Do you feel that? The world just got a lot less funny. Comedy icon and TV personality Soupy Sales (born Milton Supman) left us late yesterday at the age of 83, the Los Angeles Times reports. He'd spent the past week in a Bronx, NY hospital in steady decline after years of battling a variety of health issues. Sales leaves behind a great legacy and a large family, including Trudy Carson Sales, his wife of 29 years, two sons, a brother and four grandchildren. Our thoughts are with them all on this difficult day.

Sales was perhaps best known for his long-running sketch comedy TV series, which ran at varying times between 1959 and 1979. "The Soupy Sales Show" operated under several different names and locations during its on-again/off-again run, but it was always marked by a cast of wacky characters -- of both the human and puppet varieties -- notable guest celebrities (a varied list, from Frank Sinatra to Alice Cooper), short, punchy sketches, and thrown pies. There's no "official" tally, but Sales claimed that he'd been hit by more than 25,000 pies over the course of his lifetime. An impressive legacy for any comedian to leave behind, to say the least. David Slade's still in the thick of "Eclipse" filming, and in his most recent tweetage from the set, it sounds like there's some violence in the mountains getting underway with some celebration on the side. A few of his cast members still seem to have Rome on their minds, which is understandable given the "New Moon" footage premiering there.

In completely non-"Twilight"-related posting, Ashton Kutcher's been hanging out with Barbra Streisand and Jeremy Piven headed out to an event being held by Matt Damon in San Francisco. Meanwhile, Ice-T's been shooting up the post-apocalyptic world of "Borderlands." To find out what he thoughts of it, as well as what Amanda Bynes thinks of marriage and what Arnold Schwarzenegger's been up to with a bunch of boy scouts, click onward to the Twitter-Wood report for October 22, 2009. Yeah, it wasn't really a full "New Moon" screening. In truth, a bunch of new scenes from the movie, which hits theaters on November 20, had their world premiere at the 4th International Rome Film Festival. And while the red carpet wasn't quite as populous as it will be when the real premieres start rolling out, there were still a fair few "Twilight" peeps on-hand to enjoy the festivities. Check out all of the beautiful people in our flipbook gallery by clicking the pic below.

The five of you who frequent MTV Movies Blog and happen to watch "Dollhouse" may have noticed that there was no recap for last week's episode. That's because, well, there was no episode last week — and you better get used to that absence, because "Dollhouse" is about to leave the airwaves.

Before your panic attack begins in earnest, relax: "Dollhouse" isn't canceled — at least not yet — but it's looking more and more inevitable that Joss Whedon's struggling series will soon leave television for good, as seen by Fox's recent decision to pull "Dollhouse" from November sweeps. The below video is an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at "Gentlemen Broncos," the third feature from "Napoleon Dynamite" director Jared Hess. The story -- involving a teenager and aspiring author whose idea is stolen by a noted writer -- is absent here; the focus instead is on the handling of a deadly weapon. A dart gun might not seem so dangerous, but coat one of those projectiles with poison and you've got a silent-but-deadly alternative to too-loud handguns, rifles, machine guns, rocket launchers, etc.

Michael Bay could learn a thing or two from this kind of subtlety.

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: When we had the chance to interview Jackson Rathbone last week on the set of his new film, "Girlfriend," we couldn't resist asking him some heavy questions, including (but not limited to) whether "Breaking Dawn" will be released as one film or two.

Now, you may be saying to yourself, isn't "Breaking Dawn" set to be released in 2011? Haven't the two movies that come before it not even be released yet? Shouldn't you be asking questions about, say, "New Moon," which comes out in less than a month?

If you've been keeping track of our Jackson covering on Hollywood Crush and MTV.com over the past week, you'd know we already addressed those questions, but still couldn't resist trying to get a little inside scoop on what could possibly be happening (since we know Melissa Rosenberg is going to be penning the screenplay, so at least the ball is rolling).

Welcome to Gore Girls! MTV contributor Terri Schwartz doesn't know crap about the horror genre, and she's volunteered to be our Movies Blog guinea pig. She has a good guide too. Fellow contributor Jenni Miller is a bonafide horror enthusiast, and she's willing to walk Terri through her formative experiences with blood, guts, monsters and maniacs. Together, this dynamic duo are horror's own odd couple, THE GORE GIRLS!!! Good luck Terri... you're definitely going to need it.

"Saw" really needs very little introduction. The series has come a long way since the original hit theaters just a couple days before Halloween in 2004, but that first movie is still ingrained in the minds of anyone who saw it. Two men awaken, chained up on opposite sides of a sealed room. Between them lies a corpse with a tape deck in one hand and a handgun in the other. They soon learn that they are pawns in a deadly test put to them by a sadistic serial killer known as Jigsaw. Blood-letting ensues. See what the Gore Girls thought after the jump. Read More...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: As longtime readers know, we've been closely following the ups and downs of a potential adaptation of Brian Bendis' graphic novel "Torso" for quite a while now. The crime drama follows a post-Untouchables Eliot Ness as he investigates the one of the nation's first serial killers, and at one point in the project's move to the big screen, David Fincher was attached to direct with Matt Damon, Casey Affleck and Rachel McAdams tagged for lead roles.

While the project initially attracted significant buzz, Paramount let its rights to the adaptation expire back in January, leaving many people—including Bendis himself—uncertain if it had a future in Hollywood. However, just like any good comic book character, the project isn't staying dead for very long, and Bendis revealed during a recent visit to Splash Page HQ that the "Torso" movie has found momentum once again.

"A week ago I had final, but this weekend, not so much with the final," said Bendis when I asked if he had a "final word" on the project's status.

Six years! Six movies! Can you believe it? It seems like it was just yesterday we were all hearing about this twisted short film by some whippersnappers named James Wan and Leigh Whannell, but today their baby "Saw" is the flagship franchise for the entire horror film industry. Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), the series' constant villain, has joined the pantheon of scary movie greats like Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers. It's even recognized as the series that brought the horror subgenre of "torture porn" to the masses. Yes, it's a different world we live in.

Indeed it's hard to imagine a world without "Saw". And why should we expect there to ever be such a thing? The "Saw VI" writing team of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton are already signed on to work through "Saw VIII." Seeing as how people are still turning out in droves to see Jigsaw's latest deathtraps every autumn, we can safely assume that "Saw" will be around to celebrate its tin anniversary on the big screen in 2014.
