DESCWhen Seann William Scott spoke with MTV News about rejoining the "American Pie" franchise, he expressed some concern that he'll be remembered forever as Steve Stifler, the raunchy prankster that launched Scott to stardom. But the actor has some other tricks in his playbook that he's yet to unleash, and with the help of his "Cop Out" director, he might just get to "Hit Somebody."

Speaking with MTV's Josh Horowitz, Scott confirmed the recent news that he'll star in "Hit Somebody" for Kevin Smith. The role would see Scott playing Buddy, a hockey enforcer striving to score just one goal in a hockey game. Read more...

It's been known for awhile now that the higher powers at Disney intend to bring "Captain EO" back. The sudden passing of Michael Jackson last summer led to a renewed interest in the 3-D sci-fi movie/theme park attraction. Really, it was inevitable that it would return.

The word straight from the Mouse House is that "EO" will be back on Tuesday, February 23. Yes, that's tomorrow. The 3-D musical will screen in the theme park's Tomorrowland Theater, complete with a shiny new 70mm print and improved sound thanks to "acoustic enhancements made to the theater since the film last played there in 1997." FROM MTV.COM: Taylor Lautner has been lining up a lot of work lately, landing the lead roles in the big-screen adaptation of the TV show "Max Steel" and the effort to bring the action figure Stretch Armstrong to the big screen. Now he's ready to go missing. Lionsgate has bought the script for the thriller "Abduction" and cast the "Twilight" star as a young man who sees his baby picture on a missing persons Web site.

Lionsgate picked up the project after a week-long bidding war for Shawn Christensen's spec script. Variety reports that the studio paid a sum in the "high six figures" for the script, which the studio will co-produce with Gotham Group, Vertigo Entertainment and Lautner's production company Tailor Made.

DESCAfter several years away from the big screen, the "American Pie" franchise has found a home in the direct-to-video market. Other than the occasional appearance from Eugene Levy and a few other tangential connections, those movies have little to do with the lewd trilogy that most viewers remember. But a recently announced "American Pie" installment is looking to change all that by bringing back the original cast for another theatrical round of pastry-poking mayhem.

Seven years have passed since "American Wedding," the last big screen installment in the series, so how likely is it that Jason Biggs, Chris Klein and the others will return for a fourth outing? Honestly, who really cares — as long as Seann William Scott is back as Steve Stifler, the masses will be pleased. Read more...

John Lasseter is very excited about the new “Toy Story 3” toys. As he should be, given that he’s chief creative officer of Pixar and Disney. But it’s more than that. Lasseter is a lifelong toy enthusiast who has exhibited his interest in playthings since the beginnings of Pixar, with short films like “Luxo Jr.” and “Tin Toy.”

The animator-turned-exec was in New York City to unveil the new line of “Toy Story 3” toys and be inducted into the Toy Industry Hall of Fame, an honor he shares with no less than Walt Disney. “Toys have been such a big part of my life,” he told MTV News during the event. “And of course it's my love for toys that was the original idea for ‘Toy Story,’ so it's fun. It’s like we’ve come full circle.” Read more...

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has been a steadily growing presence in Hollywood since his 2005 big screen debut, "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'." That first outing was a little rough, but he's since improved his game in "Righteous Kill," "Home of the Brave" and, most recently, the Sundance favorite "Twelve," which wider audiences will hopefully get to see later this year. Jackson is getting ready for his next feature now, and he'll be trading in the trademark Kevlar vest for bulkier shoulder pads and a team jersey.

The movie is "Things Fall Apart," which Jackson and partner Randall Emmett will produce through their Cheetah Vision Films label, Variety reports. The story follows a talented college football running back who "faces a personal tragedy as well as his own mortality" in his senior year. Jackson will take on the starring role; he also co-wrote the script with Brian Miller. Mario Van Peebles will direct. Read more...

DESCFor better or worse, Marlon Wayans — he of "Little Man" and "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," among others — is going to play Richard Pryor in an upcoming biopic. Given his limited but praised dramatic experience, Wayans seems an unlikely pick for the part, but until we see some meaningful footage of the actor as the late comedian, it's not entirely fair to judge Wayans' merits just yet. Still, with production on "Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?" set to begin this fall, the time for judgment is almost at hand.

"This is like an invitation to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro for me, and I've never been more excited in my life than when I got the role," Wayans told The Los Angeles Times about the upcoming film, which he begins shooting in the fall under the directorial eye of Bill Condon. "I want to be in dramas, I want to produce, I want to write and I want to prove I can handle a role such as this one." Read more...

Talk of a sequel to "Pineapple Express" has kinda been the Internet version of dorm room stoner talk: Dude, that would be so sick if they did another one!! The chatter seemed as substantial as smoke wafting out of a bong, as tethered to reality as James Franco and Seth Rogen's brains after lighting up some of the title ganja in their 2008 comedy.

Rogen has talked to us a bit about the possibility of a sequel, as has producer Judd Apatow, but it all seemed simply like a whole lotta hot air without much action behind it. But at Sundance last month, Franco told us that some concrete steps are likely in the works for bringing more "Pineapple" to the big screen.

"I think some practical steps are being taken to actually make it happen," he told MTV's Josh Horowitz.

Was Franco just engaging in some idle chit-chat? Could a sequel really happen? Hit play on the video to find out and hear why Franco said, "I think it's in the air. We certainly have discussed it and all dreamed about it."

DESCWith "Up" nominated for the Best Picture award at the Oscars this year and an almost certain victory in the Best Animated Feature category, Pixar is clearly at the top of its game — which is exactly why a Pixar alumnus is looking to tip the scale by spinning a "Little White Lie."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris McCoy and Jan Pinkava are teaming together to co-write "Little White Lie" for Laika Entertainment, the same company responsible for "Coraline." Read more...

For the record, I'm a fan of body art. I don't have any ink myself, but there's something to be said for caring so much about something that you want to have its likeness imprinted forever on yourself.

That said, today's Daily TwitPic is a little bit creepy. Ashton Kutcher seems incredulous in his tweet, but not necessarily thrown. If he is, he's hiding it well. I sure would be. What we have after the jump is a Siberian man's forearm, which will forever bear a colorful, stylized portrait of Kutcher. I am frequently thankful that I'm not a celebrity, and here's yet another reason why. Read more...
