It's hard to know what to say at a time like this. Brittany Murphy, age 32, was found dead in her home over the weekend, the victim of a heart attack. It's hard to process, this young star being taken from us by something that isn't supposed to be a danger for women until they've hit the age of 50. The best we can do for now is to honor her memory with a look back at her tragically abbreviated career.

The image below comes from "Clueless," the Amy Heckerling comedy from 1995 that first put Murphy into the public eye for many. It's a movie that in many ways launched her career, leading to memorable roles in the Eminem-starring "8 Mile," "Girl, Interrupted," "Spun," "Sin City" and "Happy Feet," plus a recurring role on the hit animated series from Mike Judge, "King of the Hill." Click the image for a look back at some of Murphy's more memorable moments in our Brittany Murphy: A Career Retrospective flipbook gallery.

We also want to hear from you readers, your remembrances, your tributes, your favorite moments from Murphy's too-short career. Share with us in the comments section below (remember that you can sign in using your Facebook ID), on Twitter or directly at tips@mtvmoviesblog.com.

Blizzards are powerful forces to be reckoned with, but so are the natives of Pandora. The two forces went head-to-head this weekend as "Avatar" debuted worldwide alongside one of the worst snowstorms to hit the American Northeast in a decade, but not even the formidable weather could take down director James Cameron's return to feature filmmaking.

In its first weekend in theaters, "Avatar" managed to earn $73 million nationwide, combining with foreign box office results for a $232.2 million total. Variety describes the result as "the best global launch ever for a non-sequel," despite being the second best December launch behind Will Smith's "I Am Legend." It's unclear how much the bad weather effected "Avatar's" final domestic tally, but the coming holiday weekends — both Christmas and New Year's Day conveniently fall on Fridays this year — should help bolster the movie's continued success. DESCEpisode Title: "Stop-Loss" & "The Attic"

Written By: Andrew Chambliss / Maurissa Tancharoen & Jed Whedon

Synopsis: Time sure flies when you're living in the Dollhouse — that's certainly the case for Anthony Ceccoli, the man formerly known as Victor (Enver Gjokaj), who is released from his five year contract with the Rossum Corporation. But the real world has plans other than peace for Tony, leading him into a dark army controlled by Rossum. Echo (Eliza Dushku), Boyd (Harry Lennix) and Topher (Fran Kranz) bring Sierra (Dichen Lachman) — real name Priya Tsetsang — into their secret, hoping that her romantic connection to Victor will help bring him back into the fold.

Dollhouse overseer Adelle Dewitt (Olivia Williams) isn't terribly pleased that her actives assaulted a Rossum facility, leading her to sentence Echo, Victor and Sierra to an indefinite stay in the Attic. While there, the Dolls reunite with Laurence Dominic (Reed Diamond) and learn a terrible truth about the real nature of the Attic. Meanwhile, Topher is forced to replace Paul Ballard's (Tahmoh Penikett) brain with an active's architecture, essentially turning him into a Doll so that he has a fighting chance at staying alive. Unknown to Paul — and the viewers — is that certain aspects of his brain and personality had to be sacrificed for the resurrection. Read More...

This was a rough week for memorial tweets, with Tisha Taylor Murphy and Roy Disney's passings both making headlines. More condolences showed up today for "Alien" screenwriter Dan O'Bannon and Bengals wide received Chris Henry, who both had their share of fans in our feed.

Following up on Jason Reitman's Olympic Torch tweets from the week, posted a much better photo today and got some moral support from Roger Ebert. You can check that out below, along with a shot of "New Moon" actor Alex Meraz's new t-shirt, two actresses who are not ashamed of their Wiis. It's all retweeted in the Twitter-Wood report for December 18, 2009. Read More...

As Neytiri, the Na'vi warrior woman that forges a bond with paraplegic marine Jake Sully in "Avatar," Zoe Saldana is the latest actress to transform herself into a powerful heroine at the hands of director James Cameron.

In fact, if there's one thing that Cameron excels at — other than groundbreaking visual effects, awe-inspiring stories and epically orchestrated action sequences, of course — it's his development of strong female characters.

While Neytiri is certainly one such character, she is merely the latest in a long line of brilliantly crafted women in Cameron's films. Here are some of the others. (click the image above the text to check out our James Cameron Heroines flipbook gallery!) Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: Last summer the proverbial something hit the fans when beloved "Twilight" star Rachelle Lefevre was shockingly dropped from the series, Golden Globe nominee Bryce Dallas Howard was announced as her replacement, and a real-life story line, as dramatic as anything in Stephenie Meyer's best-selling novels, erupted. But as the months have gone by, Lefevre has moved on to other gigs, Howard has received favorable reports from her new co-stars, and "New Moon" made a boatload of money.

On June 30, "Eclipse" brings the "Twilight Saga" back to the big screen with plenty of familiar faces, but a new one for Victoria. And when we caught up with 28-year-old beauty Howard, who stars in the new drama "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond," she told us that she couldn't wait to unveil her take on Meyer's villainous vamp.

Even for a movie as long as "Avatar" is -- roughly 160 minutes -- there's bound to be some stuff that gets left out. It's the nature of these things; you make a movie, then you trim out excess fat; elements that slow things down, feel out of place or simply don't work for one reason or another. Then of course you put out a Blu-ray/DVD and either incorporate all of that stuff back into the movie or parse it out into a separate section for viewers to enjoy.

Apparently, "Avatar" was quite the epic-length tale in one of its earlier cuts. Star Sam Worthington told MTV's Josh Horowitz as much in an interview at the movie's London press junket. "The first time i saw the movie, i think it was like four hours long or something, four and half hours," he said. "You'll have to ask [director James Cameron]." And that's exactly what we did, as you'll see in the video after the jump. Read More...

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Solving head-scratching mysteries is all in a day's work for Jolly Ol' England's most infamous crime-fighting duo. But one quandary that didn't require much sleuthing was the dress code at last evening's "Sherlock Holmes" premiere. Elementary, my dear Crushers, black and white were the order of the night at the film's New York City debut.

Well, not everyone opted for ebony or ivory. Sherlock himself, Robert Downey Jr., channeled a modern-day incarnation of the sleuth in a dapper brown tweed suit and pink tie, while his right-hand man Jude Law opted for an all-black ensemble accented with just a touch of burgundy by his pocket square. Costar Rachel McAdams also rocked the midnight shade in a Jasmini Di Milo bustier top and high-waisted trousers, which seemed a touch casual for the big event. We liked her gray asymmetrical Andrew GN gown from the film's London premiere much better.
