Soupy Sales, Christian Serratos Proclaims 'Eclipse' Wrap And Twitter On Xbox In Today's Twitter-Wood

The "last day on the battlefield" that David Slade tweeted about must have ended well, since Christian Serratos tweeted triumphantly that "Eclipse" filming wrapped in Vancouver yesterday. Elsewhere, he co-star Jodelle Ferland struggled with her Twitter icon after accidentally covering up her face with a lemon. Such have been the trials and tribulations in the Twitter world of "Twilight."

Miranda Cosgrove, meanwhile, didn't seem to be struggling with the new pair of glasses she TwitPic'd a look at for her followers to evaluate. Nor did Felicia Day seem to have any trouble with her new Twitter functionality on Xbox Live, which she appears to have installed. Witch-Centric 'Wicked' Adds To The Ever-Growing List Of Creature Crush Features

Vampires, fairies and werewolves can all take a hike, as there's a new beast coming to Hollywood with much more in common with Harry Potter than any of those other creatures — except for its appeal to the teenage romance crowd, of course.

Variety reports that DreamWorks has acquired the rights to "Wicked," a young adult novel series written by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie. Aaron and Matthew Benay will write the adaptation for The Gotham Group, which will produce the film.

"Wicked" focuses on a young woman who — much like the aforementioned Potter — discovers that she is descended from a powerful lineage of witches. Things get even more complicated for the newly discovered witch when she falls in love with a boy from a rival coven of wizardry. Read More...

J.J. Abrams Has 'Some Very Broad Stroke Ideas' For The 'Star Trek' Sequel, Only On MTV

FROM MTV.COM: What's the bigger challenge: rebooting an iconic sci-fi franchise that had lapsed into disrepair, like an interstellar spacecraft whose warp drive missed a couple of tune-ups and could no longer handle faster-than-light-speed travel? Or following up that triumphant reboot with a flick that not only proves to be a worthy successor, but which sets fanboys' geek phasers on "Oh, hell yeah!"?

Such is the conundrum facing "Star Trek" director J.J. Abrams and his creative team as they begin to brainstorm ideas for a sequel to May's $258 million-grossing hit. "The first one did what it was required to do, which was bring the family together and reset," Abrams explained in an interview with MTV News. "It was a bridge, no pun intended, between what came before, what the 'Star Trek' people knew and the 'Star Trek' of now. And that was the heavy lifting of the first film."

EXCLUSIVE: 'Star Trek' Movies And TV Series 'Can Definitely Co-Exist,' JJ Abrams Says

One of the better event blockbusters of the year was undoubtedly J.J. Abrams' franchise reboot of "Star Trek." It's been a lot of months and a lot of movies since that May release, but it's still a heavily anticipated home video release for this holiday season. He's got an auteur's sensibilities, and each successive bit of work he turns out brings that fact into clearer focus.

As a man who straddles both film and television, "Star Trek" is an amazingly good fit for Abrams. And now that he's well and truly nailed the movies side of things, one has to wonder what his plans might be for the small screen. After all, that's really where he defined himself, with series' like "Felicity" and "Alias." Wishing Ryan Reynolds A Happy 33!

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Whether he's slaying vampires with stakes or slaying audiences with laughter, there's one thing that everybody can agree upon when it comes to actor Ryan Reynolds — he's pretty awesome.

The Canadian-born actor, recently seen in this summer's "The Proposal" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," turned 33 years-old today, prompting the crew here at Birthday Bash — which mostly consists of me, but I like referring to myself as a team — to wish the erstwhile Van Wilder a very happy birthday!

If you're not as convinced as I am that Reynolds is a fantastic Hollywood icon worth celebrating, then please indulge me as I run down five reasons we should all be thankful for the actor's continually evolving career.

'Saw' Traps That Didn't Make Jigsaw's Final Cut

Rube Goldberg machines are awesome. There's nothing quite like watching an absurd, elaborate series of actions and reactions. It's tricky stuff, making sure disparate mechanical parts that weren't designed specifically to work together operate in concert. Can you imagine what it's like setting up one that could hurt you? Hell, what about one that's intentionally designed to kill somebody, like the ones deranged killer Jigsaw sets up in the "Saw" movies?

Imagine the hours upon hours it takes to set up those elaborate deathtraps. How many tetanus shots he must need after sticking himself with rusty power tools. How many vaccinations he must require from handling all those used syringes. Hell, how many times the poor bastard has stubbed his toe after dropping that damn puppet. He's bound to have set up some traps that plain don't work, schemes that looked great on paper but just didn't prove up to the challenge of potentially killing an FBI agent. So let's take a moment to reflect on what are undoubtedly Jigsaw's greatest failures, those wily death traps that just didn't cut the mustard. Read More...

'Season Of The Witch' Stars Nicolas Cage And Looks Amazing

Want to see crazy Nic Cage being crazy? I love this guy. He makes the strangest choices with his career, and I mean that in an awesome way. From "Leaving Las Vegas" to "Face/Off"?! "Con Air"? "The Wicker Man"? Freakin' "G-Force"? Cage is the best. I don't even want to know what this "Season of the Witch" wackiness is all about; I just want to go in cold and behold the actor in all of his deranged fury.

So "Witch" sounds like a medieval-era, swords & sorcery road movie. Knights bring a suspected witch to a monastery, only to learn that she might be behind the Black Plague. The trailer carries the strong scent of Sam Raimi. In short, I dig. You will too.

Charlize Theron Kisses Another Lady For $140,000 In Support Of A Good Cause

Charlize Theron isn't only up for a role in "Mad Max 4." No. She's also been keeping busy... by getting busy!

Last night, Charlize kissed a girl. A woman really, from the look of things. Hard to tell with their faces smashed together like that, isn't it? The kiss -- and the $140,000 that paid for it -- was part of a charity event supporting OneXOne, an organization committed to helping children in developing regions. You may remember OneXOne from the recent "Entourage" season finale, in which Matt Damon, as himself, hassled movie star Vinnie Chase (Adrian Grenier) to get involved.

Theron was initially on stage to auction off a trip to Africa, complete with a Nelson Mandela meet-and-greet, Us Magazine reports. The bidding topped out at $37,000, so the the actress sweetened the deal by offering up a 7-second kiss to a man for $130,000. Kevin Smith Wants To Adapt An Untouched Comic

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Several months ago, "X-Men: The Last Stand" director Brett Ratner told MTV News that there are few characters left in comic books for him to adapt—and while that may be true for the eventual "Youngblood" filmmaker, it's certainly not true for Kevin Smith.

Smith, who recently made a colorful appeal for Jon Hamm to star as both Superman and Batman, declared that there is one comic book character that has yet to be tapped, one franchise that remains to be treated with the respect and dignity it deserves on the big screen—and one hero that wears a snug-fitting diaper.

"I think there's a brilliant, revisionist take to be done on 'Hot Stuff, the Little Devil,'" Smith told MTV News.
