"Harry Potter" fans all across the Internet have been buzzing this week over the news that series creator J.K. Rowling said she'd be game to write more stories in that universe "maybe 10 years from now." The final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," came out in summer 2007 and the two-part film adaptation hits theaters in November 2010 for part one and July 2011 for part two. After that, "Potter" fans had pretty much resigned themselves to getting their fix from fan fiction and re-reading/re-watching the books/movies.

Rowling's recent statement gives fans hope though. We already considered yesterday where the series might go. Today, we look back at some of Rowling's past statements: on where the main characters end up after the "Deathly Hallows" epilogue, what her thoughts are on continuing the series and what she might write if she does return to it. None of this should be taken as confirmation of what Rowling will or won't do; better to consider this as a guideline, a glimpse into the author's thinking on the series and where it's going. Needless to say, there are spoilers ahead; tread carefully if you haven't read all of the books! Read More...

Carl Jung (1875-1961): A Swiss psychiatrist who posited the theory that people hold within them a set of archetypes which are each defined by a repeating set of thoughts and actions.

That's an admittedly Psych 101 definition, and it's probably missing some components, but that's what Cage means when he calls comic books "Jungian archetypes for the modern age" in the video below. The "Kick-Ass" star also describes how his vigilante character draws influences from the Adam West-era "Batman." Hear the explanation in the video below, then head over to MTV Splash Page for the full story.

I think this one was making the rounds yesterday. As big a gamer as I am, I'm ashamed to say that I missed it. The short film comes from Patrick Jean, for French studio One More Production. I count multiple classic arcade references here as New York City is invaded and ultimately transformed by relics of the 8-bit age. There's "Space Invaders," "Pac-Man," "Frogger," "Donkey Kong," "Tetris," "Arkanoid"(!!!) and... I think that's "Kaboom!" Neat stuff, especially with the chiptunes-complemented 8-bit credits sequence.

The passing of former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren saddened some Twitter-Wood posts today, and Edgar Wright was among those thinking about a proper tribute to him. Elsewhere, David Lynch called out one of his own life's accomplishments, pointing out the 20th anniversary of "Twin Peaks" premiering on TV.

Lloyd Kaufman, meanwhile, stepped up in defense of a remake of one of his classics, "The Toxic Avenger," which is being backed by Akiva Goldsman. You can find those retweets after the jump along with John Cusack's fighting words for Internet trolls and Chris Kattan's thoughts on Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy's breakup in Twitter-Wood for April 8th, 2010. Shawn Levy's been hitting big over the past few years, what with the success of his two "Night at the Museum" movies and now, tomorrow's "Date Night," starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell. He hasn't always done straight comedies, but most of his work to this point has had a humorous bent. That's going to change with "Real Steel," a robot boxing movie that promises to deliver more than just boxing robots. MTV's Josh Horowitz spoke to Levy on the "Date Night" record carpet earlier this week, and it's clear that the director is excited about doing something a little different with this project.

"That's a kickass movie. My first non-comedy, starring Hugh Jackman," he said. I got a call from Steven Spielberg and he said 'Hey, there's this Richard Matheson short story, I've been developing it for 8, 9 years.'" The call led to a meeting, and the veteran filmmaker was sold on Levy's pitch. Read More...

Yesterday brought huge news for "Harry Potter" fans. Nuclear news. Comparable to "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner"-scale news.

"Potter" creator J.K. Rowling revealed that she'd like to return to the "Harry Potter" universe, "maybe in the next 10 years." Harry's boy wizard story ends pretty decisively in the last book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," but an epilogue suggests there's more to the tale for Harry Potter the man wizard. There's also this incredibly rich, detailed universe that Rowling created; who's to say future "Potter" spun stories have to deal with Harry directly? After the jump, I run through a few possible directions that Rowling could potentially go in with future books. Read More...
