You might've noticed a dip in the number of posts on MTV Movies Blog this week. That's because your friendly neighborhood editor (me) has been staying up too late for almost two straight weeks. "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" arrived in stores on 11/10/09 and the obsession has set in once more. I've had control over my "Call of Duty" demons for about a year now, but this new game in the series opened the floodgates anew. There's simply not enough time in the day for work and play, plus other necessary daily activities. My poor dog hasn't been walked in a fortnight (not really).

I say all of that to illustrate just how exciting the news of a "Call of Duty" movie is to someone like me. The series is known -- its single-player campaign, at least -- for epic-scale set pieces. In the previous game, an entire level was built around a deposed Middle Eastern leader's final minutes as he is driven through war-torn streets to his execution, seen entirely from a first-person perspective. So what's all this about a "Call of Duty" movie? The New York Post's PopWrap has the story. Read More...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Director John Woo has proven his eye for action with films like "Face/Off" and "The Killer," so when he dropped by Splash Page HQ to discuss his upcoming film "Red Cliff," we had to ask why he hasn't stepped behind the camera for an action-packed superhero movie yet. After clearing up his attachment to "Caliber," the Radical Comics series we spoke to creator Sam Sarkar about earlier this year, Woo offered up some thoughts on why superheroes aren't really his thing.

"It didn't work out because it's not good timing for me to take on the movie," said Woo, confirming he's no longer attached to an adaptation of the Arthurian saga set in the Wild West.

I don't know if you readers are familiar with SEO (search engine optimization), but that headline is a dream come true. You've got two of the biggest movie franchise phenomenons currently around combining with the longest-running American sitcom/animated series/primetime series (all three categories). As a "Simpsons" fan since day one of the series, it's also a great synergy of interests -- professional and non-professional -- on a personal level.

Okay, here's the news: EW's Hollywood Insider is exclusively reporting that "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe will lend his voice to "The Simpsons" next season. Not just any episode either: he'll appear in one part of next year's "Treehouse of Horror XXI" triptych, the series' yearly Halloween special. And the part of the episode he appears in will in fact be a "Twilight" parody. Hell, there are even a few plot details. Cue brain exploding... now. Read More...

Doogie! Sorry, I won't do that again. It's hard though, to be someone who grew up in the '80s and '90s, not to think of Neil Patrick Harris as Doogie Howser, MD, the boy genius doctor. Such a simpler time. Harris has become so much more than that in recent years, and my hat's off to him for shedding his child actor image. I still can't erase those first memories of his time on TV.

In today's Daily TwitPic we see Harris hanging with the lovely Felicia Day, a gifted performer who is associated with one of his more recent successes. The two starred together in "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," a three-act comedic web series conceived by Joss Whedon and his brothers Zack and Jed. Enjoy the cute picture of would-be supervillain Dr. Horrible and his doomed love Penny, reunited. Read More...

'Star Trek'While the rest of the planet is looking forward to "New Moon," here in the world of home entertainment it's all about looking back...specifically to two of the summer's biggest films which are now hitting store shelves. From space cadets to a fashion-savy Austrian, this is your DVD Report for Tuesday, November 17.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a group more anxious than "Star Trek" fans on the date director J.J. Abrams was tapped to reboot the franchise. It was a tall order. "Trek" had notably faltered at the box office after the dreadful "Nemesis," and had been unceremoniously dumped from the airwaves after the lackluster "Enterprise." And now here was a guy who openly boasted that he had barely watched "Star Trek." Even his directing credentials were thin -- a few television episodes here and there and one feature film in "Mission: Impossible III." It all made for a very skeptical fanbase for a franchise many thought should lay dorment to catch its breath. Read More...

Last night got busy in Twitter-Wood on a few fronts. Former "Remote Control" host Ken Ober's passing surprised a number of tweeters, including Brian Posehn and Jeff Katz, who both noted his loss.

L.A.'s Westwood village theatre, meanwhile, was epicenter for all of the "Twilight" Twitterverse during the "New Moon" premiere. BooBoo Stewart posted a pic from the red carpet, Rachelle Lefevre posted her reasons for missing the event, Brett Ratner was in attendance and Kevin Smith made a date out of the night with his daughter. You can check out what they had to say after the jump along with Twitter Pic pick that I selected more for its significance than its shock value, as Neil Patrick Harris officially moved into the Twitter-Wood neighborhood. It's all in the report for November 17, 2009. Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: Tim Burton definitely has his own aesthetic: part goth, part whimsy, part just plain Burton. Throughout his career, he has established himself as the go-to guy for the strangely charming and bizarre.

Now, the man behind such classics as "Pee-wee's Big Adventure," "Beetlejuice," "Edward Scissorhands" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" is being honored with a retrospective exhibit of the artwork connected to some of his most beloved films at the Museum of Modern Art in New York this winter. The visionary said he still doesn't believe that the work in the exhibit belongs to him.

If you read this blog regularly, you've probably heard me rave about "Daybreakers." It's a potent equation. Take Ethan Hawke, Sam Neill and Willem Dafoe, throw in a crossbow strapped to a shotgun, human blood farms and a society ruled by vampires. Wrap it all up with a story involving a renegade group of the blood-suckers working to "cure" themselves and the dwindling human population fighting back. I can't shout "sold" loudly enough.

What we have here is an exclusive TV spot for "Daybreakers," which hits theaters on January 8, 2010. I dig the vibe here, a PSA informing all vampires to turn in humans they find for the continued survival of all. Check it out.

Despite the record-breaking advance ticket sales for "New Moon," I think there may be one or two of you interested in seeing something other than the "Twilight" sequel this weekend. And if neither the sports drama "The Blind Side" nor the animated "Planet 51" is your cup of tea, either, there's also the indie hit "Precious: Based on the Novel PUSH by Sapphire," which expands wider this Friday. Or, if you live in a major city, there are a number of new films opening in limited release that also look appealing. As always with unLimited's picks, if you wan to see one of the following titles and it isn't scheduled for your neck of the woods, contact your local theater and request it be booked there.

"Red Cliff"

What it is: Epic war film set in Ancient China, directed by legendary action auteur John Woo ("Face/Off") and starring Tony Leung ("Lust, Caution"). Read More...
