The final season of "Lost" kicks off next Tuesday, February 2. Finally, fans of the series that started back in 2004 will get the answers they're looking for. Some of the answers, that is. No one really believes that creators Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof are going to answer everything.
One of the biggest mysteries right now is how it's all going to wrap up. For years now, we've been watching the survivors of Oceanic Airlines flight 815 try to survive on and off the tropical island that is so central to the series. Cuse and Lindelof already know what the finale will look like, though they are quick to point out that the idea originates with them and not another source.
"I think it gets dangerous to spend too much time... looking at other shows, because I think the key to a successful show is that it's organic," Cuse said. "So for us, we're trying to come up with what's the logical conclusion for 'Lost' and that's really irrespective of other shows."
Just because the ideas start and end with the show's creators, it doesn't mean that they're unaware of what's come before. "Certainly there are cautionary tales in shows that end with 'Oh, it's all in a snowglobe!,' 'It cuts to black!'...."
Wait! Cuts to black? Whatever could Cuse be referring to?!? Hopefully, "Lost" won't end on that kind of fail.
"We are committed to the notion that we are going to give the audience a fair ending," Cuse said. "Not a sort of 'pull the rug out from under them' ending."
How do you want "Lost" to end?
