Sundance is moving right along, as anyone who was watching MTV Movies Blog this past weekend knows very well. One of the flicks we're all very excited for here in the newsroom is "Buried," the Ryan Reynolds-driven -- it's a one-man show, and he's it -- story of a military contractor in Iraq who is kidnapped and buried alive with nothing more than a phone, a lighter and orders to raise $5 million for his captors.

The danger with Sundance movies of course is that they screen, get great reviews and then are never heard from again because no studio bothers to pick it up or, worse, picks it up and -- no pun intended -- buries it. Reynolds is a high-profile star of course, and no one really expected "Buried" to stay underground, but you never know with these things. The word coming out of Park City is that the $3 million budgeted movie was picked up by Lionsgate -- one of the first big acquisitions of the fest -- for $3.2 million. Read more...

Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart in 'The Runaways'Sex, drugs, rock n' roll and the girls from "Twilight"?!? Don't have too big a laugh though because Kristen Stewart and most especially Dakota Fanning rock the house with the best of them in "The Runaways," an electrifying if formulaic account of the brief rise and fall of the titular band.

Forget the executive producer credit for Joan Jett, the true telling credit for the film is where director Floria Sigismondi found her source material--lead singer Cherie Currie's memoir.

Indeed, "The Runaways" is owned and just about swallowed up by Fanning's riveting portrayal of the singer (not too dissimilar from the way Currie overwhelmed the group). First glimpsed as a teen literally transforming into a woman, this is the performance that seems sure to launch Fanning into a new thrilling phase of her career. From a sulking broodish David Bowie enthusiast to a howling rock goddess Fanning sells sells sells. I'd watch that band. Hells yeah. Read more...

Fans of "Arrested Development" have been waiting patiently for a movie version of the television series since the show's finale in 2006. If word on the street is to be believed, series creator Mitch Hurwitz is hard at work on the screenplay — it's just a matter of finishing the thing and getting the cast members on the same schedule.

There's at least one "Arrested Development" alumnus itching to get back into his manchild clothing and false limb — none other than Buster himself, actor Tony Hale. When MTV News spoke with the comedian at the Sundance Film Festival, Hale said that he and every other cast member from the series are eagerly awaiting the script.

"I actually talked to Mitch last week and he's writing it, and [the cast members] are all on board," said Hale. "We're all stoked to do it." Read more...

He plays a big-shot in "Entourage," and now Adrian Grenier has made a documentary called "Teenage Paparazzo" chronicling what it's like to be stalked by photographers and the cult of celebrity. When he came through our studio though for an interview about the project, though, we turned the cameras on him for our MTV Sundance Photo Booth. Check out the resulting self-portrait below, and then click here for more from our photo booth including James Franco, Ben Affleck, Malin Akerman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and many more.

DESC1. "Avatar" ($36 million)
2. "Legion" ($18.2 million)
3. "The Book of Eli" ($17 million)
4. "Tooth Fairy" ($14.5 million)
5. "The Lovely Bones" ($8.8 million)

James Cameron's "Avatar" easily won its sixth straight weekend at the box office, but the film's victory over its current theatrical competitors is hardly the greatest cause for celebration — that distinction belongs to the Na'vi people's victory over Gotham City's personal superhero, as "Avatar" has officially surpassed Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" as the second highest grossing film of all time at the domestic box office. Even in the hills of Hollywood and the streets of the Sundance Film Festival, there's no escaping the pop culture juggernaut known simply as "Jersey Shore." The cast had their way with Michael Cera and James Franco even expressed his own curiosity in the reality series, leaving us to wonder who else in the acting business might have a soft spot for Snooki and her pals.

While at Sundance this weekend, MTV News spoke with "The Company Men" stars Ben Affleck and Rosemarie DeWitt about "Jersey Shore," a series that both of them admitted to being fascinated by. Read more...

Dakota FanningToday the MTV Movies team enters its third full day of Sundance madness. Thus far in this snowy entertainment mecca, we've been pumping out a ton of coverage. Interviews with Kristen Stewart on "Welcome to the Rileys" and "Twilight"; James Franco on the legacy of "Spider-Man"; Ben Affleck on "Jersey Shore"; Amanda Peet on "Gulliver's Travels"; and many, many more, all of which you can see here. All that, plus reviews! And wacky Photobooth pics!

With the snow showing no sign of abating after about 48 hours of squalls (really, Park City, really?!), we're looking forward to another day of nonstop interviewing, screening, reviewing and (if we're lucky) scarfing down sandwiches in what little downtime we have.

Look out for interviews with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning ("The Runaways"), Adrien Brody ("High School"), Adrien Grenier ("Teenage Paparazzo"), Marisa Tomei ("Cyrus"), and more. We're also gonna check out screenings of Kristen Stewart's "The Runaways," Orlando Bloom's "Sympathy for Delicious" and Ryan Gosling's "Blue Valentine," to name just a few.

So! Keep checking back to MTV News for the very latest that Sundance 2010 has to offer.

Kristen Stewart in 'Welcome to the Rileys'Kristen Stewart is utterly fearless in "Welcome to the Rileys." That's the takeaway from the film's world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday afternoon. You can quibble all you want with her portrayal of a 16-year-old runaway turned stripper and prostitute. But you cannot walk away from a viewing and say the actress doesn't fearlessly expose herself physically and emotionally, and doesn't do so with astonishing maturity and believability.

Working the lap dance rooms and seedy motels of New Orleans, Stewart's character (real name Allison, working girl name Mallory and many others) is a damaged runaway with a filthy mouth and an even filthier idea of how to make money. There is little sexy about this teen, as she's prayed on by faceless men; the camera catches every pimple, every dark circle under her eye, every strand of stringy hair that has seen far too much strip club cigarette smoke and not enough shampoo (and no, she does not once get naked). Her life is going nowhere until a plumbing supply salesman named Doug Reily (James Gandolfini) shows up and takes Allison under his wing. Read more...
