Hoo boy is this a fun post to write. Since we censor expletives on MTV Movies Blog, I can't actually run any of the full titles of the movies I'm going to list. I'm sure you'll get the idea though.
"Kick-Ass" is out today. While that is a pretty tame title by today's standards of profanity -- it's not even censored here! -- it nonetheless contains a dirty word. The sort that, at one point, would have been unthinkable to say on television. It's a pretty non-threatening title too, especially when compared to some of the other movies out there. Even taking pornography out of the equation, there remains a history of film titles that, for one reason or another, work in a little bit of profanity. See for yourself after the jump. Read more...

Almost a year ago now we heard news that Paul Verhoeven, for his next film, would be tackling an adaptation of Kathryn Mackel's 2004 novel, "The Surrogate." Mere days later, it came out that Halle Berry was interested in joining that adaptation. MTV's Josh Horowitz spoke to the filmmaker recently when he stopped by to promote his new book, "Jesus of Nazareth," and learned that "The Surrogate" is still a project that is very much alive.
"That's still in the works," Verhoeven said. "Halle Berry is attached to the project and we discussed it all. The question is where do we get the $30 million to do a project that includes a lot of things that have to do with abortion and... surrogate mothers." Read more...

A couple weeks ago there was news that Ashley Tisdale would be getting her own direct-to-Disney Channel movie, spun off from the teen-friendly hit, "High School Musical." Very little is known about "Sharpey's Fabulous Adventures," other than that it is expected to premiere in 2011. So when MTV's Larry Carroll sat down for a chat with star Vanessa Hudgens earlier this week, he asked if we might see her Gabriella Montez might pop up in the spin-off. Hear Hudgens' response in the video below, then head over to Hollywood Crush for the full report.

"Kick-Ass" certainly has the highest body count of any movie coming out this weekend, but it doesn't have a monopoly on death — that's a subject thoroughly explored in Neil LaBute's "Death at a Funeral," the oddly comical movie -- a remake of the 2007 flick directed by Frank Oz -- starring Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence and a slew of other notable icons gathered to mourn the loss of their family's patriarch.
Of course, "Death at a Funeral" is just the latest movie to spend a lengthy period of time focusing on the departure of a loved one from this mortal coil. Whether deep and somber or hilariously inappropriate, the following five movies feature some of the most memorable funeral scenes in cinema history. Read more...

Today brings our most excellent "Kick-Ass" theme week to a close, as the movie is now in theaters and there's nothing left to tease you with: just leave you house and buy a ticket! Okay... maybe there are a few things left to tease you with. Like John Romita Jr.'s -- co-writer of the source comic book -- cameo. And the in-movie nod to co-writer Mark Millar's earlier work on "Wanted." Millar has the details on those and more, only on MTV Splash Page. So head over and check it out.

While big-ticket blockbusters flood theatres every week, worthy little indie films gasp for air. The quietly excellent “Handsome Harry” is one of these. The movie debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival last spring, then sat around till September, when indie vet Mark Urman picked it up for his Paladin distribution company. Now here it is, opening this weekend in New York, Los Angeles and Miami (and other cities soon). Better late than undeservedly overlooked. Read more...

Noted film critic Roger Ebert has seen "Kick-Ass," and he he didn't like what he saw. He took particular issue with the action of Chloe Moretz's Hit-Girl character, an 11-year-old who over the course of the film racks up a body count that rivals those of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger during their '80s/'90s heyday.
The stars of the R-rated superhero flick, which hits theaters today, aren't having it. Ebert's review surfaced after MTV spoke with them, but they've been nonetheless prepared for some backlash about the violence. Moretz says the action falls closer to "Tom & Jerry" than it does to "Saw." And star Nicolas Cage see his young co-star as "a pop icon of feminist strength." Check them out in the video below, then head over to MTV.com for the full report.

I've got quite a lineup for you this morning in today's Daily TwitPic. "Harry Potter" star Tom Felton is a regular on MTV's Twitter-Wood feed. He's fully embraced micro-bloggery, and for that we fans can be thankful.
Felton has a lot of celebrity pals, as you might expect from guy who plays the school-age redemptive villain in the "Potter" series. In today's pic, he poses for a photo op with two other notable UK stars: Noel Clarke, who plays Mickey Smith on "Doctor Who," and Joseph Dempsie, who plays Chris Miles on the hit series "Skins," which is getting a US import on MTV to be set in Baltimore, Maryland. The threesome line up in support of the Robin Hood tax, which you can learn more about here. Read more...

Written By: Seth Hoffman & Quinton Peeples

Elsewhere, Stanford Wedeck (Courtney B. Vance) is tasked by the Vice President of the United States to investigate Jericho. His search leads directly to the doorstep of Aaron Stark (Brian F. O'Byrne), still in the process of tracking down his daughter's abductors. It just so happens that these two men can help each other out. Read more...
