FROM MTV.COM: "New Moon" director Chris Weitz seems pretty pleased with the way he ended the second movie in the "Twilight Saga." But the fans who have already gotten a chance to see the movie are still reeling from Weitz's directorial decision. Not to give too much away, but some said it wasn't the conclusion they'd expected.
"I was really surprised by the ending, the way they kept us hanging like that," Jordana de la Cruz from Rhode Island told MTV News, after seeing a midnight screening in New York. "I hated it, but I liked it at the same time."

I sure do love waking up to video game adaptation news, especially when it's as exciting as the latest update. For anyone who owns a PlayStation 3, one of the few must-own titles is undoubtedly "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" (and now its sequel, "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves"). Great game, in the running-and-jumping-and-climbing-and-shooting vein of the "Tomb Raider" series, with amazing graphics and an overall presentation which feels pulled straight from a Hollywood blockbuster. The story is pure popcorn, with an "Indiana Jones" kind of vibe, a plucky female sidekick and a gang of villains pulled straight from central casting.
News broke over the summer that Sony would be guiding "Uncharted" to a big screen adaptation, with "Hitman 2" (another, as-yet-unreleased game adaptation) writer Kyle Ward delivering a script. Well Ward's now out, according to a report yesterday on Latino Review. Replacing him -- assuming negotiations go well -- are "Conan" reboot writers Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. As many of you know, Peter Facinelli oversees a coven of vampires as Carlisle Cullen in the "Twilight" series. I'll always know him best as the jerk jock from "Can't Hardly Wait," but he's an ageless blood-sucker now. And don't let that vegetarian thing fool you. He's biding his time, building an army of vampires he will one day use to take over the world.
Facinelli's latest initiate is Kat Dennings, who we revealed yesterday has just joined the cast of "Thor." It's too late to help her, as you'll learn in this morning's Daily TwitPic. Dennings has already turned; who knows whose blood she feasted on last night to sustain her unlife? It's terrifying to think that ground zero for the world-ending vampire menace is Hollywood, but this is the world we now live in. Feel the fear after the jump. Read more...

This morning's Daily TwitPic has absolutely nothing to do with "New Moon." I know that was the weekend highlight for many of you, but no one on the Twitter-Wood feed last Friday seemed will to share pics of their glittered-covered selves. Go figure.
Nonetheless, today's pic made me do a little bit of a double-take. These three guys may have history on television, but they couldn't have come from more different places. There's Larry King of course, armed and dangerous in this pic, and celebrating his birthday party. Then you've got Ryan Seacrest, "American Idol" host and "E! News" fixture. And finally there's Don Johnson. Some of you younger folk might not recognize him, and that's a shame. He was one half of the crime-fighting super-team on "Miami Vice." It's an odd lineup... hit the jump to see it. Read more...

3. "2012" ($26.5 million)
4. "Planet 51" ($12.6 million)
5. "A Christmas Carol" ($12.2 million)
The only thing a vampire craves more than blood is box office gold, as proven by the decisive success of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" in theaters this weekend. The second installment of the "Twilight" series exceeded expectations by opening to record-smashing numbers, easily paving the way for a first place finish of $140.7 million domestically, $118.1 million from international markets and a worldwide total of $258.8 million. Episode Title: "Legacy of Terror"
Writer: Eoghan Mahony
Tagline: "Sometimes, accepting help is harder than offering it."
The Story: The ongoing Geonosis campaign continues this week, the third episode in which the Grand Republic Army takes back the world where the Clone Wars kicked off. Fresh off the success of destroying a newly constructed Separatist droid factory, the Jedi and their troops press forward to bring Geonosian ruler Poggle the Lesser to justice. Master Luminara Unduli leads the charge, braving a sandstorm alone as she tracks the big bug to a network of catacombs populated by undead warriors working in service to the Geonosian queen. 1. "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" ($72.7 million)
2. "The Blind Side" ($10.9 million)
3. "2012" ($8.1 million)
4. "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire" ($3.6 million)
5. "Planet 51" ($3.2 million)
You don't have to be a mind-reading vampire with diamond-encrusted flesh to know who this weekend's box office champion will be. With "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" in over 4,000 theaters nationwide, there was virtually no chance that the continued romance of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan would fall anywhere short of first place — but perhaps no one could have predicted just how far ahead of the competition "New Moon" would end up. Oprah's announcement that her show may end its 25-season run in 2011 was almost enough to unseat "New Moon" as the top trending topic of the Twitter-Wood feed today. Kevin Nealon and Wil Wheaton both had a opinions on her possible bow out of syndication, while Eli Roth and Kevin Smith helped keep "Twilight" alive in Twitter conversation.
Two big names celebrated birthdays last night in very public fashion, as P. Diddy entertained a few folks on my follow list and Larry King got a little rowdy in my pick for Twitter Pic of the Day. Check that out after the jump along with Jeremy Piven's Calgary Flames trip and Danny DeVito's wholesome moment with Carrie Fisher. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter-Wood report for November 20, 2009. Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: In "New Moon," Bella is filled with confusion as Edward leaves her, Jacob Black makes his move and the nomad vampires continue to surround Forks. When it comes to Twilighters and the box office, however, there is no such indecision — and the results are already showing in record-setting numbers.
Summit Entertainment is reporting that the "Twilight" sequel opened on Thursday night to an unprecedented $26.3 million during its midnight screenings across the country. The film unspooled on 3,514 screens, playing at 12:01 a.m. for die-hard fans — many of whom arrived at the theaters dressed as their favorite characters.
That total handily beats the midnight-screening record of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." This seems to vindicate "Twilight" star Jackson Rathbone, who famously responded to our question of whether Stephenie Meyer's franchise could take on J.K. Rowling's juggernaut, "I don't know; they've got brooms."

Today's the day! James Franco made his soap debut on "General Hospital" as Franco.
Franco appears to be, on the one hand, an elusive but promising photographer who will show his work at a Crimson magazine gallery event. On the other hand, he makes his first appearance on the show dressed like a homeless person, lurking in the shadows as mobster Sonny Corinthos and his right-hand man Jason Morgan walk into a mob trap that turns violent on Front Street in Port Charles.
Franco witnesses the entire shootout, which leaves Sonny victorious and his rivals down for the count. As Sonny and Jason drive away from the scene of the crime, Franco, with a hoodie hiding his face, waves at the limo, taunting Jason. Read more...
