"Lost" has ended.
Wait, let me rephrase that. The filming of "Lost" has ended. Last week, executive producers and co-showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse confirmed that the series finale has wrapped filming, meaning that each and every actor's work on the series is over. Pretty soon — as in less than a month soon — every aspect of "Lost" will be over. It's pretty surreal, isn't it?
We still have a few episodes to go before total "Lost" withdrawal, but sadly, there was no new episode to satisfy our cravings last night. Thankfully, Wired recently posted a photo of Lindelof and Cuse in the official "Lost" writer's room that provides plenty of intriguing (and potentially spoilery) easter eggs worth salivating over. You can check out some of the details I noticed after the jump.
Alterations: At the top of the image, there appears to be a timeline of the events of season five. Some of these events are described exactly as they played out, while others feature some significant alterations.
For instance, John Locke (Terry O'Quinn) wasn't really captured by Charles Widmore (Alan Dale), and he certainly wasn't rescued by Sayid (Naveen Andrews). Locke also didn't ask to be killed by Ben (Michael Emerson) — I think it's pretty safe to say that he was surprised by this turn of events! Also, the Oceanic Six did not return to the Island by way of Ajira Airways Flight 154 — the flight number was actually 316.
Here's the real question, though... are these discrepancies accidental or intentional? With "Lost" featuring a sideways reality in its final season, one can't be too sure.
Future Centricities: On the left hand side of the writer's room whiteboard, you'll notice six titles and square boxes apparently corresponding to the final season's episodes. Episode 610, "The Package," focused on Sun (Yunjin Kim) and Jin (Daniel Dae Kim), while episode 611, "Happily Ever After," focused on Desmond (Henry Ian Cusick).
But at the bottom of the list, you'll see the partially obscured names of two upcoming episodes. Based on a previously released press release, it's already known that episode 614 is titled "The Candidate," and despite the blurring's best attempts, you can see that the centric characters are Jack (Matthew Fox) and Locke.
The remaining episode title ("...ss The Sea") is harder to discern, and the centric character is also tough to identify definitively. The character seems to be named "...ey," and the third to last letter looks like a "k" to me. Could we be getting a "Smokey" episode in the near future?
Spoilers Ahoy: We enter firm spoiler territory at the center of the board with what appears to be a series of scene descriptions from upcoming episodes. Sawyer (Josh Holloway) will apparently get his mitts on Seamus (Fred Koehler), leaving Kate (Evangeline Lilly) vulnerable to attack.
Meanwhile, Jack and Bernard (Sam Anderson) are set to meet each other at a "dentist office," indicating that this scene takes place in the sideways reality. Jack apparently says to Bernard: "I want to ask you about a patient's accident." We know that Jack is currently operating on Locke, but how could that incident possibly benefit from a dentist's advice? It sounds to me like somebody's waking up!
On the far right, just obscured by Cuse's shoulder, we see some troubling scribblings about "murder," "trying to kill us again" and "demo aftermath." It's hard to know exactly who or what these deadly words pertain to, but as "Lost" is racing towards the finish line, nothing — and no one — is safe from death's door.
