Editor's note: This story ran yesterday, but it had to be pulled for a variety of reasons. It's back now. Fishburne's in the movie. It's gonna be cool.
What could possibly make producer Robert Rodriguez and director Nimrod Antal's "Predators" any cooler? For a start, they could send Morpheus after the four-jawed creatures... and thankfully, that's exactly what they're doing.
Almost exactly, at least, as Bloody Disgusting has learned that Laurence Fishburne is plugging out of "The Matrix" (or stepping out of the "CSI" crime lab, if you'd prefer) to join the fight against the "Predators," the third installment in the much beloved franchise, if you're not counting the significantly less beloved "Aliens vs. Predators" movies.
Fishburne will play a character named Noland, though no other details about the role are available yet. The actor will film his part at Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas, where the movie is currently shooting following the recent work done in Hawaii.
Honestly, the more I hear about "Predators," the more pumped I get. Sure, I wasn't through the roof about the casting of Adrien Brody and Topher Grace in the film's main roles, but I've since learned to put my faith in Rodriguez and Antal's vision. Part of that restored energy has to do with the rest of the movie's cast, which includes the smarmy Walton Goggins of "The Shield" and, of course, the peerless Danny Trejo.
Throwing Fishburne into the mix only ratchets up the already epic cast for "Predators." As I said earlier, very few casting decisions could have made me happier, save for reprisals from Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover. For now, I'm more than happy to settle for Fishburne's participation.
What do you think of Fishburne signing up for the "Predators" cast? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter!
