"Michael Jackson's This Is It" hits theaters for most of the world tomorrow, but a lucky few will get to attend the premiere or one of the other limited release screenings as early as tonight. One of those few will likely be singer Alicia Keys, who was more than happy to discuss her excitement for the doc when she stopped by the MTV Newsroom last week.

"I have to say that I am absolutely a fan of Michael Jackson. He will always be an icon to the world. And I feel like I have always celebrated his genius and his beautiful heart," she said. "And I'm excited to see ['This Is It'], because I love to see his songs and I love to see him shining." Check out the video below to hear more from the songstress on Jackson. Also, be sure to tune in to MTV tonight at 8:30pm EST for our special coverage of the "This Is It" red carpet.

Short CircuitThe Hollywood reboot machine continues its full-fledged steamrolling over my fondest childhood memories, this time in the form of a "Short Circuit" remake.

Variety reports that the film — already announced with "Greg the Bunny" creator Dan Milano working on the screenplay — will be directed by Steve Carr, who recently helmed the Kevin James-starring "Paul Blart: Mall Cop."

The original "Short Circuit" starred the always delightful Steve Guttenberg and the frequently terrifying Fisher Stevens as Newton Crosby and Ben Jabituya, a pair of scientists that create an intelligent (and adorable) robot named Johnny Five. Read More...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Before "The Dark Knight," many fans wondered how Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker in Tim Burton's "Batman" could ever be topped, least of all by the seemingly unnatural choice of Heath Ledger. But if you believe one certain rumor, Nicholson almost lost the part to another actor—none other than Willem Dafoe.

Dafoe's IMDB page harbors a curious bit of "trivia," which states that the actor was considered for the Clown Prince of Crime in the Burton-directed "Batman." MTV News went straight to Dafoe for official word on the rumor, and while the actor said he was never considered for the Joker role, he did have an early attachment to the 1989 film.

"Very early, they talked to me about playing Batman," Dafoe told MTV News.

Tomorrow night, "Michael Jackson's This Is It" opens wide, allowing one and all a glimpse at the pop legend's final days as he prepared for a 50-show residency at London's O2 Arena. Tonight the movie opens in select markets, with a red carpet premiere in Los Angeles at the center of everything. We'll be there to cover the event, wrapping it up inside of an MTV special featuring exclusive interviews with people close to the documentary and the canceled residency.

It's no secret that anticipation is running high for this movie. When Michael Jackson left us suddenly on June 25 of this year, the trades immediately started rumbling with rumors of a documentary highlighting the hundred of hours of tape from his final rehearsals. It wasn't long before the news broke that Sony won the rights to the content, and that they were fast-tracking a documentary to be directed by "High School Musical" helmer Kenny Ortega. Read More...

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Finding out legit details about the sequel to "Sex and the City: The Movie" is a feat about as rare as a Manolo Blahnik sale. Sure, we know Miley Cyrus definitely has a cameo (ton of pictures of her were snapped near the set last week), that Samantha will have an encounter with a European architect (played by Max Ryan) and that Charlotte will not have another pooping disaster. But... what about the small-yet-important accessories (if you will) that go along with the film? Such as running time and wardrobe changes?

Enter Kristin Davis (a.k.a. Charlotte, pictured far right), who stopped by MTV News recently to talk about "Couples Retreat," her motherly love for Taylor Lautner and, of course, "Sex"! Reporter Josh Horowitz (as always!) begged the actress for as much juice as he could squeeze out of her, and while she remained as mum as Charlotte does about her sex life, there were a few key nuggets she let slip.

And he has a dynamite week of content planned for y'all, so sit back and enjoy!

TRYING TO ENJOY THE RIDE

ZEN AT 20,000 FEET. The view from seat 10A on my flight to Paris on October 10th. I kept looking for a gremlin crawling across that wing – but it never appeared

I have a philosophy that I’d like to share with you all . . . It is a relatively simple piece of advice that was passed on by a friend’s mother.

It comes down to three simple words. Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: In 2006, J.J. Abrams was largely known as a TV guy, one of the creative minds behind fare like "Lost" and "Alias." Then came a turn in the directing chair for "Mission: Impossible III," when he popped off explosions galore around Tom Cruise, and Abrams' career was never the same. Rebooted "Star Trek," anyone?

Now, a fourth "Mission" is in the works. Will Abrams step back into the role that brought him from small-screen whiz kid to big-screen guru? That seems unlikely, as Abrams made clear in an interview with MTV News.

'Stargate' (1994)Fifteen years ago I was planning my nights around episodes of "Mystery Science Theater," programming math cheats into my graphing calculator and filming "60 Minutes"-style interviews with Cobra Commander. I was also madly in love with director Roland Emmerich's "Stargate," the German filmmaker's bold sci-fi experiment in 1994 that foreshadowed his big-budget juggernaut "Independence Day" only two years later. "Stargate" is now bowing on Blu-ray as a "15th Anniversary Edition," and it's one of a handful of notable releases during an otherwise forgettable DVD week.

"Stargate" finds Kurt Russell as a suicidal, no-nonsense military officer tasked to lead a group of battle-hardened veterans -- and soft-skinned ninny scientist James Spader -- through a newly discovered wormhole to an unknown destination. The other side winds up being a sandy desert planet whose native inhabitants have kept their human slaves in bondage under the guise of ancient Egypt. It was a wholly original concept, driven forward by personality-heavy stars, amazing location photography and Emmerich's strong sense for the fantastical. The film would eventually launch a number of successful television spin-offs, although sadly no follow-up film (although one was originally planned). Read More...

Back in September, word emerged that Edward Norton, star of "The Incredible Hulk," would be participating in this year's New York City Marathon (sponsored by ING) on November 1. What's more, he'd be joined on the run by a trio of Maasai warriors in support of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. The plan is for these four to lead a group of 30 runners through the 26.2 mile foot race.

As you might imagine, this sort of undertaking requires a considerable amount of training. Lots of people, your Movies Blog editor for one, are huffing and puffing after less than one mile. Imagine the effort required to sustain oneself through 26 miles. Today's Daily TwitPic shows us Norton and his Maasai companions prepping for that effort with some meditative yoga exercises. Stay Zen, y'all. Read More...

"Eclipse" actress Jodelle Ferland claims that hackers descended on her website, which would explain the disarray currently on display if you visit Jodelle-Ferland.net. Her "Twilight" series costar Ashley Greene seemed to be having a much better weekend, however, taking in the U2 concert at the Rose Bowl Sunday night. Greene was joined by Danny DeVito, Demi Moore, and a host of others who tweeted pictures from the night.

Elsewhere, Tom Felton and Emmy Rossum are still undecided on their Halloween costumes, but Felton has officially nixed a Dalmation outfit and Rossum may be warming up to Pippi Longstocking. Check out what they had to say after the jump along with Edward Norton doing yoga, Billy Burke's "Harry Potter" shout-out and Stephen Fry's new secret video game role. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for October 26, 2009. Read More...
