FROM SPLASH PAGE: Let the record show that "Spider-Man" is one franchise that you should never count out, even when the odds are stacked against it. After pulling the plug on "Spider-Man 4" and dropping director Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire, Sony Pictures quickly recruited a new director and set a new 3-D release date for the film.
While things are clearly getting back on track for the Marvel property, fans are still in the dark on the identity of the next Peter Parker. Earlier this month, "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" star Logan Lerman was said to be "in talks" to star as Spider-Man, but the actor has since clarified the news as a misunderstanding.
But even if he isn't the definitive frontrunner, should we discount Lerman from the casting pool? Definitely not – not until we've seen "Percy Jackson," at least.

Vampire fans may have been disappointed to learn the Dracula origins movie "Vlad" will not have any ties to the historical figure's bloodsucking legacy. But there may be reason for general horror fans to now gain interest in the project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Scott Kosar, who previously worked on the remakes of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "The Amityville Horror," has been brought in to pen a new draft of the 15th century epic.
"Vlad" was originally written by "Sons of Anarchy" actor Charlie Hunnam, who reportedly delivered an action-oriented story. Bringing Kosar on for a rewrite may simply be for minor tweaks given that Hunnam is relatively new at this side of the game, but it's also possible Summit is aiming for something a little creepier than initially envisioned. Kosar also wrote the upcoming remake of George Romero's pseudo zombie classic "The Crazies," as well as the psychological thriller "The Machinist." Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: Most of the biggest films between now and the summer have already given fans extensive trailers, from "The A-Team" to "Kick-Ass" to "Toy Story 3." Yet, the film that might become the biggest blockbuster of all — one that involves a clumsy girl, a pale vampire and an ab-tastic werewolf — remains suspiciously silent only four months before its release. But if you're one of the Twilighters asking when you can finally witness an "Eclipse," your answer has finally arrived.
According to a press release issued on Walmart's Web site, seven minutes of footage from "Eclipse" will be revealed on the upcoming "New Moon" DVD — as long as you purchase it at the retailer and make sure it's the slightly more-expensive "The Twilight Saga: New Moon Ultimate Fan Edition" DVD or Blu-ray. The movie hits stores March 20.

Last week, "New Moon" star Taylor Lautner celebrated his February 11 birthday. The "Twilight" werewolf turned 18, which means he's old enough to smoke and to die for his country. No drinking or gambling -- not legally, anyway -- but does it really matter? The kid can make an entire nation of young ladies swoon by simply removing his shirt.
In honor of Tay Tay's birthday, "Eclipse" actress Jodelle Ferland got a little creative. She captured the hunky actor's likeness in an impressively detailed pencil drawing, which is on display this morning as your Daily TwitPic. See for yourself after the jump. Read more...

Today is Presidents Day, a federal holiday that commemorates the birthday of our first president, George Washington. While you're enjoying your day off from work, take a moment to think about the 44 presidents this country has seen. Better yet, take a moment to sing about it, with Michelle Williams, star of Sundance fave "Blue Valentine."
Seriously... she sings all of them.

Title: "Duchess of Mandalore"
Writer/Director: Drew Z. Greenberg / Brian Kalin O'Connell
Tagline: "In war, truth is the first casualty."
Story: The three-episode Mandalorian arc closes with "Duchess," but we'll likely see more of the fan-favorite people before too long. Duchess Satine (Anna Graves) arrives safely on Coruscant with her entourage and Jedi escort Obi-Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor), only to face a danger of a different stripe: the Republic Senate. The current item on their docket is deciding whether or not a Republic occupation of neutral Mandalore is necessary in order to halt the expansion of the Death Watch. Chancellor Palpatine (Ian Abercrombie) might just get his way too, after a recording surfaces that indicates Satine may not be as in control of her people as she believes. Read more...

Universal Pictures' revival of "The Wolfman" was unleashed into theaters everywhere today, and while the Benicio Del Toro-starring film is geared towards horror fans and monster movie enthusiasts, it might appeal to another unexpected crowd… "Twilight" fans.
Now, I'm not suggesting that "The Wolfman" is a teenage romance, nor is it necessarily appropriate for the younger viewers that flocked to "New Moon" in droves. What I am saying, however, is that there are certain aspects about the new thriller that could tickle the fancy of Team Jacob members everywhere. Read more...

Twitter Pic of the Day had a hefty lineup of contestants today, given Arnold Schwarzenegger's photo op with the Olympic torch for Vancouver, Emma Roberts' "Valentine's Day" shot with Jessica Alba in London and Emmy Rossum just hanging out on a boat. In the end, I had to tip the Twitter-Wood hat to Jodelle Ferland, though, who I am 90-percent sure sketched a picture of her "Twilight" series co-star Taylor Lautner.
Another member of the "Twilight" family, Anna Kendrick, showed up in the feed today too. You can find out what she has to be sad about since getting nominated for an Oscar after the jump, as well as what Jaime King looks like pregnant and how Eli Roth feels about "The Last Exorcism" not playing at South By Southwest. It's all in Twitter-Wood for February 12, 2010. Read more...
