1. "Iron Man 2" ($15 million)
2. "Robin Hood" ($13.1 million)
3. "Letters to Juliet" ($5 million)
4. "Just Wright" ($2.9 million)
5. "A Nightmare on Elm Street" ($1.5 million)
Although the effort was certainly admirable, it's simply a fact of life: arrows are not strong enough to penetrate Tony Stark's high tech armor. "Iron Man 2" once again soared to the top spot on Friday, beating "Robin Hood" with a solid $15 million intake in its eighth day at the box office. Read more...

Cancellation news came in spades to Twitter-Wood this week. First it was "The Sarah Silverman Program," and now the ax has fallen on "Law and Order." Luckily, Ice-T spoke up to assure everyone that "SVU" is still going strong, but some fans are feeling cheated.
Tyrese Gibson tweeted a grievance as well today, calling Apple out for not using a wider variety of users in their iPad advertisements. Check out what he wants to see changed, as well as what Cannes looked like in 1969 and who wished Jessica Alba a happy birthday. It's all retweeted for your perusal after the jump in Twitter-Wood for May 14, 2010. Read more...

The 2010 MTV Movie Awards air on June 6, just a few short weeks from now. So this is NO time for host Aziz Ansari to be screwing around on video sharing websites. And yet that's exactly what Sarah Silverman lures him in the below video. It all turns out fine in the end though; Silverman and Ansari's shared fascination with one particular video leads to comedy gold when Zac Efron's sudden arrival forces them to get creative.
"I'm Zac Efron and my head's on a squirrel!"

Late last week I spoke to director Julien Nitzberg about his Johnny Knoxville/Jeff Tremaine-produced documentary, "The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia." The intimate and often-shocking look at an extended family from Boone County, WV is a well-crafted piece of film and it left me wanting to see more from the director. It turns out that he's now working on a biopic for HBO Films about 1950s wrestler Sputnik Monroe, a man who took a rather interesting approach to his work.
"Just as wrestling always has this political edge where [for example] there would be a bad Russian wrestler in the '80s [during the Cold War], in the '50s, [Sputnik Monroe] got to the south and was shocked by the racism there," Nitzberg explained. "He took on the persona, strangely enough, of the pro-integration wrestler." Read more...
By now, you've almost certainly seen the teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams' summer 2011 homage to Steven Spielberg "Super 8." It's been available, both officially and unofficially, in any number of places ever since it premiered in front of "Iron Man 2" last week. Now we've got it for you to watch here. You can pause, rewind, freeze and blow up stills to your heart's content. There's already a ton of trailer analysis spread far and wide across the 'Net, but you know there's still a secret or two left to be uncovered.

"The Hangover" was such a huge success last summer that it was almost immediately greenlit for a sequel. Director Todd Phillips took over writing the script on this one, and as of December, 2009 he was halfway done. "I think you can take those characters and put them in other situations, and you don't need the sell of Vegas and a bachelor party and all that other stuff," he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly at the time. MTV's Josh Horowitz recently spoke with Zach Galifianakis on the set of "Bored To Death" about his MTV Movie Awards "Hangover" nomination for Best Male Breakout Star and he got a little bit of an update on what's going on with the sequel.
"I think we're shooting it in autumn," he said with a little grin. "Some people say fall, but we're shooting it in autumn." Read more...

"The A-Team" isn't in theaters until June 11, but we've been playing out our own fantasy scenes from the movie in the MTV Newsroom. The stars of the movie wouldn't agree to come in, so we had to settle for the next best thing: toys! We've been messing around with a variety of "A-Team" action figures for the past couple weeks, and I'm pleased to reveal them to you now here, exclusively on MTV.

There's a very old-school feel to the smaller action figures, kind of like classic '80s "G.I. Joe" toys, but with more flexibility. The 12" ones, which talk via a handy button on their backs, are even more of a throwback. It's all the work of Florida-based toy company Jazwares, Inc., which you can keep up with on Twitter and Facebook. Hit the jump for some more views of the soon-to-release toy line or click the image above to check out our full gallery! Read more...

Enlisting actors to play professional athletes can be dicey business - no matter how many hours of professional coaching or training they log, they're athleticism is either believable, or laughable. In celebration of this week's sporty rom-com "Just Wright," and a pretty impressive turn by rapper/actor Common as a professional basketball player, here is a list of other thespians who pulled off their "cinemathletics." There's very little left for "Harry Potter" fans to do at this point other than wait. The final book has been out for a few years, so we all know how the story ends. The two-part telling of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" has a release date and filming is well underway. Only one major question remains, really: how the heck will the "Deathly Hallows" epilogue scene unfold?
MTV's Eric Ditzian spoke to Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton on Wednesday shortly after his MTV Movie Awards nomination was announced. While the chat was mostly focused on the actor's accomplishments in last years "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," he was more than happy to talk about the future. That is, the far future of the "Deathly Hallows" epilogue, when the now-grown former Hogwarts students all run into each other as they send their own children off to be schooled in the wizarding ways. When the world blacked out for two minutes and seventeen seconds on October 6, 2009, what did you see? If you saw the cancellation of "FlashForward," it looks like your future visions have caught up with reality.
Television networks are in the process of ordering pilots to series, granting new season orders and even cutting programs entirely. One such deceased series is "FlashForward," as ABC has decided not to afford Mark Benford and the rest of the Mosaic Team further time to prevent the foretold end of the world on December 12, 2016.
But even if you're a fan of the show, can you really say that you didn't see this coming? Read more...
