A minor Twit-pocalypse broke out yesterday when LeVar Burton accidentally posted his phone number to his account. It sounds like he had to get his number changed thanks to all of the incoming calls, but luckily for him, his old "Star Trek: The Next Generation" co-stars Wil Wheaton and Brent Spiner were around to lend moral support.
Judging from the Twitter-Wood feed, everyone who wasn't calling LeVar was at the Hollywood Bowl to see Paul McCartney, and a few posted pictures from the event. Click on past the jump and you can see who was there, as well as what Damon Lindelof thought about "Lost" this week, what Tom Hanks looks like during location scouting and what Richard Kelly thinks of the iPad. It's all in Twitter-Wood for March 31st, 2010. Read more...

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is pretty great. Really. I've never been much of a wrestling fan, but I've definitely enjoyed his work as an actor. "The Rundown" and "Walking Tall" are both pure entertainment. And his presence in both "Be Cool" and "Southland Tales" elevated those two relative disasters. He's been in a couple movies since those which I haven't seen, but I'm really looking forward to his next one, "Faster," featuring an ensemble cast that includes Billy Bob Thornton, Carla Gugino, Moon Bloodgood, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Maggie Grace.
Johnson told MTV's Larry Carroll at ShoWest recently that there's one other notable name in the cast, someone who hasn't come up yet in previous announcements: "Dexter" star Jennifer Carpenter. "['Faster' is] like a mix between 'The Good, the Bad & the Ugly' [and] 'Bullitt.' It has an old-school texture to it where no one has names. There's the Driver, the Killer, the Cop, the Evangelist, the Woman," he said. Larry asked, is "The Woman" Gugino? "She's actually a cop too," Johnson replied. "Jennifer Carpenter." Neat! Read more...

In an exclusive interview published earlier today on MTV.com, "Piranha 3-D" director Alexandre Aja touted the "3-D double-D boobs" you'll see in his August 27 release. He also described one scene from the movie, a 25-minute "massacre" that he believes beats the record set by "Kill Bill" for most fake blood used in a movie. The exclusive image below gives you a taste of that scene. That's my guess anyway, based on the scale of the carnage and the amount of red in the water.

It's 3-D Week on MTV.com! All this week, we're bringing you the latest news on your most-anticipated upcoming 3-D releases, along with plenty of exclusive content and the same great opinions and commentary you've come to expect from the talented MTV Movies team.

This is a sad, sad day. David Mills was one of the great ones. The noted journalist/producer/screenwriter passed away suddenly yesterday in New Orleans at the age of 48, the victim of a brain aneurysm. Mills is perhaps known best for his work on the Baltimore-set HBO miniseries "The Corner," which he co-wrote and co-executive produced with David Simon. The six-episode mini picked up three primetime Emmys: Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie, or Dramatic Special, Outstanding Mini-Series -- both of which went to Mills -- and Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special, for the work of Charles S. Dutton.
Prior to "The Corner," Mills had previously worked with Simon once before as a writer on an episode of "Homicide: Life on the Street." He went on to write a season four episode of "The Wire" ("Soft Eyes") and later returned to that team as a staff writer for the HBO series' fifth and final season, a gig that earned him a Writer's Guild of America nomination for Best Dramatic Series in 2009. He also has series writer and co-executive producer credits on "Treme," HBO's David Simon/Eric Overmyer series, which premieres on April 11. Read more...

Filming a movie from the ground up with 3-D technology isn't the only way to get fans to experience a three-dimensional smorgasbord of theatrical goodness — just look at "Clash of the Titans," Louis Leterrier's upcoming swords-and-sandals epic that was retroactively converted to 3-D once filming was completed.
As that technology clearly exists, there are plenty of movies, both classic and recent, that would be fantastic to see through a 3-D lens. After the jump, we've listed a few of the films we think should get a 3-D conversion. Read more...

If you're not looking forward to "Iron Man 2," then you're either not a fan of blockbuster action or you hate fun. Don't argue-- this is simply a fact. So as long as you don't fall into that mutant minority, there's a cool new thing on the Internet today that you ought to get excited about.
Tony Stark is the fictional captain of industry who leads a secret second life as the costumed superhero Iron Man. He is one of the foremost scientific minds on the planet, but he's got killer business sense and an A-list superstar's sense of style. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Donald Trump and George Clooney rolled into one. This fact is apparent on a new website that launched today, promoting Stark Expo 2010, which happens to kick off on the same day "Iron Man 2" hits theatres. For more on the new viral destination, check out the rundown on MTV Splash Page or head over to the new page and see for yourself.

Call them "cult classics." "Guilty pleasures." "Comfort movies." We all have a mental rolodex of flicks that may not be terribly popular but, for one reason or another, they resonate in a very special way. Maybe you saw it at the right moment. Maybe you just see gold where everyone else sees feces. Whatever the case, these are the special favorites that you keep stashed away for sick days. Here are some of ours.
Jaime Escalante, 79, passed away yesterday afternoon at his son's home in Roseville, CA. The legendary schoolteacher is notable for his accomplishments at East LA's Garfield High School, a story which was related in the 1988 film "Stand and Deliver," starring Edward James Olmos in the Escalante role. It's a movie that has long been a staple in middle school and high school classrooms, the sort of thing that math teachers love to have substitutes screen when they're out. Read more...

"Avatar" changed the game for Hollywood last year with its incredible 3-D presentation and "Tron Legacy" will keep that trend flying high at the end of this year, but Alexandre Aja knows what the real appeal of 3-D is: T&A. His "Piranha 3-D" hits theaters on August 27, and there'll be plenty of T&A on hand to titillate 3-D-loving audiences. Aja promises "3-D double-D boobs" along with generous helpings of bloody violence.
"I think we broke all the records in the manner of blood used," he said in an exclusive interview with MTV's Eric Ditzian. "I don't remember the exact number, but we passed 'Kill Bill.' You've never seen something like that before." Much of the fake blood is spilled during one scene in particular, involving a wet t-shirt contest. Read more...
As if yesterday's news of a Stephenie Meyer-penned "Eclipse" spin-off novella wasn't enough, now we've got some new looks at the movie adaptation of the third chapter in the series. Summit released three new stills from "Eclipse," one of which you can see below. What could possibly make the Cullens look so serious there? Are they preparing to go head-to-head with Victoria, the red-headed vampiress now played by Bryce Dallas Howard (formerly Rachelle Lefevre). Click the image to check out the rest of our "Eclipse" image gallery.
