The fun part about watching Kevin Smith's hockey tweets is that that he's actually a fan of the sport in general, as opposed to just the New Jersey Devils. Jeremy Piven and Dave Coulier, meanwhile were a little more explicit with their praise last night when the Chicago Blackhawks took home the Stanley Cup.
Some country music performers took home some accolades last night, too, over at the CMT Music Awards. David Spade and Snooki saw some friends while they were there from the looks of their tweets. Check out who they were hanging out with after the jump along with a shot of Julia Roberts and a glimpse of what "Eclipse" looks like in IMAX.

"Taken" is an incredible piece of film. Does it rank among the all-time best? Absolutely not. It's completely implausible in every way. There are plot holes, continuity oddities and downright questionable character motivations. But it is, as MTV Newsroom editor Kyle Anderson puts it, all about watching Liam Neeson shoot half of France in the face. And that makes it perfectly excellent.
It's also confusing though to hear Neeson say that making a "Taken" sequel is challenging because it is "hard to get a plot that will be believable." Wait, what? Really? It's fine though, fear not. The actor goes on to say that he'll be meeting with producer Luc Besson later this month. Soooo... there's always hope!

Last night, the Chicago Blackhawks beat out the Philadelphia Flyers to win their first Stanley Cup in 49 years. This weekend, the United States goes up against England in the opening round of the World Cup. Clearly, 'tis the season to worship cups, particularly cups of the sporting variety.
But crucial cups aren't relegated to the athletic arena. From sentient tea cups to would-be vomit receptacles, there are plenty of cups within the halls of cinema worthy of praise and celebration. After the jump, check out some of our favorite cups in movie-making history! Read more...

A couple of weeks ago, I had an extensive chat with Adam Bhala Lough about his upcoming movie "Splatter Sisters," starring Marilyn Manson, Evan Rachel Wood and others who have yet to be named. Then the 2010 MTV Movie Awards happened. Now that the madness is over, I'm excited to bring you more about what sounds like an exceptionally cool movie. The best place to start, I think, is the idea's inception-- it's an amusing tale.
"The story was conceived by me and my friend Seb, who manages Lee 'Scratch' Perry," Lough said. "We first conceived of the idea in 2005. The week of the Independent Spirit Awards, my film was nominated. I flew out to LA and Seb... was living in this ranch two hours north of [the city]. It was just a recording studio; it had no furniture and no lights and just a fridge filled with beer. I spent 13 days on the floor in this house and we basically conceived of this whole idea during that trip. And then I spent the next four or so years just crafting the script and putting together the whole story." Read more...

Yahoo! Movies debuted the first trailer for Disney's fall CG release, "Tangled." Based on the fairy tale about Rapunzel, she of the long, golden, flowing locks, this movie seems to be a bit more light-hearted than the original Brothers Grimm story. It also features the voice talents of Mandy Moore and "Chuck" star Zachary Levi. Arriving in late November, this will actually give Disney fans a glimpse of RealD tech at work, the 3-D technique used to power another major Mouse House release that hits theaters only a few weeks later: "Tron Legacy."

Les Grossman provided some of the best standout moments at Sunday night's 2010 MTV Movie Awards. It's really no surprise that he's getting a movie. And that movie will surely feature a star-studded assortment of cameos, as Grossman has attracted a lot of friends in this business. Whether that's because he's amazing at what he does or people are simply too scared to fall against him is another matter, but... uhhhh... no, it's because he's amazing. Simply the best. And no, he's not standing right here with a gun pointed at my head. Why would you think such a crazy thing?

Tom Cruise, Sandra Bullock, the Situation — the stars were out in force at the MTV Movie Awards at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday night. But after walking the sun-baked red carpet with "Karate Kid" co-star Jackie Chan, 11-year-old Jaden Smith only had one thing on his mind: "Twilight."
And if he found himself in a conversation with Robert Pattinson during the show, Smith knew exactly what he'd ask the Brit actor.
"I've never met Robert Pattinson before, but I will just say that we should make a vampire movie together," he told MTV News. Read more...

Questions, so many questions. Important ones. What is the meaning of life? Why is the economy crumbling? And the big, bad mother of them all: where the crap is "Anchorman 2" already? Nobody really knows. Including Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd, the stars of the first movie, who said as much on Sunday night at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.
"Salaries are down, I don't know," Rudd said, referring to the previous revelation that the key players were willing to take a pay cut in order to assemble for the sequel. "I was actually talking to [writer/director] Adam McKay about this last night and we don't know." Read more...

Love him or hate him, you're about to get a whole lot more of Les.
Paramount Pictures and MTV Films have announced the development of an untitled Les Grossman movie spinning out of the movie executive's appearances in "Tropic Thunder" and the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. Tom Cruise, Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfield of Red Hour Films are producing with "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" screenwriter Michael Bacall tackling the script. Cruise is in talks to portray Grossman in the film.
But don't get too excited — there's still a lot of work to be done before a Grossman movie makes its way to theaters. In fact, Grossman himself has no fewer than five high profile projects that need to get the green light before his own life story goes into development. After the jump, we've got the rundown on Grossman's current production slate. Read more...

Big day in sports yesterday. Hockey's Chicago Blackhawks scored an overtime goal against the Philadelphia Flyers last night to put the cap on the season with a Stanley Cup win, the team's first since 1961. Maybe not as momentous as the New York Rangers winning the Cup in '94 (suck it, Islander fans!), but a momentous occasion for Chicago residents and Blackhawks fans nonetheless.
Diablo Cody, the writer of "Juno" and "Jennifer's Body," is a native of Illinois. So as you might expect, she's a pretty dedicated Blackhawks fan. And here she is in today's Daily TwitPic, proudly showing off her team pride. Now if only the Cubs could pull one out too... Read more...
