it should be. But with all of the attention paid to the other characters, it's a bit odd that Lohan isn't involved at all, especially considering her memorable appearance as a gun-toting nun in the last trailer. Really, who doesn't want to see more of that?
Hopefully, this is just a case of concealing Lohan's role to surprise the audience with how she factors into "Machete." There's no question that she's in the midst of a difficult time right now, but between her involvement in "Machete" and adult film biopic "Inferno," I've found myself more interested in Lohan's career, not her tabloid status, than I've been since… well, ever.
With any luck, we'll see plenty more of Lohan's trigger-happy nun when "Machete" rolls into theaters. For now, we'll have to be happy enough with the "Machete" trailer as is. Thankfully, there's a whole lot of awesomeness to behold, Lohan or not.
Would you like to see more Lohan in the new "Machete" trailer, or are you happy that her role is being downplayed? Let us know where you stand in the comments section and on Twitter!
