FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Fourteen years after the release of "Clueless," Brittany Murphy's first big screen appearance has proven to be her most memorable — and her most quotable. As Tai, the awkward new girl in a class of sophisticated, wealthy Beverly Hills teens, Brittany was lovably and adorably naive. The movie proved to be immensely quotable from the moment we first saw the trailer (embedded after the jump for your viewing pleasure and nostalgia). We watched the teen classic last night with a heavy heart, but Brittany's hilarious performance had us laughing along as per usual — a fitting tribute to such a talented actress. We laughed so hard, in fact, that we decided to round up our top five favorite Tai remarks.

We're still fresh off the opening weekend success of James Cameron's long-awaited "Avatar." Doesn't matter though. It is now time to start thinking about what's next for the world of Pandora, and for the Na'vi people.

Cameron isn't exactly ready to start the cameras rolling on a follow-up. He'll probably wait until awards season is over at the very least. Whenever he does get started on the continuing story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and his Na'vi mate Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), we at least know that he's got a broad strokes plan in mind for where life will take them next. FROM SPLASH PAGE: Next year's big-screen reboot of the "A-Team" will be one of many films receiving some attention from the comic book world in advance of its arrival in theaters. IDW Publishing will be launching not one, but two series following Hannibal, B.A. Baracus and the rest of their mercenary crew.

Titled "The A-Team: Shotgun Wedding" and "The A-Team: War Stories," the two series will not only feature the beloved television series' characters (in the likenesses of the new actors playing them), but also offer up some brand new stories of their adventures.

IDW has offered Splash Page readers the first peek at some early art from "The A-Team: Shotgun Wedding," written by Joe Carnahan and Tom Waltz with art from Stephen Mooney — including the ridiculously cool covers to the first and second issues, as well as several inked pages.

(Oh, and is that a Sarah Palin cameo we see?)

It appears that rumors of "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke coming aboard the "21 Jump Street" remake was premature, as filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are now the frontrunners to helm the action comedy.

Lord and Miller, the co-directors of this year's "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," are said to be in negotiations to helm "21 Jump Street," the Jonah Hill-penned remake of the late '80s/early '90s television cop drama. The Hollywood Reporter states that the directing duo are in high demand after the surprise success of "Meatballs," which just recently earned a Golden Globe nomination.

Further, "Meatballs" was a Sony Pictures production, which is the same studio responsible for the upcoming "Jump Street" revamp. It's likely that the company wants to keep Lord and Miller in the family, considering their successful work on "Meatballs." Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: The third Friday in August was dubbed "Avatar Day," when director James Cameron unleashed 16 minutes of 3-D-infused footage from his sci-fi opus in theaters across the globe for free. So what do you call December 18, the day that Cameron's alien love story actually opens in theaters?

It's D-Day for Cameron, that's for certain, as he'll finally get to see if the public will, in fact, fork over tens of millions of dollars to see the CGI film he's been planning since the mid-'90s. The critics certainly seem to be in favor of it. When we checked in on the reviews last week, "Avatar" had received near-unanimous praise. On Friday, we again scoured the critical responses to find out what everyone's saying.

As we were reminded recently when we caught up with Todd Phillips, director of “The Hangover,” everyone involved with the sequel to 2009’s most surprising hit is keeping their lips zipped. All he’d reveal to us is that there’ll be more Bartha.

But, as those who’ve already enjoyed the four-buddies-in-Vegas flick will remember, a key subplot involved scandal-plagued boxer Mike Tyson. And in one of the many other interviews Phillips has done promoting this week’s “Hangover” DVD release, the filmmaker stated (joked?) that he wants to use the sequel to give the same treatment to Tiger Woods.

Yep, that Tiger Woods. Read More...

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: We're still reeling from the tragic news of Brittany Murphy's untimely death this morning (keep updated with the unfolding story at MTV News). At only 32-years-old, Brittany managed to have a long and successful Hollywood career. Before popping in our well-worn copy of "Clueless" for a memorial viewing, we sent out a call via Twitter for the roles you liked Brittany in the most. It's hard to pinpoint her greatest performances without leaving out some of our favorites, but here, along with our own input, is Hollywood Crush's list of the best of Brittany Murphy:

1. "Clueless," 1995 (Tai)

In this seminal 1995 teen comedy, Brittany charmed as Tai, a delightfully naive New York teen transplanted into the ritzy world of Beverly Hills. A fish out of water at first — complete with Kool Aid-dyed hair, a penchant for Marvin the Martian drawings and ever-so-hip overalls ("She could be a farmer in those clothes," quipped a catty rival) — post-makeover, she became a plaid skirt-wearing, slang-spouting member of her high school's elite group (which included Alicia Silverstone and Stacey Dash). Repeat after us: "Rolling with the homies..."

FROM MTV.COM: The love, the hate, the hubris and drama! Sure, all those elements are within the story line of "Avatar," but they've also played into the behind-the-scenes hype surrounding the film over its 12-year development.

Now, the proof is finally in the pudding, and you can judge for yourself as you slip on those 3-D glasses and escape into the world of Pandora. But, for old times' sake, let's take one final look back at the unique timeline that has followed "Avatar" from script to screen. After all, where else are you going to find an up-and-down story involving Leonardo DiCaprio, Sharon Stone, FernGully, Adolf Hitler and our own Josh Horowitz?

"New Moon" is a few weeks out of the gate now, so it's probably safe to talk spoilers. Especially since many of you probably read the book before seeing the movie anyway. That said, spoiler alert. In the movie, Alex Meraz plays Paul, one of the Quileute teenagers making up the so-called Wolf Pack, the group of shape-shifting werewolves who help ease Jacob (Taylor Lautner) into his new existence when he himself begins to change shape. Paul has a little scrap with Jacob, both in canine form, when Bella (Kristen Stewart) gives the former a good, hard smack for turning the latter away from her.

What all of this means is that Meraz is a fan of the wolves. He'd better be, considering how the "New Moon" role raised his profile in the acting world. Today's Daily TwitPic illustrates just what a big fan he is of canis lupus. I certainly wouldn't want to rock that tee... Read More...
