The less Twitter-savvy among you might not be aware of the phenomenon that is Troll Foot. Danny DeVito is the greatest. Let's just get that out of the way now. He's moved more behind the lens in recent years, but I challenge you to look back on some of his classics -- "Other People's Money," "Ruthless People," "Twins" -- and call him anything less than a comic genius.
Well DeVito is on Twitter and he's got this... thing. A sort of obsession with putting his foot into twitpics. A foot which he has dubbed Troll Foot. In today's Daily TwitPic, Troll Foot gets a treasured photo op with Nick, Kevin and Joe of the Jonas Brothers, as part of a benefit to fight diabetes. And I have to say, Troll Foot looks mighty pleased with the publicity.
I still find that thing creepy though. Check it out after the jump. Read More...
Not since
One of the big Sundance flicks in 2009 that I'd hoped to see but couldn't was Adam Bhala Lough's "The Carter," a documentary about rap artist Lil Wayne that generated quite a bit of buzz before, during and after the fest. It is with great interest then that I greet the news of Lough directing an upcoming "sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movie," inspired by similar '80s fare, titled "Splatter Sisters." Especially since it will feature the acting talents of husband and wife-to-be Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood. David Gordon Green will produce with accomplish producer Edward R. Pressman, who announced the movie at Cannes Film Festival, where he is on hand to promote "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps." Check out Variety
Writer/director
The Cannes Film Festival is currently underway in France, the 63rd outing for the world-renowned celebration of cinema. There's a lot going on there this year, but it's all old hat if you've been there before. If there's anything Cannes is not, it's dull. In the more than half a century of its existence, the festival has celebrated a diverse array of important films with its prestigious Palme d'Or award: "The Third Man" (1949), "La Dolce Vita" (1960), "MASH" (1970), "Apocalypse Now" (1979), "Pulp Fiction" (1994) and, most recently, "The White Ribbon" (2009).

'20,000 Leagues Under The Sea' Heads For The Future With Timur Bekmambetov?!
Posted 5/17/10 3:44 pm EST by Adam Rosenberg in Commentary, Humor
Over the weekend, news of two competing adaptations of Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" surfaced (pun intended). One was a revival of sorts; late last year, Disney put a planned "20,000 Leagues" project with "Terminator Salvation" director McG attached to helm on indefinite hold. Now Disney is back, and they're looking at Scott Z. Burns to write and David Fincher to direct.
Elsewhere in Hollywood, Fox is planning an adaptation of their own with Scott brothers Ridley and Tony on board to produce. "Clash of the Titans" co-writer Scott Beacham will provide the script and "Wanted" director Timur Bekmambetov is in talks to helm it. Fox's "20,000 Leagues" will reportedly take the setting into the future, which makes it perfect for the "Wanted" director.
Since I'm a sucker for a mash-up, I have to wonder what other wacky tales from the public domain would best be tackled with Bekmambetov's unique vision attached to them. Read More...
