The battle to overtake Justin Bieber in Twitter's trending topics rankings gained two determined competitors with the new "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" trailer and John Cusack's relentless support of "Hot Tub Time Machine." Both films got some face time with Twitter, but Bieber has thus far stayed the course.

In other tweets, Jessica Simpson and Fred Durst mourned the loss of famed rock photographer Jim Marshall, and Simpson posted some shots of his work that she's collected over the years. See for yourself below, where you can also find out about a runaway monkey in Florida, see who else has been trying out Chatroulette and read Aziz Ansari's thoughts on Chris Evans as Captain America. It's all in Twitter-Wood for March 25th, 2010. Read More...

"Machine Gun Preacher." That's a helluva title, isn't it? It's an upcoming "based on truth" story directed by Marc Forster and starring Gerard Butler. The actor told MTV contributor Ryan Downey all about the planned 2012 release when the two chatted last week at the press junket for "How To Train Your Dragon," which hits theaters tomorrow.

"It's an incredible story," he said. He's right too-- it's pretty wacky. Hit the jump for Butler's lengthy explanation. Read More...

This December, the family Focker returns to big screens after a few years away. Info has been slowly dribbling out about "Little Fockers" over the past bunch of months, but its mostly been casting. Very little in the way of plot details. That all changed at ShoWest, when MTV's Larry Carroll spoke with producer (and director of the first two movies) Jay Roach.

"It's Owen Wilson coming back with a new passion for Ben [Stiller's] wife, Teri Polo," Roach said of the "Little Fockers" story. "And of course it's hidden and it's all under the surface, but it causes a lot of new wrinkles in the relationship between all of them." Read More...

Still riding on the success of "Juno," for which she won a screenwriting Oscar, Diablo Cody is reuniting with that film's producers for a new film she's written titled "Young Adult." According to THR's Risky Biz Blog, the comedy does not involve young adults but rather a thirtysomething author of the YA literary genre. Recently divorced, the character returns to the town she grew up in and links back up with "the one who got away," despite the fact he's now a husband and a father.

The "Juno" reunion for this homewrecker story consists of Cody, Mandate Pictures (and its head, Nathan Kahane) and producers John Malkovich, Lianne Halfon, Russell Smith and Mason Novick. The last of these re-teaming collaborators also worked with the writer on the disappointing "Jennifer's Body" and is attached as a producer on her upcoming (or least set-up) projects "Girly Style," "Breathers: A Zombie's Lament" and the YA series adaptation "Sweet Valley High." My love of movies will always be associated with weekends at my dad's house. And not just because each visit included one or two trips to the multiplex and upwards of ten VHS rentals. It was also when I'd watch "At the Movies," the review show hosted by Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel, which has now been canceled after nearly 30 years (it will continue with new episodes for the next five months before going away forever).

Most of my experience with the show was when it was titled "Siskel & Ebert & the Movies." Long before I ever read film reviews, this was my first exposure to film criticism. More importantly though, it was my introduction to the general concept of talking about movies with a friend, an enemy, or something in between, as the duo appeared to be. The fact that I now write about movies for MTV Movies Blog and other outlets is definitely related to those early viewings. Read More...

One of the more exciting comedic pairings in movies this year is Tina Fey and Steve Carell in "Date Night." The duo star as an unhappily married couple who try to bring a little romance back into their lives with a night out on the town. Things get a little crazy when a case of mistaken identity lands them in hot water with the mob.

In the clip below, Fey and Carell worry over the dire consequences of losing an important piece of technology. After all... nobody wants to be "wacked off."

"Buck Rogers." Remember him? The basic premise is pretty simple: a fighter pilot who is surveying an abandoned mine when a strange gas causes him to pass out. He wakes up 500 years later, in the year 2429, and becomes a swashbuckling action hero. Rogers is one of the early space action heroes, finding his contemporaries in characters created by Jules Verne, H.G. Wells and Edgar Rice Burroughs. Most people nowadays know the character best from the late-70s TV series, but his roots actually lie much further back: Buck Rogers originated in a pair of short stories published in 1928 and 1929.

Variety reported yesterday that Paul W.S. Anderson will be stepping up to helm a big screen adaptation, working off of a script from "Iron Man" writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. The job once belonged to Frank Miller, but Anderson now has the gig. He's someone that film fans have a lot of opinions about. In both directions. So I'm here to consider some of the pros and some of the cons in Anderson taking the reins on "Rogers." Read More...

It's no secret that I've been pretty excited about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for quite a long time. Over on Movies Blog's sister blog, Hollywood Crush, I've been covering news about the park pretty much since the beginning, and named it the release in 2010 that we are most excited for. Butterbeer and my favorite wizard at a theme park? Yes, please.

So when Universal invited us down to get a first look at the park, it was pretty much a dream come true. I've grown up with the "Harry Potter" series and while I wouldn't consider myself a die-hard fan of the series, I hold the story pretty close to my heart. Read More...
