Twitter-Wood name dropping was in full effect today, with Tom Felton running into Robert Pattinson, Simon Pegg hanging out with Christopher Lee and David Pressman having drinks with Sam Worthington. Even the loners were tweeting about other people, though, as Greg Mottola shared his first memory of seeing the late Alex Chilton, and Neil Patrick Harris clarified Hank Azaria's role as Gargamel in "The Smufs."

Check out what everyone was saying about each other after the jump, where you'll also find Frankie Muniz's "American Idol" frustrations, Jimmy Fallon's case for canonizing Samuel L. Jackson and an unsettling shot from Kevin Nealon taken on the set of his new Adam Sandler movie. It's all in Twitter-Wood for March 18th, 2010. Read More...

Following up last year's "Bright Star," Abbie Cornish is moving forward with yet another period piece. This one's a little more modern however, and it's being directed by none other than Madonna. According to Variety, the young actress will star in "W.E.," a film about the scandalous 1936 marriage of Wallis Simpson, an American socialite, to King Edward VIII, who had to give up his crown as a result.

Last month, when we first reported on Madonna's film, "Up in the Air" Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga was reportedly interested in the part. Even she wasn't quite old enough to play Simpson, who was 40 at the time of her wedding to Edward. Yet the 27-year-old Cornish seems even less appropriate for the role. Honestly, I'm still unclear why Madonna wouldn't play Simpson, despite being a little on the older side. Supposedly she's as passionate about this project as she was about "Evita," and she starred in that. Read More...

We have a quick update for you on the "Smurfs" movie, straight from the mouth of live-action lead Neil Patrick Harris, who is out at ShoWest to promote "Beastly." MTV's Larry Carroll spoke to him, but as he's currently running from interview to interview we wanted to quickly bring you the straight news.

"The Simpsons" voice actor and all-around awesome dude Hank Azaria was revealed yesterday as the voice of Smurf arch-nemesis Gargamel. NPH later clarified on his Twitter feed that Azaria would play the evil sorcerer in a live-action role. Read More...

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Ashley Greene spent the early part of the week in Austin, partying it up at the South By Southwest (SXSW) film festival to debut her new film, "Skateland." She took the time to chat with MTV News and explain the film for those of us at home who think it's only about rollerskating.

"It's set in Texas in the 1980s and it's basically a coming-of-age story of Ritchie Wheeler, who Shiloh Fernandez plays, but also my character, Michelle Burkham, and my brother Brent [played by Heath Freeman]," she explained. "There's a place called Skateland that closes and it's something that we all go to and we all kind of relate to and see ourselves around and we're used to having this and it's kind of ripped away and so it kind of jumpstarts us realizing that there's a lot of things we have to figure out."

Tim Burton is returning to the world of stop-motion. The stop-mo remake of his 1984 short "Frankenweenie" is still down with Disney for a 2011 release (we'll see), but that's not what I'm talking about.

Today's news, via Deadline Hollywood, is that Burton's next stop-mo project -- which will also be in 3-D -- will be an adaptation of "The Addams Family." He's looking back though, past the two Barry Sonnenfeld-directed movies, the cartoon show, the video games, even the 1960s TV series. Burton will instead draw his inspiration from the original Charles Addams illustrations, which appeared in The New Yorker as single panel cartoons between 1938 and 1988, when Addams passed away. The headline pretty much says it all. In the below clip from "The Runaways," you'll see "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart -- as Joan Jett -- picking up a guitar and wailing away in nothing more than a t-shirt and panties. Think "Risky Business," only more metal, less Tom Cruise.

Here's a brief bit of... interesting news. "Kane & Lynch: Dead Men" wasn't the best of video games, but it nonetheless delivered an intriguing tale of two anti-hero criminals, one of them a death row-convicted killer of 25 and the other, a crazed sociopath who suffers from psychotic blackouts and hallucinations.

Whatever you may think of the game, the story is ripe for a film adaptation. Which is actually happening, at Lionsgate, with newcomer Kyle Ward writing a script. Bruce Willis was confirmed by producer Adrian Askarieh for the role of Kane and now an unlikely bit of casting news has emerged for the role of Lynch: Jamie Foxx. Read More...
