I arrived at work this morning to an e-mail from MTV Movies managing editor Josh Horowitz bearing the subject line "This demands attention." Boy was he right. What we have here is one of the best mash-up videos you'll ever see (this week), compliments of CollegeHumor. "Star Wars" meets Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind," complete with remixed clips from the movies, Princess Leia-as-Alicia Keys and a dancing Wookiee. Frankly, they had me at "dancing Wookiee."

In other news, the Death Star has been found! In orbit around Saturn!!! In the words of a certain golden droid, we're doomed! That's no moon... oh. Wait. Yes it is. Read More...

"24" will end after eight seasons on Fox, and unless the show finds another home, Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub won't be the only ones left to wonder about what might of have been in a ninth season. I'm not sure that Rainn Wilson's character from "The Office" had a great shot at a cameo to begin with, though.

Wrestlemania XXVI headliner Shawn Michaels also reached an end over the weekend, thanks to his takedown at the hands of The Undertaker. You can see who was watching that, as well as what David Spade thought about hanging out at the Kids' Choice Awards, who stopped for a photo op with Justin Bieber and where Jon Favreau's at with "Iron Man 2." It's all documented in Twitter-Wood for March 29th, 2010. Read More...

After eight seasons, the Kiefer Sutherland-starring spy series "24" will come to an end on May 24. Fox revealed on Friday that this season's closer will cap off the series. Sutherland further confirmed to EW.com that there won't be any return to TV for the show on another network. Big screens perhaps, but no network migration.

“The writers are producing the equivalent of 12 films a year, which is unheard of, and producer Howard Gordon] felt to do a ninth would be potentially damaging,” Sutherland said. “We both felt strongly that there has been a demand and an interest in a '24' film, which would be a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day, so we felt it was time to move in that direction.”

So the news a few weeks ago about momentum building around a movie adaptation wasn't idle talk. But which characters will return? Sutherland's Jack Bauer of course. But who else? Perhaps Chase Edmunds, who was played by "The Pacific" star James Badge Dale? Read More...

Liam Hemsworth is currently the only guy, or girl for that matter, cast in "Arabian Nights," set to start shooting this September. The "Last Song" star admits that it's going to take the right kind of action star to play his pal in the flick, Sinbad. So does that mean he thinks that comedian, "Houseguest" star and "Celebrity Apprentice" castoff Sinbad need not apply?

"I'm the first person cast. They're looking at people at the moment," he said of the flick in an interview with MTV today. "Um… yeah people have said that to me actually," he added when asked if they'd consider Sinbad to play the role of, well Sinbad. "I don’t know. You know someone action hero-ish [might be more fitting]." Read More...

Though the box office gross for "Hot Tub Time Machine" was eclipsed by "How To Train Your Dragon," I hope enough of you saw the movie to participate in a discussion of the ending. Don't worry, for those of you who haven't yet had a chance to see it, I won't spoil any details until after the jump. If you had written off "Hot Tub" as just another time travel comedy, I encourage you to check it out and come back here with your thoughts.

I wonder if some people avoided "Hot Tub" because it seemed less focused on the time travel/sci-fi elements than it was on the gross-out comedy elements. The science of time travel isn't fully explored in the movie, but the very broad moral issues and hypotheticals are addressed, mostly for comic effect (one gag in particular involving a squirrel humorously addresses the "butterfly effect"). The ending raises one of the issues I've had with certain time travel stories ever since "Back to the Future," a movie that "Hot Tub" references a whole heck of a lot. You've been warned... spoilers ahead! Read More...

It's 3-D Week here at MTV, but just because we're celebrating the game changing film format doesn't mean we've forgotten some of the other unconventional ways to enjoy a movie experience. Over the years, there have been some brilliant and some not-so-brilliant but no less ambitious attempts to change the way that the public views a movie, whether that's at a local cinema, in the comfort of your own home or somewhere else entirely.

After the jump, we've listed some of the most memorable moviegoing fads that have come and gone over the years — some of which are still in practice today. Read More...

Last week, we brought you some of Jackson Rathbone's thoughts on his latest movie, "Dread," which hit DVD last week on March 23. Today we have an exclusive look at the lengths the "Twilight" star went to in prepping for his performance. The headline pretty much says it all folks, so put your forks down before you watch.

I really wish I'd prepped this post after lunch.

Wolfgang Petersen may not have been asked to contribute to the "Neverending Story" Blu-ray, but he has plenty of other new films to stay focused on. His live-action "Paprika" adaptation is "on the fast track," and now his Sony project "Uprising" looks like it could be getting close the gate as well. In fact, in a recent interview with MTV's Brian Jacks Petersen seemed confident that "Uprising" will be his next stop.

"It looks like it," the "Troy" director said. "It’s a very exciting project for Sony."

Petersen revealed the blockbuster-scaled story about Earth after an alien invasion was "going full speed ahead" at the studio and will come tagged with a large budget. Read More...

The 2010 edition of the MTV Movie Awards is set to air on Sunday, June 6, at 9pm ET. As you might remember from last year, for the first time we left the selection of candidates up to you. Nominees were voted on, whittled down and then voted on again by a public poll in the weeks leading up to the show. This year's show returns to that format, with 13 categories on the block. In addition to old standards like Best Kiss and Best Fight, there are several new ones: Global Superstar, Best Ass-Kicking Star and Best Scared-as-S--t Performance.

The categories are currently wide-open as we sort through the votes and select your final nominees in each. You'll be able to make your picks from an existing group -- or add in your own -- starting today and continuing until Friday, April 9, at 6pm ET. Voting will re-open on May 11 with each category finalized; you'll be able to vote for your top selection until June 5. The only oddball is Best Movie-- that voting category will be open through the show, closing just before the winner is announced on the night of June 6.

Cast your vote RIGHT NOW at MovieAwards.MTV.com!

One of the big 3-D releases coming later this year is "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole." Directed by Zack Snyder, the man behind "300" and 2011 release "Sucker Punch," the story will follow the events laid out in the first three books in author Kathryn Lasky's 15-book series.

The star of the show is Soren (pictured above, voiced by Jim Sturgess), an young owl who is taken in by St. Aggie's, a supposed orphanage which actually brainwashes owls for their own nefarious purposes. Soren realizes what's going on and escapes with the new friends he makes there, setting out on a journey to the island of Ga'Hoole. He hopes to enlist the aid the noble owls there to free the brainwashed residents of St. Aggie's from their evil overlords.

That's Soren in the exclusive image up top, looking very serious about saving his friends. Try to imagine that pic popping out of the screen and flying into your face in gorgeous digital 3-D.

MTV's 3-D Week has arrived! Stay tuned all this week for exclusive updates on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," "Clash of the Titans," "Tron Legacy" and more.
