The battle to overtake Justin Bieber in Twitter's trending topics rankings gained two determined competitors with the new "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" trailer and John Cusack's relentless support of "Hot Tub Time Machine." Both films got some face time with Twitter, but Bieber has thus far stayed the course.

My love of movies will always be associated with weekends at my dad's house. And not just because each visit included one or two trips to the multiplex and upwards of ten VHS rentals. It was also when I'd watch "At the Movies," the review show hosted by Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel, which 
"Buck Rogers." Remember him? The basic premise is pretty simple: a fighter pilot who is surveying an abandoned mine when a strange gas causes him to pass out. He wakes up 500 years later, in the year 2429, and becomes a swashbuckling action hero. Rogers is one of the early space action heroes, finding his contemporaries in characters created by Jules Verne, H.G. Wells and Edgar Rice Burroughs. Most people nowadays know the character best from the late-70s TV series, but his roots actually lie much further back: Buck Rogers originated in a pair of short stories published in 1928 and 1929.
