Yesterday I spent some time weighing the relative pros and cons of having "District 9" director Neill Blomkamp replace Guillermo del Toro at the helm of "The Hobbit," as had been rumored. While I hold Blomkamp in very high regard, I don't think he's the right guy to bring us Bilbo Baggins' adventures in Middle-earth.

It turns out now that his suspected place on the replacement directors shortlist might not have been so accurate. Vulture reports, via an "insider at his agency," that Blomkamp isn't in the running and, in fact, has not been approached by anyone at the studio. Soooo... whew. I'm much more excited to see what he's actually working on, a mysterious sci-fi flick he's only hinted at but which we now know to be called "Elysium."

MTV Movies managing editor Josh Horowitz isn't here today. He's on a plane, zooming off to Los Angeles (again-- I think this makes three trips in three weeks?). This trip is all in the name of "Twilight" though. Specifically, "Eclipse," which premieres tomorrow night at the Nokia Theater in the City of Angels.

There's going to be a doozy of a red carpet, with every star of the film in attendance, along with a dizzying range of famous names, from Jamie Foxx to Emilie de Ravin to Kourtney Kardashian. Not only will Josh be covering it, but he'll be doing so with help from Kimmy West, who runs "Twilight" fan site His Golden Eyes. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!

Starting at 9:30pm ET, Josh and Kimmy will be broadcasting LIVE from the red carpet, bringing you answers to all sorts of questions AS THEY HAPPEN! It'll be streaming to you right here on MTV.com, so make sure you tune in to Movies.MTV.com for the coverage!

Did you know that "Eclipse" is out next week? A LOT of people in Los Angeles do. A bunch of 'em are lined up for the premiere tomorrow night, which MTV will be covering in a big way (more on that in a little bit). It's actually a pretty amazing sight, seeing a mass of proper camping tents assembled on an LA sidewalk behind police barriers.

That's how producer Dana Brunetti felt when he saw the camped out line in the City of Angels the other night. Brunetti, for those who need a refresher, is a longtime Kevin Spacey collaborator. Together, the two founded Trigger Street Productions. They produced "21," "Fanboys" and the upcoming Facebook biopic "The Social Network," among other things. No "Twilight" though. So forgive him for mistaking the line for an iPhone 4 campout. Read More...

Next week will mark the four year anniversary of the day Donald Glover and his buddies introduced the world to Bro Rape, the heinously hilarious crime in which a Birkenstock-wearing, "Family Guy"-watching dude has his way with an unsuspecting (and super drunk) pal.

7.7 million views for that YouTube sketch later, Glover finds himself a rising comedy star. No exaggeration. This year's Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal is honoring the 26-year-old as its Rising Comedy Star of the Year. Things have been going pretty well for the guy as of late. He stars in NBC's "Community," his comedy troupe continues to pump out click-attracting web videos and earlier this month he found himself the focus of an Internet campaign to land the role of Peter Parker in the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot.

But there's something about that Bro Rap video that Glover just can't escape. And he's cool with that. Glover heads to Just for Laughs — which is also honoring Aziz Ansari as Breakout Star of the Year and three "Glee" scribes as Comedy Writer of the Year — starting on July 12 for six straight days of stand-up performances. Before he heads north of the border, Glover gave MTV News a call to chat about what he has planned for Montreal, his plans for the future and his beef with Justin Bieber. Read More...

You may or may not be aware that at this very moment there are people waiting in tents with images of Robert Pattinson on them to see "Eclipse." Today's Twitter-Wood links to photographic evidence of such behavior and contains thoughts from female Wolf Pack member Tinsel Korey on the matter.

"Toy Story 3," meanwhile is already out in theaters, and you shouldn't need to camp out overnight to get in. I've included some more micro-reviews to day along with photos from Jeremy Piven and Michael Chiklis and dirty thoughts from Russell Brand. Find out what he's thinking and who might be addicted to "The Bachelorette" after the jump.

It's all retweeted in Twitter-Wood for June 22, 2010. Read More...

One of the more talked-about rumors that's been circulating on the Internet lately is the possibility that Neill Blomkamp, the director of "District 9," will be taking over for Guillermo del Toro as the director of "The Hobbit." Peter Jackson of course did the original "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and for quite some time del Toro had been booked to helm the two-part telling of J.R.R. Tolkien's "Rings" prequel novel. Unfortunately for fans, a protracted pre-production process coupled with studio woes led del Toro to announce quite recently that he'd been forced to move on to other commitments.

Which officially leaves the "Hobbit" director's chair vacant. Since the news broke at the end of May, there's been no shortage of speculation and rumor about who might take over. Jackson is the obvious choice of course, given his experience in bringing Middle-earth to life, but he's not interested. Blomkamp certainly makes sense as well; Jackson helped shepherd "District 9" into existence and many regard the South African director as Jackson's protégé.

Me? I'm torn. "District 9" was a stunning piece of film, especially for a first-time effort. But does the natural talent on display there coupled with the Jackson connection automatically mean that Blomkamp is an ideal second choice? Let's consider, after the jump of course. Read More...

While down in Florida covering the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, MTV Movies managing editor Josh Horowitz got a very special treat. Shortly before the Universal Orlando theme park add-on opened, Josh had an opportunity to take a stroll through Hogwarts while "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe served as his tour guide.

I love this video. Radcliffe's excitement for the park opening is palpable as he leads Josh around in what amounts to a pretty candid exchange. This is a guy who has essentially lived on the film sets at Leavesden Studios for the past decade; there's really no one better to comment on what an accurate representation is on display at Wizarding World. You can watch the tour yourself in the video below.

Seth Rogen: action hero. That's what director Michel Gondry's 2011 comic book blockbuster "The Green Hornet" wants you to be on board with. The new trailer, which debuted today on Yahoo!, is... actually pretty promising. I even chuckled out loud when Rogen shoots himself in the face with a gas gun. A nice mix of action and comedy, with brief glimpses of Christoph Waltz. What do you think?

I feel pretty safe saying that this is the longest blog post that has ever run on MTV Movies Blog. It's a special treat for you "Transformers" fans though.

Hitting stores today is author Alex Irvine's "Exodus," a "Transformers" novel set on Cybertron during a time before the epic battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons was waged. You'll learn how Megatron rose to power, get to know Optimus Prime before he became a Prime... hell, before he was even called Optimus! You'll see the war for Cybertron waged from its very beginnings on to its cataclysmic conclusion.

You'll find none of that after the jump though. What I have for you here today is a short story from Irvine detailing how the Autobot Bumblebee came to lose his voice. It's not a part of the book, so the only place you can read it is here, exclusively on MTV Movies Blog. For that reason, I hope you'll forgive the extreme length of this blog post, since it's all in the name of sharing a story about the mysterious fan-favorite Transformer. Read More...

If Todd Phillips' "The Hangover" was a Las Vegas party movie without the Las Vegas party, then his upcoming "Staycation" is set to be a family vacation road movie without a family hitting the highway for a holiday.

Instead, the new comedy will explore what happens when a family is too broke to splurge on a lux getaway and instead must explore familiar environs for some much needed R&R. Yet while "Staycation" won't conform to a familiar plotline, it will most definitely remind you of classic Hollywood vacation flicks. Read More...
