The ongoing financial crisis is ripe for a film treatment, as it continues to be a topic of great interest to... well... everyone. So it's no surprise to hear that corporate thriller "Margin Call" is being shopped for distribution, or that high-profile stars like Kevin Spacey and Zachary Quinto are signed on to lead the cast. The story, which comes from a script by newcomer J.C. Chandor, follows eight people through a 24-hour period during the early stages of the global market collapse. LostThere are only four and a half hours remaining before "Lost" is over. That hardly seems like enough time to address all of the mysteries proposed over the course of the series' six seasons, but tonight's installment — titled "Across the Sea" — has the potential to cover quite a bit of "Lost" ground.

We'll keep some of the more spoilery details for after the jump, but suffice it to say, "Across the Sea" promises to reveal a healthy heaping of Island history. In fact, we're of the mind that several of the show's most burning questions could be answered in this episode.

After the jump, check out some of the most pressing "Lost" questions we might finally receive answers to in "Across the Sea." Last reminder — there be spoilers ahead! Read More...

When "Iron Man 2" arrived in theaters last week, a new trailer for "Inception" showed up with it. Followers of this blog know that I've made a concerted effort to avoid finding out too much about this movie; trailers and TV spots are fine, but I've shied away from the more spoiler-y leaks and breaking news.

This latest trailer though... I'm disappointed now, after watching it. Which isn't to say that it's bad; it isn't. It just happens to be very revealing. Like "here's where the 'Matrix' rabbit hole goes revealed in a trailer" revealing. So in short... watch the following trailer at your own risk. Chris Nolan has cooked up some crazy stuff for his coming movie. I just wish I'd been able to steer clear of the particulars until the movie arrives in July.

"Iron Man 2" opened last Friday, earning more than $130 million in box office sales over the weekend. Enough to land the movie in position #5 for all-time top-grossing opening weekends. It's a big movie and, by most accounts, a great sequel; few expected anything less. Now that it's out, as is always the case during the summer blockbuster season, it's time for us to start thinking about what might top it.

Summer blockbuster season is a tough time to maintain box office dominance. In the long history of film, only one summer release has a place in the top 10 consecutive #1 box office weekends: "Back to the Future," released 7/3/85, spent 8 weeks in a row at #1. "Ghostbusters," released 6/8/84, comes after that in the #11 spot with 7 weeks on top. Make no mistake: "Iron Man 2" will be usurped. The question is, when? Read More...

The on-again/off-again/on-again news about "Ghostbusters 3" is enough to drive a fan crazy. First it's happening. Then it isn't. Then it is again. Then the writers release a movie, "Year One," that turns out to be pretty lousy. Then series star Bill Murray says he's not interested, which doesn't bode well since a sequel depends on the approval of the three original 'Busters and director Ivan Reitman. Now, star Harold Ramis has confirmed that yes, it really is happening, and a Christmas 2012 release is the plan. He said that in an interview with ABC.

Do you think it's ever really going to happen? With the ambivalence expressed thus far by key players, will you actually care if it does? Check out the full story on FilmShaft.

It all started at the end of August. News emerged that newcomer Peter Craig was working for Columbia Pictures on a script for "Bad Boys 3." The plan at the time was to move forward with a third entry in the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced series, whether or not the original lineup of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence returned. Thankfully, that's not an issue.

Lawrence told MTV last month that "Bad Boys 3" plans are "real realistic." Referring to himself, co-star Smith and Bruckheimer, Lawrence continued, "We've talked about 'Bad Boys 3.'" They done more than that apparently, as Bruckheimer told MTV's Vanessa White Wolf at the weekend junket for "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time."

"We're talking about it," he said. "Will Smith came up with a terrific idea for a screenplay, and we've been working on a script, so we'll keep our fingers crossed." Read More...

"Eclipse," the third movie in the "Twilight" series, hits theaters on June 30. You're all excited. I know you are. But are you excited enough to buy tickets this week for a movie that's more than a month away? That's going to be an option for you; starting on Thursday at midnight, Fandango.com and MovieTickets.com will be selling tickets to the movie a full six weeks before it hits theaters. Given the popularity of the series and the reception of the most recent trailer, I'd hazard a guess that most, if not all, of the opening night showings will sell out in advance. So if you're really a dedicated fan, make sure you jump on the early ticket release and get yourself set in advance.

In the past week, news has emerged of two competing Beatles projects, each taking a very different approach to its subject matter. In one corner is Oasis frontman-turned-movie producer Liam Gallagher. His plan is to adapt former Apple Records PR guy Richard DiLello's book, "The Longest Cocktail Party: An Insider's Diary of the Beatles, Their Million Dollar Apple Empire and Its Wild Rise and Fall," into a feature film. There's no writer, director or cast yet, but we can at least expect the title to change (read: shorten). Gallagher is expected to make a formal announcement about the project next week at the Cannes Film Festival.

In the other corner is author Alan Goldsher and his upcoming book "Paul Is Undead: The British Zombie Invasion," which Deadline reports has been optioned for a film treatment by "Pulp Fiction" producers Michael Chamberg and Stacey Sher. The story, told as an oral history (think "World War Z"), follows a zombified Fab Four as they spread undead Beatlemania across the world... all while being pursued by Mick Jagger, England's premiere zombie hunter, and Yoko Ono, an Eighth Level Ninja Lord.
