Bill Murray in 'Get Low'Last year in "The Road," Robert Duvall appeared briefly as a decrepit old man, near death and slogging forward through the burned-out landscape for no other reason than that he hadn't yet passed away. Duvall returns as an elderly fellow in the 2010 Sundance flick "Get Low," a haunted codger pushing forward, again, simply because he's not yet underground.

It is the role of a lifetime, and the 79-year-old should expect a big sloppy Oscar kiss come 2011. His Felix Bush has been hiding out in the backwoods for forty years, a self-imposed prison sentence for sins about which we can only guess. Townsfolk have countless stories about Bush — he killed a man, he's a minion of the Devil — but no one knows for sure until the man shows up with the idea to stage a funeral for himself while he's still alive. Bill Murray, as the local undertaker who'd be a slimy salesman if he weren't so existentially exhausted, is there to assist in the proceedings. Read more...

Twitter gained another surprise guest this week with William H. Macy testing the tweet waters. He and Emmy Rossum have been detailing their work on a Showtime series called "Shameless," which I hadn't heard about previously but will definitely be keeping tabs on now that I know both of them are involved.

And speaking of involvement, "Twilight" actress Tinsel Korey will be helping out MTV's "Hope for Haiti" telethon tonight, and she sounds pumped. Check out those retweets and more after the jump, including a bitter farewell to a cactus by Frankie Muniz, John Stamos' shout-out to Artie Lange and Dane Cook on UPS. It's all in Twitter-Wood for January 22, 2010. Read more...

For every film that hits theaters, we get at least one trailer, one poster, two clips and four stills. Let’s say two films hit theaters every weekend. That’s about 64 pieces of promotional material a month. Of course that’s only a rough estimate, but it’s clear we’re being bombarded by massive amounts of advertising. Have no fear, Promo Police is here.

In this inaugural article, “MacGruber,” “Kick-Ass,” the kids of “Frozen,” “Tron”’s yellow cycle and the partnership between Adidas and “Star Wars” are all under investigation. Are these suspects transgressors of poor promotion or are they model citizens? Check out the details on their rap sheets. Read more...

On TV, Don Draper is a slick, clean-cut advertising executive. The ladies love him (in real life too) and the men can only hope to emulate him. He's got flaws of course, but he keeps them well-contained. Jon Hamm, the actor who plays Draper, is at Sundance right now, to promote "Howl."

As you can see in the video below, Hamm is not so clean-cut in real life. Not right now at least. He ascribes it to how much time off he has. MTV's Josh Horowitz asks the tough questions though, probing to get to the bottom of why Hamm's beard seems to have triggered the end of all civilization as we know it. His answer might shock you. Or not.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: "Surrogates," director Jonathan Mostow's big-screen adaptation of Robert Venditti and Brett Weldele's comic book series, arrives on shelves next week. As regular readers know, we've been all over the film since it was first announced several years ago — mainly because we're all big fans of the book around Splash Page HQ.

That's why we're happy to present an exclusive preview of one of the bonus features on the "Surrogates" DVD and Blu-Ray. In "Breaking the Frame," Venditti describes the long, strange trip "Surrogates" has taken from the mailroom at Top Shelf Productions to a feature film starring Bruce Willis.

"Surrogates" arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray January 26. Read on for a full breakdown of the specs for each release.

One of my favorite "10 in '10" interviews this week is with "Clash of the Titans" director Louis Leterrier. I've enjoyed every bit of the movie that's been revealed so far, and can't wait until it hits theaters on March 26. I usually tend to be wary of remakes, but this one looks like pure blockbuster to me. Bring it on.

In his "10 in '10" interview, Leterrier enlightened on the status of "Clash," where the production is at in these final weeks before release, what his expectations are and how he feels now that the bulk of the work is done. What the interview doesn't get into is Leterrier's take on "Clash" as a possible franchise. He had some things to say on that count however, and I'm pleased to share those words with you here on MTV Movies Blog. Read more...

"Alice in Wonderland" hits theaters on March 5, just a little more than a month from now. The wait has rapidly grown from difficult to unbearable, a fact not helped by the 3-D trailer running in front of "Avatar" screenings. These new publicity stills aren't doing us any favors either. Look at the March Hare in the pic below. See how confused he is? It's because he can't understand why the movie isn't out yet. C'mon Disney... don't you want to push that release date up a few weeks? To, say, today? Click the image below to check out the rest of our ever-growing "Alice in Wonderland" gallery.

There is something to be said for Hollywood's practice of naming movies after popular songs, because I'm psyched about a new project titled "Sympathy for the Devil," solely on the basis of the fact that I'm a Rolling Stones fan. Never mind that it has nothing to do with the band, nor is it a first-person tale of Satan's influence on history, but I'm still at least partly sold on the name alone. And also partly because it involves Samuel L. Jackson dealing with motherf---ing demons in his motherf---ing city.

Latino Review received exclusive details about "Sympathy" directly from film company IM Global Octane ("Paranormal Activity"). Currently in pre-production, the movie will star Jackson and Josh Duhamel ("Transformers") as New Orleans lawyers caught in a battle between Heaven and Hell -- specifically warrior angels and demons. The full synopsis claims that the film, which mixes "'Angel Heart,' 'Pulp Fiction' and 'The Omen,'" is "sure to be controversial." Read more...
