It's been months now since the untimely passing of Michael Jackson. Yet somehow, he remains very much a part of the public consciousness. Part of that is the documentary, "Michael Jackson's This Is It," which collects the pop legend's final rehearsal footage. Not only did the release trigger the flood of Jackson memorializing anew, the doc itself notably doesn't ever explicitly say that he's left us.

What's interesting about all of the personal remembrances to have surface is the picture that they paint. Jackson was famously reclusive in his later years, trailed by controversy and somehow standing apart from the cult of celebrity, even as he sat at its pinnacle. Only through the recent doc and the memories of his family and friends are we now getting a picture of the man behind all of that mystery. Brett Ratner is one of those people Jackson was close with, and he's been sharing generously on Twitter for some time. The latest, today's Daily TwitPic shows us the "Rush Hour" director with Michael, Chris Tucker and Jackson friend Al Malnik in Acapulco for Ratner's birthday. Read More...

By now I hope you're two-thirds of the way through AMC's new six-part miniseries, "The Prisoner," which launched on Sunday night and plowed through its third and fourth episodes on Monday. The series is about as good as sci-fi TV gets. Gone is the low-budget cheese of so many past cable series, and in its place are strong performances from talented actors, a twisty plot revealed slowly and expertly and a gorgeous overall look that is more Hollywood hit than small screen crud.

The first of last night's eps, "Anvil," delivers on all these fronts and contains one of the most intense scenes in the entire series (big spoilers ahead!). For the uninitiated — or those not familiar with the original British series on which this "Prisoner" is based — James Caviezel plays a man called Six, who finds himself stranded in the mysterious Village with no memory of how he got there. Attempting to make sure Six doesn't learn the truth about his environment is Two (Ian McKellen), who has a silently brooding son named 11-12, played by Jamie Campbell Bower ("New Moon"). Edward Woodward, the actor best remembered for his starring role in the TV series "The Equalizer" and his once-in-a-lifetime performance in the original pre-bees "Wicker Man," commanded a mountain of memorial tweets today. Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright and even Seth Meyers posted memories and favorite performances amid the news of his passing, and I join them. If you haven't seen him in 1973's "The Wicker Man," you're missing out on one of the all-time great horror/musical productions.

There were "New Moon" tweets today, too, of course. Peter Facinelli spent his pre-premiere morning getting his driver's license renewed, while Tinsel Korey posted a pic from outside and BooBoo Stewart prepped at the gym. Check out their tweets after the jump along with a Twitter Pic of the Day starring Michael Jackson and an "Iron Man 2" note from Jon Favreau. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter-Wood report for November 16, 2009. Read More...

It's hard to say exactly when "Chuck Norris Facts" popped up on the Internet and almost instantly became an online phenomenon. Offering up all sorts of claims regarding the mythical attributes of martial arts champion and movie/TV star Chuck Norris, the Chuck Norris Facts have circulated around the globe and become one of the most popular memes of the last few years.

And now Chuck Norris himself is getting in on the fun.

This month, Tyndale House Publishers will release "The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book" -- a collection of 101 of Norris' favorite online "facts" paired with a corresponding story from his life, written by Norris. The action movie star recently dropped by MTV HQ to discuss the book and confirm or deny some of our favorite Chuck Norris Facts. Read More...

On December 18, James Cameron unleashes "Avatar" on the world. The 3-D sci-fi epic has been an in-the-making project for more than a decade, with Cameron's first script treatment written in 1994. He's been out of the director's chair -- for features anyway -- since "Titanic," released in 1997, so the release of "Avatar" is a fairly enormous happening within the culture of mass media entertainment.

Today, Atlantic Records issued the first details about the score. There are 13 tracks from composer James Horner comprising the pure score. The final track, titled "I See You (Theme From 'Avatar')," features vocals from Grammy-nominated singer Leona Lewis. The score drops on December 15, three days shy of the movie. Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: Let's say you weren't one of the millions of people who showed up to see the end-of-times demolition-fest "2012" over the weekend, contributing to its $225 million global box-office haul. First of all, what's wrong with you? That flick is kind of amazing! Second, you should stop reading now because everything that follows explodes with SPOILERS.

"2012" ends with John Cusack, his family and a couple hundred thousand other survivors on a series of high-tech floating arks they've boarded to avoid the earthquakes and tsunamis that consume the planet. As the weather settles down and the clouds begin to clear, the arks set sail for the only remaining land mass still above water, the Cape of Good Hope in Africa. What will happen when they arrive?

"Resident Evil: Afterlife" is confirmed as the next chapter in the zombie series, a rare success case in the world of video game-to-film adaptations. It may not be a monumentally successful franchise along the lines of "Twilight" or "Harry Potter," but "Resident Evil" movies have a habit of performing well with audiences whenever they're released.

What we know so far: the shoot is already underway, with a planned 3-D release for the movie late next year. Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter will reprise their roles as Alice and Claire Redfield, respectively. Also confirmed are Shawn Roberts as the villainous Wesker and "Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller as Claire's brother Chris. Read More...
