Can you hear that creaking noise? It's the sound of the Farrelly brothers-led "Hall Pass" straining beneath the weight of the huge -- and ever-growing -- ensemble cast. A group that currently includes Owen Wilson, Amanda Bynes, Jenna Fischer, "The Office" star Stephen Merchant, "Saturday Night Live" comic Jason Sudeikis, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" favorite J.B. Smoove (LEON!), Nicky Whelan and Derek Waters.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter brings the news that four more have joined the cast: Christina Applegate, Alyssa Milano, "According to Jim" star Larry Campbell and "Weird Science" TV series star Vanessa Angel. Whew. Read more...

The media blitz for Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" has been hard to miss. Some might call it excessive, but you can't really blame the studio. "Alice" is one of their most fan-supported classic properties, this sequel (yes, it is-- stop that) features the superstar pairing of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp and next Friday's long-awaited release will sport a beautiful 3-D print, supplanting 2009's record-shattering sci-fi epic "Avatar" from those screens.

Now, we've officially entered the last leg of impatiently waiting for "Alice" to hit theaters: the movie premiered in London and the stars walked the red carpet to show their support, including Depp as you can see in the image below. For more looks at the carpet festivities click the pic to jump over to the full image gallery.

In 2008, Angelina Jolie appeared in a pseudo-comic book adaptation of "Wanted." I say pseudo because the movie had very little to do with the source when all was said and done. Still, the insanely well-staged and stylized action sequences masterminded by director Timur Bekmambetov left fans clamoring for more, and more was reportedly moving along swiftly.

That's now past-tense because Jolie is looking to team with "Children of Men" director Alfonso Cuaron for another work of pure sci-fi, this one set in outer space, called "Gravity." The star's departure reportedly prompted Universal to cancel the "Wanted" sequel, the second swing of a one-two punch since the Warner Bros-owned "Gravity" was once in Uni's hands. Read more...

Nearly two years after would-be blockbuster “Earth vs. Moon” was snatched up following a bidding war between four studios, the writers of the red-hot script have become even hotter. But, now that they’re better known as the creators of “Zombieland” and have sequels in the works to that film, “G.I. Joe” and “X-Men” character Deadpool, where does that leave the sci-fi epic – and their hopes to someday film it with Will Smith?

“’Earth vs. Moon’ is in the background,” explained writer Rhett Reese, when we interviewed him along with partner Paul Wernick and asked for an update on the long-simmering project. “We’ve written a first draft. We’ll be writing a second draft at some point.” Read more...

Anyone who has ever made a trip to Sea World to see Shamu was undoubtedly shocked by news that one of the killer whales there attacked its trainer, resulting in her death. Some animal rights supporters think the whale shouldn't have be kept in captivity to begin with, and "Toxic Avenger" director Lloyd Kaufman appears to be one of them.

In much lighter news, Lee Unkrich got to share part of "Toy Story 3" with another big-time Hollywood guy. You can find out who that was, as well as which actor claims to have made out with Malin Akerman and what a couple of "Jersey Shore" stars look like in "Inglourious Basterds" uniforms after the jump. It all showed up in Twitter-Wood for February 25th, 2010. Read more...

By now I hope you've taken in the story of how I went from mild-manner entertainment journalist to Hollywood mover-and-shaker because of my role in "The Crazies." I'm kind of a big deal.

But we haven't yet shown you the entire exclusive clip from the film. The scene picks up about thirty minutes into the film, as a mysterious insanity-inducing, bloody murder-generating plague has descended on the population of Ogden Marsh, Iowa. Sheriff David Dutton (Timothy Olyphant) and his pregnant wife Judy (Radha Mitchell) are just trying to figure out what in the hell is going on when government soldiers in hazmat suits descend on the town and institute a military lockdown. Judy ends up being admitted into the quarantine as David fights like crazy to free her. He's unsuccessful and, well, hit play on the video to find out what happens next.

Directed Breck Eisner ("Sahara"), "The Crazies" opens this Friday, February 26.

ZoolanderEarlier today, Movies Blog brought you the really, really, really good news that a second "Zoolander" is currently in the development stage. Ben Stiller will co-write alongside "Iron Man 2" and "Tropic Thunder" scribe Justin Theroux, who also plans to direct. Assuming the news is true, it's a major victory for Derek Zoolander's devoted fan base. But in fairness, a lot of time has passed since "Zoolander." The celebrated male model was already feeling past his prime in the 2001 comedy, so there's no telling how the past decade has treated him since that existential crisis.

The only thing that's certain about "Zoolander 2" is that all bets are off — time has passed, people have changed, and the hilarity is sure to flow like a river of really funny things. While we wait to hear more, let's talk about some of the things we're hoping to see from the sequel. Read more...

Filmmaker Roland Emmerich is most recognizable as that guy who likes to blow up the world. "Armageddon," "The Day After Tomorrow," "Independence Day," last year's "2012"... dude's just got a thing for global catastrophes. He's branching out some for his next project however, looking to the past for inspiration from the Bard himself, William Shakespeare.

As we've known for a bit, Emmerich will next tackle "Anonymous," which explores the controversial theory that the famed playwright did not, in fact, write his own work. The belief is that the works credited to Shakespeare were actually written by Edward de Vere, of Oxford. IMDb currently has the movie slated for a 2010 release, but we've known little more than that until now. Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: In Kristen Stewart's new movie, "The Yellow Handkerchief," she plays Martine, a girl very different from Bella Swan.

"I mean, I think that Martine is definitely ... I think the stark contrast is that she's incredibly closed off and not really open to people," she told MTV News. "Because she's sort of, like, the type of girl who's put herself out there wanting to be, like, the type of girl who can smile and be in the middle of everything and has been shot down so many times that she's, like, gone cocoon-style."

It might not be Oscar bait, but last year's found footage thriller "Paranormal Activity" remains an unparalleled achievement. The low-budget indie which first screened for festival audiences in 2007 finally got a wide release in the fall of 2009. The wide opening came after Paramount's weeks-long campaign appealing for fans to "Demand It" by signing onto a website and clicking their home city. The end result: a record-breaking success story, which saw the film take in a 434,000 percent return on its initial investment of $15,000, making it the most profitable movie of all time.

As you might expect, there will be a sequel. Of course there will be. "Paranormal Activity 2" has been the subject of some discussion in recent months. Original director Oren Peli will not return. "Saw VI" director Kevin Greutert was at one point set to do it, but he was ultimately shuffled back to work on "Saw VII" instead. Now there are three other names in contention for the gig, including -- oddly -- none other than Brian De Palma. Read more...
