What do "The Incredibles," "Shaun of the Dead" and "Zombieland" have in common? Since there are no undead in the Pixar flick, it must be... "Mission: Impossible 4"!!! Wait, what?
The word is that producer J.J. Abrams and star/producer Tom Cruise have met with the directors of those three films as possible candidate to helm IMF agent Ethan Hunt's next big screen adventure. THR's Heat Vision Blog broke the news, putting much of the shock value on "Incredibles" helmer Brad Bird, as this would be his first non-animated effort. And while Bird is certainly an odd man out compared to the other two possibilities, all three are compelling choices. Read more...

"Harry Potter" fans... your time has arrived. Our time has arrived (I share your excitement). The rich, fictional world J.K. Rowling created in her "Harry Potter" series is coming to life at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. First announced in 2007, details have been scant... until recently. With the new section of Universal's Islands of Adventure -- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter -- set to open on June 18 of this year, the past few months have seen a flood of new details emerge on what fans can expect.
MTV's own Terri Schwartz was down in Orlando for an in-person look at the attraction, and we'll have her impressions for you here later today. For now, behold the eye candy. Click the pic below for even more glimpses of what is sure to be an awesome theme park experience for Potter fans.

When I heard about the sad passing of Robert Culp earlier this evening, I immediately thought of his friend William Katt, who of course co-starred with the acting legend on the 1980s action show "Greatest American Hero." I happen to have email corresponded with William on occasion, so I asked for his reaction to the news and he very graciously sent me the following statement, along with the last photo he took with Robert (with Connie Sellecca at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con).
"Robert Culp was the grit and the gravity that kept 'The Greatest American Hero' honest. He was the reason the show worked! A tough guy with a heart of gold and a line delivery like no other. He was a teacher, a mentor and a good friend and I'll miss him. Wm katt"
Stay tuned to the MTV Movies Blog for more on the passing of Robert Culp.

Like many children of the 80s, I first encountered Robert Culp as the surly FBI handler in "Greatest American Hero." But in the years since then, I experienced more of the actor's wide body of work and he quickly became one of my favorite actors. I watched him in shows like "I Spy" and in films like "P.T. 109," and it was wildly entertaining to see him dish out his trademark barbs.
So it was with great enthusiasm that I booked an interview with the legend at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2008. I've dealt with the biggest stars around, from Anthony Hopkins to Leonardo DiCaprio, so I'm over the whole nervousness thing, but I'll admit I was scared s--tless going into my interview with Robert. Even in his late-70s, he was as snarky as ever and I didn't know what to expect. Thankfully he was very nice, but boy, was he able to throw out sarcasm like a master. I found that out firsthand when I called "Greatest American Hero" a superhero show, and he was lighting quick to jump on me for that.
Being a longtime fan, I loved being on the personal end of a Culp stinger and it was easily one of the highlights of my career. You can watch that moment in the video below, and be sure to stay tuned to the MTV Movies Blog for more on the passing of Robert Culp. He was an amazing figure and I'm very, very sorry to see him go.

Last night's "Lost" episode "Ab Aeterno" offered an extra helping of Nestor Carbonell action, and Rainn Wilson enjoyed the extra spotlight on Carbonell's character Richard Alpert. Matthew Perry, meanwhile, seemed more confused than anything and was more consumed by the night's look at Jacob.
And speaking of things to be confused about, Larry King showed up in a car with Snoop Dogg today, but the scene he shared on his Twitter feed is more than worth your time. Check out two retweeted shots after jump. There, you will find out where Emma Roberts is filming, some thoughts on Vice President Joseph Biden's f-bomb slip-up and who got to meet Justin Bieber last night. All of that info shows up in the Twitter-Wood round-up for March 24th, 2010. Read more...

"Clash of the Titans" is out next Friday! Woo-hoo! To get us all pumped up during this home stretch, Warner Bros has just released a bunch of clips. In the video below, Perseus (Sam Worthington) and Zeus (Liam Neeson) have a heated exchange over the former's decision to live amongst the humans. Only Worthington would tell the king of the gods to piss off. And after the year he had in 2009, he's perfectly justified.

"Jay and Seth Vs. the Apocalypse" is one of those "white whale" movies. You know, "Moby Dick"? Captain Ahab's relentless pursuit of a white whale, a hunt which ultimately costs him everything? A much-talked-about movie isn't going to be dragging anyone down into the depths of the ocean of course, but it's certainly caused some trouble now and again for "How To Train Your Dragon" star Jay Baruchel, as he told MTV contributor Ryan Downey at the "Dragon" press junket last week.
"['Jay and Seth Vs. the Apocalypse' has] been something else" -- like "Goon," a long-talked-about hockey flick for Baruchel -- "where... once or twice a year, there's a bit of news about it," he said. "[Co-star Seth Rogen's] made me look like an ass for saying that we'd be working on it by the end of the year and stuff." Read more...

One of the best books you'll read this year is the just-released "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," by Seth Grahame-Smith. No, really. It's a clever re-telling of the 16th president's life, only tweaked to include a vast, vampire-led conspiracy in the early life of the United States, through the slavery years and into the Civil War.
We reported a couple weeks ago that Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov optioned the book for a film adaptation, and will serve as producers. Although Grahame-Smith is now preparing a draft of the script for the planned movie, he was kind enough to take some time out of his busy schedule to chat with MTV last week about how the book came together and how it will be executed for film audiences. "Alice in Wonderland" had a few questionable moments -- seriously, what was with that dance thing at the end? -- but it's one of the strongest efforts from Tim Burton in this decade. A lot of the credit for that goes to the writing; Linda Woolverton concocted a screenplay that told a brand-new story while properly evoking the spirit of Lewis Carroll's original works.
Woolverton is no stranger to Disney fare. She wrote "The Lion King" and contributed to the scripts for "Beauty and the Beast" and "Mulan." It's not Disney, but her first writing gig was on two episodes of the "Ewoks" animated series. And that's just rad. Today's news concerns her Woolverton's next project: she'll write for flesh-and-blood humans, the live-action "Beauty and the Beast" spin-off, "Maleficent." Read more...

On this day 45 years ago, Martin Luther King Jr. led a group of civil rights protesters to the City of St. Jude, a Roman Catholic school on the outskirts of Montgomery, Alabama. The historic march, which started days earlier in the city of Selma, would culminate the next day at the State Capitol Building in Montgomery.
For his next project, "Precious" director Lee Daniels will tell the story of this culminating moment for the American civil rights movement in "Selma." He told MTV in an exclusive interview yesterday that the cast is firming up. The key roles of President Lyndon Baines Johnson and Ralph Abernathy are set. Alabama Governor George Wallace remains unconfirmed, but an offer is out and a deal is waiting to be finalized. Read more...
