FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: When we caught up with rising young star Anna Kendrick at the Toronto Film Festival, where she's promoting her co-starring role with George Clooney in "Up in the Air," we had one big question in mind...has she seen the brand new trailer for "New Moon"?

"I did," she exclaimed, "[but] it was a very, very small video and it was very blurry, so I'm looking forward to seeing it in a big theater." Well, that makes two of us, Anna, but if you want to see the expanded trailer with even more never-before-seen footage, you'll have to tune into the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT where we're airing the exclusive full-length trailer for "New Moon" for the first time. Check out Anna's thoughts below, including her comparison between heartthrobs Robert Pattinson and Clooney.

After weeks upon weeks of violent fare dominating the movie scene, most box office watchers -- myself included -- expected a similar result at theaters this weekend. Considering Friday's results, however, there's a new lesson to be learned in Tinsel Town: never underestimate Tyler Perry. Read More...

On Sunday night at the Video Music Awards, nearly three months after Michael Jackson passed away, MTV will unveil the first ever trailer from "This Is It," the behind-the-scenes look at the King of Pop's final days as he prepared for a series of comeback concerts in London.

The footage is truly amazing, filled with the fallen icon's classic tunes and eye-opening insight into his creative process. It's such remarkable stuff that we wanted to give you a sneak peek a day before the main event, which is why we've posted some snippets of the footage online.

In the teaser clip, you get an advance look at Jackson and his backup dancers in full "Thriller" costume, practicing a dance that will be familiar to any fan of the timeless music video. You'll see him busting familiar moves and generally bringing an all-business intensity to his performances. And then there are the costumes: Jackson in sunglasses and a bright-blue dress shirt, Jackson wearing sparkly gold pants and a silver jacket as he rocks out alongside a guitarist, Jackson in an all-white suit, Jackson in a blood-red shirt when he slides across the stage on his knees.

"This Is It" won't come out in theaters until October 28, but hit play on this video to check out the King of Pop in action. And be sure to tune in on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET to watch the full trailer.

Far closer in spirit and structure to his debut flick, "Thank You for Smoking," than "Juno," Jason Reitman's latest effort clearly is a step up in his increasingly exciting film career. Undeniably moving and heartfelt, "Up in the Air" is one of the year's best and a surefire awards contender for George Clooney, Reitman, and perhaps Vera Farmiga.

The film has been scorching through Toronto, leaving virtually everyone who's seen it gushing about it as the best thing since Billy Wilder helmed "The Apartment." Okay, maybe not THAT much gushing but close. Read More...

"Twilight" frustrations bubbled up in the Twitter-Wood feed today, though I'm not sure what some of them were about precisely. David Slade reiterated his irritation at planes flying over his "Eclipse" set, which may have been compounded by problems involving goats. Meanwhile, Christian Serratos cryptically sounded off with her desire to see "New Moon," which apparently she is not allowed to do quite yet.

Elsewhere, photos from Eliza Dushku and Emmy Rossum showed up with flannel shirt thoughts and a mysterious coconut left in the back of a taxi cab. You really don't know where that's been, Emmy. (Be safe.) Sarah Silverman wins the Twitter Pic of the Day award, though. Click on down, and I think you'll see why. It's in the Twitter-Wood report for September 11, 2009. Read More...

Jonas Akerlund is an odd duck amongst 2009 MTV VMA nominees with past Hollywood feature experience. He's been around for a long time, though not always as a director. In the early '80s, Akerlund was a member of the Swedish metal band, Bathory. His first gig directing a music video was for "Bewitched," by Candlemass (another Swedish metal outfit), in 1988.

Akerlund hit it big with his work for Roxette in the early '90s, and he went on to direct a number of well-received music videos for Prodigy ("Smack My B-tch Up"), U2 ("Beautiful Day") and Metallica ("Whiskey in the Jar"). He also did a number of videos for Madonna, including 1998's "Ray of Light," which earned him a Moonman for Best Direction. Check out Akerlund's video for Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" below, then hit the jump for more.

Guillermo del Toro's D-related announcement is now out of the bag. The renowned director has produced some of the darkest visions of fantastic landscapes and animated created in recent popular cinema with "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Hellboy." Now, he will partner with the Walt Disney Company to leverage that imagination and produce new films under the label "Disney Double Dare You." Announced at the company's D23 Expo, the new partnership will look to create new all-ages animated projects that still manage to thrill and frighten.

"It is part of the Disney canon to create thrilling, unforgettable moments and villains in all their classic films," del Toro said. "It is my privilege for DDY to continue in this tradition." Read More...

We already knew that "Forrest Gump" director Robert Zemeckis was teaming up with Disney to remake or reboot or adapt or do something with this week's Sick Day Stash pick, the Beatles' classic "Yellow Submarine." Well now we know more, fresh from Disney's D23 Expo.

As I -- and basically anyone else who follows this sort of news -- predicted following the initial report, the performance capture-animated feature will be presented in 3-D. The "new voyage to Pepperland" will include all 16 Beatles songs featured in the original film. Sounds an awful lot like it's going to be a (fairly) straight remake of the original, in which The Beatles set off on a voyage to save the undersea kingdom of Pepperland from the nefarious Blue Meanies. I'm honestly not sure whether to feel thrilled or mortified. Read More...

Let's just let the picture do the 1,000 words of talking, shall we?

The news comes out of Disney's currently-underway D23 Expo. Apparently, "Pirates" star Johnny Depp came riding into the stadium on a pirate ship to announce the title.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." Summer 2011. Get pumped kids.

FROM MTV.COM: Fans asked and Summit Entertainment has delivered. The second full-length "New Moon" trailer contains everything the first teaser trailer and the "Meet Jacob Black" trailer have not: more Volturi, more werewolves and more visions of Edward. The newest trailer is being shown before screenings of "Sorority Row" (out today), but an extended version will also be exclusively shown at the VMAs on Sunday, presented by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

If the focus of the "New Moon" teaser trailer was on the breakup, and the focus of "Meet Jacob Black" was, obviously, to introduce a new werewolf Jacob, then the focus of this newest trailer is on what comes next. Most of the clip is set in Italy at the end of the film, when Bella is (spoiler!) trying to stop Edward from killing himself by turning himself over to the Volturi.
