A new trailer for Disney's "Toy Story 3" arrived today. It's great! The "Ken meets Barbie" moment is amazing, the new characters look fun and we get a better idea of how the story will unfold. It's everything a good trailer should be. And you can watch it right here.
"Toy Story" is one of those rare cases where (for me) the sequel surpasses the original. Will the third installment top both of its predecessors? We'll find out on June 18!

Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" trilogy is a pillar of the science-fiction community, and director Roland Emmerich is planning to model his three-picture adaptation of the tome after the biggest movie in the history of cinema.
MTV News has exclusively learned from Emmerich himself that "Foundation" will be a 3-D epic using technology similar to the CG motion-capture techniques used in "Avatar."
"The 'Avatar' technology applies to 'Foundation,' " Emmerich said. "It has to be done all CG because I would not know how to shoot this thing in real." Read more...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: This week's announcement of Christopher Nolan’s involvement in the newly rebooted Warner Brothers “Superman” franchise has reinvigorated the interest in seeing another Man of Steel flick come to the big screen. With one massively successful DC reboot under the director’s belt, it’s clear that the studio hopes that Christopher Nolan still has the Midas touch.
While the terms of his tutelage still remain vague as to how it will affect the franchise moving forward, fans might be able to get an idea of what to expect based on Nolan’s previous cinematic works. Way back in 2008 during the junket for “The Dark Knight” MTV News had a chance to discuss Nolan’s philosophy on the genre of comic book movies and whether the film was a superhero movie or just a movie that happens to have superheroes.
“I think of it as a film that just exists in the cinematic realm," said Nolan, "I don't think of it as a comic book movie or just a comic book movie — and that's something that in the whole process — where from the screenwriting point of view or the production point of view and with all departments and everything we would never let people off the hook with the notion 'it's a comic book movie.'"

The exit of David Goyer as "FlashForward"'s showrunner disappointed many fans of the ABC science fiction series, myself included. But even more worrisome was the fact that there wasn't an immediate replacement mentioned, leaving the show's steering wheel completely unmanned.
Now, less than a week since the initial announcement, a replacement has finally been revealed. Three replacements, actually. According to Variety, the trio of Jessika Borsiczky, Lisa Zwerling and Tim Lea have been named as executive producers and showrunners of "FlashForward," assumedly putting the series back on track. FROM MTV.COM: Will "Dark Knight" god Christopher Nolan swoop in to carry the Man of Steel back toward big-screen glory? That's the rumor swirling around the Internet following a Deadline.com report that Warner Bros. had conscripted Nolan into a "godfather" role to mold "Superman" once again into an enduring film franchise.
The report is just the latest in a string of Metropolis-based gossip that has cropped up around this iconic superhero following the four Christopher Reeve-led "Superman" films starting in the late '70s. After the middling reception in 1987 of "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace," Warner dithered for years as it attempted to reinvigorate the franchise. Writers and directors who took a crack at the franchise included Kevin Smith, Robert Rodriguez, Tim Burton, Brett Ratner and McG. Among the names floated to play prominent roles were Will Smith, Nicolas Cage, Jack Nicholson, Shia LaBeouf, Scarlett Johansson and Johnny Depp.

"Taken" and "From Paris With Love" director Pierre Morel is shaking the Spice on "Dune," the upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert's classic science fiction novels. We've known that for a little while now, so nothing new there. What is new, however, is that a brand new screenwriter is coming on board to help Morel overhaul the initial Peter Berg script.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Chase Palmer has been hired to tackle the "Dune" script for Paramount's planned adaptation. According to the report, Palmer will integrate Morel's ideas into the story, which should result in a movie experience fairly close to the source material. Read more...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: The new, live-action "Spider-Man" movie will hit theaters July 3, 2012, filmed in 3-D and directed by "500 Days of Summer" filmmaker Marc Webb.
Sony made the release date official today, and added that the film will debut in 3-D when it premieres. Production on the project, which has yet to name an actor for the lead role, is expected to begin later this year. The studio announcement also indicated that the film's title hasn't been finalized yet — though we're pretty sure the name "Spider-Man" will be in there somewhere.
“Spider-Man is the ultimate summer movie-going experience, and we’re thrilled the filmmakers are presenting the next installment in 3D," said Jeff Blake, Chairman of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution, in the statement. "Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the world, and we know audiences are eager and excited to discover Marc’s fantastic vision for Peter Parker and the franchise.”

Craig Ferguson is one of the few late-night talk show hosts who hasn't been at the center of the media storm surrounding the Conan O'Brien/Jay Leno fracas. Good for him. He's actually been busy with much more important matters. Like joining Twitter.
Earlier this week, Ferguson officially joined the world's favorite micro-blogging social networking service. His account, now verified, has seen a flurry of tweets on a variety of topics. Many have even included pictures. Like the one selected for today's Daily TwitPic, in which Ferguson poses for a photo op with his pal and former "Full House" star Bob Saget. The two actually enjoyed more than lunch, in the talk show host's tweet is to be believed: "I had lunch with Bob Saget last week. Here's proof. He's dreamy. We had hot pockets. Then we had lunch." Creepy. Hit the jump for the pic. Read more...
