FROM SPLASH PAGE: Comic books based on Stephen King's novels have almost become a genre of their own lately, with adaptations and spin-offs of both "The Stand" and his "Dark Tower" series finding new life in the world of graphic novels.

This November, King's 1984 novel "The Talisman" (co-written with Peter Straub) goes the same route with a new graphic novel adaptation published by Del Rey Comics.

The story follows a teenager tasked with retrieving a magical talisman in order to save his dying mother. He must cross back and forth between our world and its alternate—and more dangerous—"twinner" counterpart.

Tomorrow afternoon, MTV is going to lock me in a room with "Paranormal Activity" director Oren Peli for an interview. I'll be honest with you readers-- I'm terrified. "Paranormal" scared the crap out of me, and the thought of being stuck in a room with the guy who created it... well, really. Who knows what kind and how many spirits he angered in the making of the movie?!

In all seriousness, we love giving you readers the opportunity to have a say in what comes out of our interviews. And given the craze surrounding "Paranormal Activity" -- well-deserved craze, I might add -- I'm sure that at least a few of you have some questions for the newcomer director. I recently had the opportunity to speak to Peli on the phone, so feel free to use his words as a guide to more questions here and here. Send your Qs over to us at tips@mtvmoviesblog.com and stay tuned to MTV Movies Blog to hear what Peli had to say!

FROM MTV.COM: If "New Moon" is the low point of Jasper Hale's presence in the "Twilight" saga, then "Eclipse" is the high. When MTV News caught up with Jackson Rathbone last week on the set of his indie flick "Girlfriend," he still had two weeks of "Eclipse" filming left. Much of his shooting had been completed, and he shared some of the big scenes he had already finished.

"I got to go back into my old roots, got to ride some horses again, which was nice. Got to put these riding boots to use, which is good," Rathbone said, motioning to his boots. "I actually can ride a horse."

I may be the negative Nelly of this blog, but I always worry when a breakout indie filmmaker is tapped to follow up his/her critically acclaimed Sundance sensation with a proportionately epic Hollywood production. So I've been somewhat concerned with the rumors that Lee Daniels, hot right now for his multi-film festival-winner (and Oscar hopeful) "Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire," may helm a long-awaited film version of the hit Broadway musical "Miss Saigon."

Daniels has been linked to the adaptation for awhile, but now Variety is officially reporting that he's the top choice to direct the Vietnam War-set musical. Apparently this is just one of multiple projects he's considering, however. Read More...

Maybe we've seen half of it, but this latest "New Moon" clip, which hit iTunes yesterday as a free download, is pretty cool. I'm not blown away by the CG wolves, but the intensity of the showdown leaves me curious to see how it all turns out. I think Bella's (Kristen Stewart) going to be okay. Just a hunch.

There's more clippy goodness coming your way this week too. Tomorrow night on Access Hollywood, "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner will be on hand to introduce an all new clip from "New Moon." In this one we'll see Edward (Robert Pattinson) defending Bella from the vampires of the Volturi clan in Italy. Read More...

James Cameron is a journalist's dream. The director actually says what's on his mind—and says it with foul-mouthed panache—rather than delivering the juiceless soundbites we're used to hearing from most folks in the entertainment biz. But the "Avatar" director can afford to be open, I suppose. He's free to speak his mind, seeing as how he's behind the biggest selling movie of all time ("Titanic") and a handful of other barrier-busting popcorn flicks ("The Abyss," "Terminator 2," etc.).

This week's New Yorker features an absurdly long, glowing and straight-up amazing profile of the director. The angle is of the "mad genius" variety, and after perusing its pages, I can't say I disagree with the author's assessment. Dana Goodyear's piece brims with so many remarkable quotes from Cameron and those that have worked with him that we had to gather them all together for you. Read More...

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Jackson Rathbone has been working his butt off this year, though most of what he's been working on wont be seen by the public until 2010. He finished filming M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender" and "New Moon" earlier this year, is completing his final two weeks of filming for "Eclipse" right now, and when we caught up with him last week, was working the dual roles of producer and actor on his indie flick, "Girlfriend." Oh yeah, and hes in the process for gearing up for a 100 city tour with his band, 100 Monkeys.

"I just want to work. I don't sleep," Jackson admitted with a laugh.

That was literally the case when we met up with him last week. Both he and bandmate/co-"Girlfriend" star and producer Jerad Anderson had hopped a plane from Vancouver the night before and started working when they landed. He said when he wrapped filming on "Girlfriend," he would jump on a plane back to Vancouver and pick up filming on "Eclipse" again.

Yesterday marked exactly one month until the release of "New Moon." I know a bunch of you readers are excited for it. Hell, I'm even a little excited. I always love a good event release, and I've been more impressed by the brief bits of action shown in the "New Moon" trailers than I was by the entirety of "Twilight."

To celebrate the almost-release of "New Moon," we added a new crop of images to our flipbook gallery. The pic below is just a sampling; click it to check out all of the new hotness.

This morning's Daily TwitPic brings together a talented trio of performers into one mildly disturbing image. Will Ferrell hardly needs any introduction. The "Saturday Night Live" alum exists somewhere in the suburbs of pop culture's nerve center. It's been awhile since he had an "Anchorman"-level success, but his fans remain numerous.

Standing off on the right side of the pic is veteran actor Charles Napier. Here's a guy that puts the "working" into "working actor." He has 190 screen credits in film and TV according to IMDB, including roles in classics like "The Silence of the Lambs," "The Blues Brothers" and -- a personal favorite -- "The Cable Guy" (one of Jim Carrey's cop buddies). Standing between the two men is Ken Jeong, who had a solid summer with notable appearances in "The Hangover" and -- as you can tell from the writing on his chest -- "The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard," which Napier also appeared in. There must have been a "New Moon"-related tweet mandate out today, because the faces of "Twilight" clogged my Twitter feed today. David Slade posted an "Eclipse" update, Peter Facinelli TwitPic'd from his makeup chair and BooBoo Stewart posted a photo op moment with Latoya Jackson. Even Gil Birmingham contributed an off-screen group shot.

Candid pics showed up from non-"Twilight"-ers as well, though. Ken Jeong, Sarah Silverman and Eli Roth are all prominently features in today's tweet mix, in addition to Rainn Wilson on Bill Cosby and Mark Webber's on-set shot from his new movie "The Lie." It's a photo-heavy day full of links in the Twitter-Wood report for October 20, 2009. Read More...
