'The American' Trailer Shows Off George Clooney's Dramatic Side

Look, I know George Clooney can do serious. So it's not exactly surprising to see him here, stripped of the light-hearted banter that's characterized many of his most memorable roles. In "The American" Clooney plays an assassin at the end of his career, off on one last mission in Italy before he retires. There's something about it -- the tone, the color palettes, the performance -- that reminds me very much of "The Wrestler." I also definitely feel the style of director Anton Corbijn -- a music video director who makes his feature fiction debut here -- seeping in as well. Check it out for yourself below.
