Last week, I asked you "Paranormal Activity" fans to send in some questions that I could put to director Oren Peli during our interview. You obliged, I asked him the questions and I've got the answers now. First, some statistics.

"Paranormal Activity" has performed staggeringly well as its opened wider and wider. With more than $65 million now in the bank on a movie that cost less than $15,000 to make, it is officially the most profitable movie of all time. That's a 434,000 percent return on Peli's initial investment, a number that will likely grow exponentially as we enter the Halloween weekend. You can read more about this record-breaking performance in Eric Ditzian's report on MTV.com. For now though, hit the jump and see your questions answered! Read More...

Oh "Avatar." Finally, you look awesome. Those who weren't so impressed by the last trailer should avoid writing the movie off just yet. The teaser clip below delivers a taste of what's to come when the three and a half minute trailer makes its television premiere on November 1. Check it out.

The full trailer is actually already online at Yahoo!. The November 1 premiere is notable because it's being billed as "the largest live motion picture trailer viewing in history." Apparently because it's going to screen shortly before kickoff at the Cowboys-Seahawks game, where the world's largest video display can be found. If you can't make the game, don't worry. You'll also be able to catch the trailer during the pre-game airing of Fox NFL Sunday.

Ah hell... you want to see the FULL trailer? All three minutes and thirty seconds of it? I'll be you do. Hit the jump. It's right there. Read More...

I'm a Mets fan, so these days I prefer to consume my baseball in fictional terms rather than deal with the reality that my boys are a bunch of overpaid, oft-injured embarrassments to the triumphant – if drug scandal-tinged – legacy of Strawberry, Hernandez and Gooden.

Confronted with the choice to root for the Yankees or the Phillies in this year's World Series – or even the option to watch the action – I plan to opt for nearly anything else. My girlfriend wants to take in the last couple episodes of "The Rachel Zoe Project" on TiVo? Sign me up! My elderly neighbor needs me to wash her hosiery? I'm there! And if I get the chance, I'm going to pop in a DVD and take in some of the great fictional baseball teams in movie history to forget about this season. Here are my picks: Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: "Paranormal Activity" wouldn't have been shown in mainstream theaters if not for movie fans demanding it. But we can also thank one particular movie lover for getting it distributed: Steven Spielberg. A widely circulated part of the film's backstory involves Spielberg viewing — and being terrified by — the low-budget horror flick.

And "Paranormal Activity" writer/director Oren Peli couldn't be happier about his idol's reaction.

Richard Kelly is the man. Not just because he'll be here all this week, posting as a guest editor for MTV Movies Blog. It helps, sure, but we're talking about the guy who made "Donnie Darko" here. And "Southland Tales." Isn't that enough? Not for Kelly it isn't. His latest brain-twisting tale, "The Box," hits theaters on November 6. And he has a dynamite week of content planned for y'all, so sit back and enjoy!

SKYWALKING TO SAN FRANCISCO

On Tuesday, I headed north . . . the good people of Skywalker Sound and Industrial Light & Magic hosted a screening of "The Box" an invited me to stay at the legendary Lucas ranch for the night and tour the facilities. Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: Predictions were that "Michael Jackson's This Is It" could be the highest-grossing music film of all time, and the documentary chronicling the final concert rehearsals of the King of Pop got off to a good start. A series of late-night screenings pulled in $2.2 million in the U.S. on Tuesday, setting the film up for a possible #1 ranking at the box office this Halloween weekend, according to The Associated Press.

The fright-filled weekend could set up a showdown between the zombie-loving late pop star and the surprise success of low-budget horror flick "Paranormal Activity," which pulled in just $1.7 million on Tuesday after topping the box office last weekend. While "Activity" will expand to its widest release yet over the weekend when it unfolds on 2,400 screens, "This Is It" will be playing on more than 3,500 screens.

Not just today, but soon. Very soon. 11am PST/2pm EST soon.

Here's the deal: the big Halloween-themed horror flick hitting theaters this weekend is "The House of the Devil," written and directed by Ti West. Now I haven't seen this puppy yet, but I've been hearing some awfully good things about it.

As a treat to the fans and curious parties alike, West will make himself available today on Twitter for one hour, starting at the above-mentioned time. Just tweet your questions and comments with the tag #DEVILHOUSE, and follow @MagnolaPics to catch the answers as they roll out. I love how Twitter allows for this kind of personal interaction with the creatives behind a movie, which is why I'm giving it a shout here on Movies Blog today. Also, the movie looks hella cool. My colleagues out there who have seen it certainly seem to agree. Read More...

It's the eternal dorm-room debate, the stuff of boozy smack-talking sessions and stony, less-than-coherent arguments: what's the scariest movie of all-time? It's a (sober) discussion we've been having at MTV News as Halloween sneaks up on us and a question we've been throwing out to folks in the film biz who truly know their fright-fest stuff.

When I had a chance to talk with Sam Raimi – he of the many righteous "Evil Dead" pictures – I had to get his thoughts on the matter. The first thing he told me was that the horror genre scares the crap out of him. "It's hard to sit through them," he confessed. "I really enjoy it when I'm in the middle of it, it's just hard to approach the theater." The second thing he said is that he loves them dearly. The third and fourth and fifth and sixth? Those scary movies he cherishes the most – and one he can't wait to see. Read More...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Our five-part Halloween Week retrospective on "The Crow" continues, celebrating the film's 15th anniversary with cast and filmmaker interviews that explore its origin and legacy. Check back each day this week for another installment of our "15 Years Of Devil's Night" series.

PART THREE: THE SKULL COWBOY SPEAKS! THE CROW'S LOST CHARACTER.
By Ryan J. Downey

The Skull Cowboy appears in James O'Barr's comics and nearly made it into "The Crow." An other-worldly guide for Brandon Lee's resurrected avenger Eric Draven, the mysterious figure would have provided a great deal of the film's exposition, setting up the "rules" of the afterlife and Draven's mission.

The character, portrayed under heavy prosthetics by actor Michael Berryman ("The Devil's Rejects," "Weird Science," "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"), can be glimpsed in a deleted footage montage on the collector's edition DVD of "The Crow" and longer scenes, including one with dialogue, have made their way online. The Skull Cowboy would have first appeared as Draven emerges from the grave.

The absence of Berryman's character from the final cut of the film subsequently caused a bit more footage to be left out, most notably, an extended fight sequence with Funboy (Michael Masse).
