Vampire fans may have been disappointed to learn the Dracula origins movie "Vlad" will not have any ties to the historical figure's bloodsucking legacy. But there may be reason for general horror fans to now gain interest in the project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Scott Kosar, who previously worked on the remakes of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "The Amityville Horror," has been brought in to pen a new draft of the 15th century epic.
"Vlad" was originally written by "Sons of Anarchy" actor Charlie Hunnam, who reportedly delivered an action-oriented story. Bringing Kosar on for a rewrite may simply be for minor tweaks given that Hunnam is relatively new at this side of the game, but it's also possible Summit is aiming for something a little creepier than initially envisioned. While things are clearly getting back on track for the Marvel property, fans are still in the dark on the identity of the next Peter Parker. Earlier this month, "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" star Logan Lerman was said to be "in talks" to star as Spider-Man, but the actor has since clarified the news as a misunderstanding.
But even if he isn't the definitive frontrunner, should we discount Lerman from the casting pool? Definitely not – not until we've seen "Percy Jackson," at least.
