Joss WhedonNews broke yesterday that Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse" is getting pulled from Fox for the month of November, signaling the network's lack of faith in the Eliza Dushku-starring show's prospects going forward.

While the removal of "Dollhouse" from sweeps month wasn't exactly a shocker to anybody following the series' downward spiral in both the creative and commercial departments, it did prompt the show's much-beloved creator to speak out.

Following an open letter posted at The TV Addict, Whedon took to his own blog to address some of the growing concerns about "Dollhouse" and the show's November absence. Read More...

As fans eagerly await the release of "Michael Jackson's This Is It," musicians are sitting down to recall the overwhelming influence that the pop icon had on the music industry. Common spoke to MTV News about Jackson, noting that he can't wait to go to the theater to see the documentary highlighting the last performance footage from the legend.

"I'm very interested in 'This Is It.' I mean, I look at Michael Jackson and see that he was the brightest star to ever exist on this earth," he told MTV News. "Like the greatest star that we ever witnessed and I think that the world will ever witness."

One of the Kevin Smith projects that's been percolating for awhile is a horror movie he's been referring to as "Red State." It would be a considerable change of pace for the filmmaker, who is known best for his sharp dialogue and geek-pleasing cultural references. How big a change, you ask? "The dream would be to have people watch the movie and flat out not believe that I made it," he told MTV in an interview last year. With Halloween coming up, Splash Page editor Rick Marshall couldn't help but ask Smith for an update on the progress of the project in a recent interview, which you can check out in the video below.

"'Red State' has been tough to find f---ing money for," he said, in his typically profane manner. "Finding cash has been difficult. It's not a commercial movie by any stretch of the imagination." This isn't to say that big money is necessarily required to make "Red State" happen. In fact, some of the obstacles Smith's encountered have been internal. Read More...

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Taylor Lautner best watch his back. Though all the publicity for "Twilight" follow-up "New Moon" would have us believe Taylor is the star of this vampire romance, judging from another new TV spot on Yahoo Movies!, Welsh actor Michael Sheen, who plays fiendish vampire Aro, may just steal the show.

While yesterday's "Event" spot focused on the rising tension between Edward and Jacob, "Volturi Fight" features a showdown between Edward (Robert Pattinson) and the ruling coven's henchman Felix (Daniel Cudmore). The clip opens on Aro contemplating Bella's (Kristen Stewart) fate.

Neill BlomkampAfter the shocking success of "District 9," it's a wonder that director Neill Blomkamp hasn't been re-approached to come back to "Halo," the video game adaptation that he and producer Peter Jackson were attached to long before the South Africa-set science fiction film.

But Blomkamp did something in "District 9" that isn't accomplished nearly enough these days — he created an entirely original property, and that's what he's looking to do again with his next feature film.

According to Variety, the filmmaker is teaming up with Media Rights Capital for a brand new science fiction project. While currently untitled, it appears that the movie will not be a sequel to "District 9." Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: While a Sarlacc may take over a thousand years to fully digest its prey, the pop-culture news cycle has proven once again to be the complete opposite — devouring and spitting out a new rumor about the "Star Wars" series in less than 24 hours this week. But what makes fans think there would be a new trilogy in the first place? And where should the most successful movie franchise of all time go from here?

The hijinks began Wednesday evening (October 21), when 3-D-movie-focused blog MarketSaw reported that it had an internal source who'd infiltrated the trusted circle of George Lucas like Princess Leia in a Boushh costume. According to the "absolutely connected" source, Lucas is making secret plans to create a new trilogy of films that will be shot in stereoscopic 3-D — and could be directed by such filmmakers as Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola. A mere four hours later, Ain't It Cool News had a Lucasfilm rep insisting "We do not have any Star Wars theatrical movies planned," and the ridicule began.

Last week, Jessica Biel revealed exclusively to MTV some of the first hard details about her character in director Joe Carnahan's big screen adaptation of "The A-Team." She'll play Carissa Sosa, a Department of Defense flunkie who has a romantic history with A-Team honcho Faceman (Bradley Cooper). Presuming the flick follows the action genre mold, Sosa will likely spend much of the movie pursuing Faceman and his pals until circumstances force them all to work together against a greater threat. Or something like that. Remember: this is pure speculation.

If facts are what you're looking for, there are some more to share on "The A-Team." Earlier this week, "Entertainment Tonight" reported from the set of the movie in a short video clip featuring interviews with Cooper, Biel and B.A. Baracus actor and UFC champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. You also get a brief, up-close glimpse of "District 9" star Sharlto Copley in his full "Howling Mad" Murdock get-up, but Liam Neeson's Hannibal is notably absent. Check out the video-y goodness after the jump. Read More...

Anyone who's worried that the short length of time between pop legend Michael Jackson's death and the October 28 release of the upcoming documentary "This Is It" will result in an inferior product would do well to check out this clip. Whatever your opinions might be of his ever-evolving musical style, the Jackson we've seen in clips so far was just as vital a showman as he was when he first made a name for himself. This particular clip is a very well cut up sequence of dance shots, set to the beat of "They Don't Care About Us." Check it out.

For Friday's Daily TwitPic, I'm sending you readers off into your weekend with a heartwarming scene. California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (aka The Gubernator!!) met with a group of kids to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. If Schwarzenegger's accompanying tweet is to be believed, the organization put in 35 million hours of service in the past year.

The centennial anniversary for the Boy Scouts of America is technically not until February. The photo op you'll find after the jump really came about to honor the Senate-approved creation of "Boy Scouts of America Day," the first of which will be on February 8, 2010. While it's great that Schwarzenegger takes the time to honor momentous occasions such as this, I'll be happier when the big lug finishes his term and gets back to what really matters: kicking ass and blowing up robots. Who's with me? Read More...
