I'm pretty excited for this horror movie "The Apparition." It features "Twilight" star Ashley Greene, "Harry Potter" star Tom Felton and Sebastian Stan, who shows up in this week's surefire comedy hit "Hot Tub Time Machine." There's not a whole lot known about the movie, but that's a solid lineup. Greene is certainly excited about the gig, as she told MTV's Josh Horowitz in a recent interview.

"That has been one of the most incredible experiences," she said. After South By Southwest, Greene headed back for the final stretch of shooting. And it's clear in the way she talks about the movie that she can't wait for us all to see it. Read More...

Depending on whether or not you're heading to movie theaters this weekend, you might learn a little something or two about "How To Train Your Dragon." In all likelihood, you're not going to encounter too many fire-breathing winged beasts in your life — I would hope not, anyway — but in case you do, DreamWorks' latest 3-D animated feature should teach you a couple of tricks on how to tame such a mythical creature.

But if you have plans that prevent you from heading to the local cinema in the near future, never fear — there are plenty of other films that have already laid out a few lessons on how to train your pet dragon, or at least how to avoid getting killed by one!

After the jump, check out some of the lessons we've learned from other cinematic dragons. Read More...

Today is Leonard Nimoy's 79th birthday. Whether you think of him as Spock, The Great Paris, William Bell or the narrator guy in "Civilization IV" -- let's face it, you probably know him for at least one of those -- he's certainly left an indelible mark on pop culture. So today we wish Mr. Nimoy a very happy birthday.

And please, Leonard... come back to "Fringe" already!!!

In the video below, you can see Nimoy and "Star Trek" pal William Shatner, who also turned 79 this week, in a 1992 appearance on "The Arsenio Hall Show." And yes, it is as amazing as it sounds.

Have you seen "The House of the Devil"? It's one of those relatively recent horror films that's sprung up as a sort of response to excessively gory fare like "Saw," "Hostel," the "Halloween" remakes and so forth. "Devil" is different. It's more about the suspense, the build to something terrifying. It's less about what you see than what you imagine.

You don't have to take my word for it though. See for yourself tomorrow night on MTV, at 10pm. You can get a taste right here, in the trailer below.

There is nothing strange about the premise of "Hot Tub Time Machine," certainly not in comparison to other movies dealing with time travel. While it might seem weird that four buddies can just plop down inside of a steamy outdoor bath and subsequently jump back in time to the 1980s, trust me — that's not as weird as it can get.

Time travel is an odd beast that has been at the heart of several films over the years, for better or worse. After the jump, we've listed some of the most bizarre ways that heroes, villains and unwitting everymen have sailed through time thanks to the delightfully demented minds working in Hollywood. A new name entered the potential directors pool for "Breaking Dawn" yesterday: Stephen Daldry. He previously directed only three films -- "The Reader," "The Hours" and "Billy Elliott" -- but he received Academy Award nominations for all three of them. Daldry joins a group of three previously named talents who Summit is considering to helm the final installment in the "Twilight" series.

Last week, the news emerged that the studio had Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola and Bill Condon on their short list of potential helmers. These are four serious names; Summit clearly wants to bring out the biggest guns they can in capping off the high school romance-meets-vampires saga. They also want to serve the fans, since you're the ones who made this series such a big deal. And we're here to help. Tell us which of the four directors we know to be in the running you'd most like to see get the gig. I can't promise you that Summit will listen, but I can't promise they won't either. Let's just quickly recap the potential directors one more time before we get to the poll. Read More...

Jackson Rathbone has now starred in three vampire movies (you may have heard of them, "Twilight" something or other), but the 25-year-old actor's first foray into horror is "Dread," newly released on DVD, about a college student who makes a documentary about what people dread most in life.

The film, based on a short story by horror king Clive Barker, isn't necessarily typical of the genre, Rathbone said in an interview yesterday. "I hate to call it a horror film because it's really more of a psychological thriller," he said. "Clive Barker's known for those horroristic elements, and it was more of a humanistic story." While Seth Grahame-Smith is busy adapting his latest book, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" into a feature film script for producers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov, Natalie Portman and David O. Russell are off prepping an adaptation of the author's first book, "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." Jane Austen's classic received a supernatural twist when Grahame-Smith carefully inserted a zombie post-apocalypse setting into the snapshot of early 19th century English society as seen through the eyes of Elizabeth Bennet.

The news broke late last year than the adaptation was coming, with Portman set to produce and star. A rumor emerged shortly thereafter that Russell had come aboard to write and direct, a fact Grahame-Smith later confirmed. When I spoke to him last week, the "Zombies" author told me that he's not very involved with the planning process for this one, and he's perfectly happy with that. Read More...
