Warmoth is out of town, covering something for @multiplayers. So you Twitter-Wood-ers are stuck with me, your friendly neighborhood MTV Movies Blog editor. My picks aren't usually as structured as Brian's are, and today is no different. Still, there's plenty of fun, funny and fascinating pulled together for you after the jump.

First up is "Harry Potter" star Tom Felton, who's spending some vacation time with Universal Studios and Scrabble. Then we've got "Jennifer's Body" writer Diablo Cody coining a new phrase and Rob Corddry asking a ridiculous question. Also, Kevin Pollak offers a hilariously descriptive rundown of his preparations for a coming colonoscopy. Plus, sound advice from Denzel Washington (take note, Kanye-haters), observations on the female anatomy from Michael Ian Black and "The Office" star Rainn Wilson's steamy night... alone. I'm @geminibros and this is your Twitter-Wood report for September 16, 2009. Read More...

Oh vampires... you pop culture darlings. You drink the blood of humans, turn into bats, abhor garlic and melt in the sunlight. Or sparkle, depending on what kind of vampire. And yet, despite all of these potential pitfalls, you've captured our hearts. Like it or not, vampires are here to stay. At least for the next little bit; we'll see what happens once the "Twilight" series caps off with "Breaking Dawn."

While the Stephenie Meyer series continues to enthrall teens and pre-teens everywhere, other filmmakers are looking towards more mature content. There's Matt Reeves' "Let Me In" of course, an Americanized remake of Tomas Alfredson's Swedish blood-sucker flick, "Let the Right One In." And "Daywalkers." And "Priest."

Now there's another one, according to Variety: the eternally busy director/producer Ridley Scott has turned to his old pal and "Gladiator" collaborator John Logan to write an adaptation of Jonathan Ainsley's vampire novel, "The Passage." And the band plays on... Read More...

Call them "cult classics." "Guilty pleasures." "Comfort movies." We all have a mental rolodex of flicks that may not be terribly popular but, for one reason or another, they resonate in a very special way. Maybe you saw it at the right moment. Maybe you just see gold where everyone else sees feces. Whatever the case, these are the special favorites that you keep stashed away for sick days. Here are some of ours.

From "Road House" to "Point Break," there's no shortage of highly watchable Patrick Swayze films on display, but the actor's most poignant work -- particularly given recent events -- is undoubtedly "Ghost," the story of a man who had to die to learn about life. Read More...

As you Twilighters already know, Ashley Greene helped us out at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards by working the red carpet as our guest celebrity fashion reporter. She spoke to a bunch of folks, including Green Day, Best Female Video winner Taylor Swift and "Twilight" co-star Taylor Lautner. We've now collected all of those video clips into a convenient show -- a code word here at MTV News for a collection of related clips -- for you to peruse. Check out the video below for Greene's chat with Swift, or head over to the main show page for the full collection.

I’m the first to admit that remakes are rarely, if ever, a good idea. We can hardly claim, as a culture, that we prize originality over all else. We’re gluttons for the good stuff. Like movies based on 1980s cartoons? We’ll make more! Y’all like vampires in love? Have all the lovey dovey vampires you can handle! Imitation is a-okay, but giving us the exact same thing? That’s how you piss an audience off.

A remake is just a reflection of something the audience already loves, not a straight reproduction. That’s a hurdle many of 2010’s biggest movies are facing. The first six months of next year are chock full of marquee remakes, releases that are bound to stoke fan ire when they fail to meet expectations. I, however, have a solution for the makers of these films: Kanye West. Just look at his VMA outburst! Give the man a bit part in these five films, and he’ll reassure the audience that they’re not alone in their preferred choice.

Hit the jump to see where Kanye would fit best. Read More...

While the J.J. Abrams-directed "Star Trek" managed a strong showing at the box office and amongst critics, I definitely had one complaint upon disembarking from this new USS Enterprise. The film's setup is fantastic, its characters are well-established and I care about the universe... but I didn't have my fill. I wanted more.

Luckily, Abrams and the movie's co-writer Roberto Orci agree with that assessment. In an interview with the LA Times' Hero Complex, the helmers of the new "Star Trek" franchise spoke about what a potential sequel might entail and, more to the point, what a sequel needs -- which is, in a word, relevancy. Whatever disagreement it was that sent Ellen Page and Juliette Lewis into a food-fueled cat fight in yesterday's "Whip It" clip, they clearly resolve it by the time the scene in the clip below arrives. Check out Lewis, director/star Drew Barrymore and the rest of the team get psyched up as they prepare for their first roller derby match with their newest addition: Page. "Whip It," an adaptation of Shauna Cross's novel "Derby Girl," hits theaters on October 2.

Between the global box office success of "The Final Destination 3-D" and the film festival kudos for Joe Dante's "The Hole," the new wave of 3-D cinema has been validated in a way that elevates the format above being a mere trend. And everyday we're hearing about more film projects being developed for 3-D screens.

Today's two entries involve popular franchises, though their respective films will be completely different. One is an updated re-imagining of George Romero's zombie classic "Night of the Living Dead," which director Simon West ("Con Air") will produce as a CG-dependent flick directed by newbie filmmaker Zebediah De Soto. The other is the first feature film based on the stage show Blue Man Group, which is being distributed by National Geographic Entertainment. Read More...

There are a lot of fools in this world, and I pity all of them. But I most pity the fool who's not on board with the idea of bringing the classic "A-Team" TV series to the big screen. The original was gloriously cheesy, filled with bad one-liners and over-the-top action. It was a made-for-TV serial blockbuster. Mix in a $100 million+ dollar budget, and you've got a cinematic atom bomb on your hands.

The key cast has been slowly -- ever-so-slowly -- coming together. After much rumor-mongering, misreporting and illicitly obtained soundbiting, stars Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson were finally confirmed earlier this year for the roles of Faceman and Hannibal, respectively. More recently, UFC fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson was kinda-sorta confirmed for the role of B.A. Baracus (we're still waiting for official confirmation from Jackson's reps on that one). Now we have word today from Variety that Jessica Biel and "District 9" star Sharlto Copley are both in talks. Read More...

Yesterday, a group of MTV News interns were sent off to a screening of "Paranormal Activity." I hate them all. Director Oren Peli's "real" ghost story -- think "Blair Witch" -- looks terribly scary and wholly awesome. If I'd known about the screening, I would've been right there with them. Instead I'll be waiting until the film's proper release on September 25.

I'll warn you all now: with movies like this, it's often best to go in completely cold. James Dinh's writeup, which you'll find after the jump, isn't really spoiler-heavy. Still, the less you know about what you in for, the more terrified you'll likely be. Just saying. If curiosity does get the best of you, hit the jump for James' impressions. Read More...
