Anybody who is watching "Watchmen" actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan's career will surely tell you the same thing -- the man's keeping busy. Already filming "The Losers" and hoping for a role in "Lobo," Morgan will soon sign on the dotted line for yet another well-known franchise.

According to Variety, Morgan is nearly set to star in "Red Dawn," the modern update of the 1984 classic. The new version is directed by Dan Bradley from a screenplay by Carl Ellsworth and Jeremy Passmore.

The new "Red Dawn" focuses on a group of teenagers that form a guerrilla resistance against Chinese and Russian soldiers that have invaded the United States. Morgan is set to play the leader of a U.S. Special Forces team that discovers the teenage freedom fighters.

Aside from Morgan, "Red Dawn" stars "Star Trek" actor Chris Hemsworth and "The Wackness" lead Josh Peck as Jed and Matt Eckert, the two brothers previously played by Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen in the first film. The on-screen collision of Hemsworth and Morgan represents a clash of different comic book properties -- Hemsworth is starring in "Thor" for Marvel, while Morgan's already featured in the aforementioned "Watchmen" and "The Losers."

Personally, I kind of wish that Morgan was playing Jed and Matt's father, a role that "Lost" actor Brett Cullen is allegedly playing. Morgan's portrayed the rough-and-tough type before, so his turn as a Special Forces commando feels a bit typecast in my opinion.

Then again, he's played the fatherly type on "Supernatural" and "Weeds," as well. I guess I just want to hear Morgan shout "Avenge me!!!" when "Red Dawn" hits theaters next year. Is that so wrong?

Does Morgan's casting make you more interested in "Red Dawn," or would you rather him play a different character in the film? Are you nervous at the prospect of the remake? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter!

Okay, look. "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" wasn't great. It's been out for more than a year, so let's be honest here. It had some good moments, but the shift from supernatural curios and relics to sci-fi alien overlords was not the right move. Star Harrison Ford clearly has some more Indy in him and Shia LaBeouf did a decent job of not fumbling the torch that Ford supposedly passed his way.

All that said, "Crystal Skull" fell short for a variety of reasons. Some might even argue that it's time to put Steven Spielberg's classic series to bed. Not me though. Indy is a great character, Ford is still an immensely likable actor and there are plenty of archeological ghost stories for him to pursue that have nothing to do with aliens. I'm not the only one who thinks so either. Read More...

Is Peter Berg's adaptation of the sci-fi classic "Dune" going to happen? Almost two years have passed since the director confirmed his involvement with the project, a potential third take on Frank Herbert's 1965 novel after David Lynch's '84 movie and a Sci Fi Channel miniseries in 2000. While a first draft of the script has been completed, we were starting to wonder if Berg's "Dune" was one of those tantalizing cinematic possibilities that just never became a big screen reality.

Not so, Berg told MTV News. "Dune" is very much on—and to prove it, the director shared some details about what he has planned. Read More...

She may have become a bit typecast over the last few years with lighthearted romances like “He’s Just Not That Into You,” “The Break-Up” and “Along Came Polly,” but one of the cool things about Jennifer Aniston is that the girl does have a neat little indie streak buried deep inside her. With flicks like “The Good Girl,” “The Iron Giant” and “Office Space,” she has the guts to lend her star power to something different and daring from time to time – and in an upcoming flick, it sounds like she might be singing that tune once again.

“I’m taking time off until January or February even and diving into my production company, Echo, with projects that we’re developing… ’Goree Girls’ is the one I’m most excited about,” explained the star, citing the name of a period drama she’s been developing for more than a year. “[The script is based on] an article from Texas Monthly that Skip Hollandsworth wrote. It’s about the first female country/western band.” Read More...

"Jennifer's Body" is out soon. As in "this Friday" soon. In it, Megan Fox plays a high school cheerleader who is possessed by some evil force. She uses her innate hotness to lure male classmates into compromising situations... and then consume their souls. Amanda Seyfried plays her good-girl best friend, a sort of moral anchor as Fox's character slips deeper into the darkness. At some point, the two share a kiss.

You've already heard how Fox feels about the tender moment. Now hear Seyfried's side of the story in the video below.

Oh Sarah Silverman. Always with the raunchy, vaguely unsettling comedy. Today's Daily TwitPic finds the comedienne in a... compromised position. A few questions come to mind:

(1) Who is that guy?
(2) Why is he wearing a shiny red dress?
(3) Why are Sarah and her friend still fully dressed?
(4) Who is Sarah looking at and why is she so horrified?

Be warned, there's a cuss word in Ms. Silverman's TwitPic description. Probably nothing you haven't seen before... just saying. I hope y'all enjoyed the VMAs last night. While you're here, why don't you truck on over to MTV.com and check out how Kanye West made an ass of himself and other highlights. Read More...

UPDATE: Let's try that again. Here's the "New Moon" trailer, in perfect working order.

Here it is, Twilighters. The trailer you've all been waiting for. Probably the last theatrical trailer we'll see for "New Moon" before it hits theaters on November 20. It's a good one too. Lots of action, lots of shirtless RPattz -- something I know you ladies love -- and lots of icy Volturi stares. You get to see what makes Bella crash her motorbike, something only hinted at in the previous trailer.

There are some pretty spoiler-heavy moments, but I guess the rules need to be adjusted when you're dealing with an adaptation. A newcomer's spoiler is a die-hard "Twilight" fan's money shot. Enjoy the new Mooniness, y'all.

There are catchier headlines, and more descriptive ones. The one up there is dead-on accurate. The trailer for "Michael Jackson's This Is It" sells what looks to be a fantastic music documentary. From the look of things, director Kenny Ortega -- who is no stranger to musical spectacle following his work on the three "High School Musical" movies -- really made the most of the footage he had to work with.

For those who don't know, "Michael Jackson's This Is It" is a documentary pieced together using footage from rehearsals for the fallen pop star's planned residency at London's O2 Arena. Jackson passed away before those shows happened of course, but the preparations were far enough along that Ortega had plenty of material to work with. The evidence is all down there in the trailer...

1. "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" ($25 million)
2. "9" ($11 million)
3. "Inglourious Basterds" ($6.6 million)
4. "All About Steve" ($6 million)
5. "The Final Destination" ($5.7 million)

Despite the plethora of R-rated or similarly violent films at the box office this weekend, Tyler Perry's "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" proved the most cunning when it comes to earning theatergoers' hard-earned cash. "I Can Do Bad" took in $25 million over the course of the weekend, capitalizing on the $5 million lead it boasted over the competition going into Saturday morning. Still, Perry's "Bad" was only his third best opening ever, falling short to his earlier 2009 effort "Madea Goes To Jail," which made $41 million in its first weekend. Read More...

As children of the '80s, we can honestly say one of the more interesting projects out there is MTV's forthcoming reboot of "Teen Wolf," the cheeseball films perhaps best known for showcasing a hairy Michael J. Fox shooting hoops in werewolf garb. This time, though, MTV is planning to strip away most of the comedy, instead labeling the show as a dramatic thriller.

Whoever is cast in the reborn franchise may want to take note of our interview today with Jason Bateman, the "Up in the Air" star who walked the carpet at the 2009 Toronto Film Festival. See, before his recent run of blockbuster films and his now-legendary series "Arrested Development," Bateman was a young struggling actor who snagged the lead role in "Teen Wolf Too," the 1987 sequel to the original. So what did advice did Bateman have to offer the next generation? "Try to pitch the writers to be a fan of electrolysis," he joked. Watch the video below for more.
