Episode Title: "137 Sekunden"
Written by: David S. Goyer & Marc Guggenheim
The Story: Agent Demetri Noh (John Cho) gets a mix of confounding clues and gory details about his potential death on March 15, 2010. Elsewhere, Agent Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes) follows up on a lead in Germany, meeting with an imprisoned Nazi (Curt Lowens) that allegedly knows why the blackout occurred in the first place.
He Was On My Board: It was pretty much a war of the minds between Benford and Rudolf Geyer, the elderly Nazi that promised to deliver important information regarding the blackout in exchange for his freedom. Of course, he knew pretty much nothing useful — that's the nature of these types of shows, people — but Lowens' performance was nonetheless riveting and I'm look forward to seeing more of him in the – *ahem* – future.
Oh Noh: Things aren't looking so bright for Demetri, who is apparently going to be the proud owner of three chest-bound bullets come March. But his fiance Zoey (Gabrielle Union) had a flash-forward of their eventual wedding, so it's possible that he'll somehow survive his upcoming encounter. I certainly hope so — his dramatic storyline combined with his hilarious dialogue ("I know what a bong is!") are proof enough that Cho is one of the show's greatest assets.
The Father's Quest: Color me surprised, but my favorite subplot of the episode involved recovering alcoholic Aaron Stark (Brian F. O'Byrne), who saw his dead daughter Tracy very much alive in the future. I've loved the actor since his brief stint on HBO's "Oz," and he proved himself quite the compelling character tonight. Can't wait to see where his story goes.
Best Quote: "So, the Earth farted, then we blacked out?" – Agent Vreede (Barry Shabaka Henley)
Verdict: Easily the least action-heavy episode of "FlashForward" to date, but nonetheless my favorite one so far thanks to some truly great characterization. I'm starting to get a real handle on the various personalities of the show, and the episode's ending moments even introduced a compelling new angle to the overarching mystery — namely, why are the world's crows dying off?
The Future: Olivia Benford (Sonya Walger) throws a temper tantrum in the operating room, while Demetri Noh reveals to Mark Benford that he's not just going to die before April 29, 2010 — he's going to be murdered. Also, Dominic Monaghan is allegedly showing up — and not a moment too soon!
What did you think of tonight's "FlashForward"?
