I usually try to maintain some degree of mystery on what the eBay Prop-Watch pick is until AFTER the break, but today's item is too cool not to rave over from the offing. "Gremlins" is a classic. Comedy/horror at its best. Director Joe Dante has been pretty quiet since 1998's "Small Soldiers" -- a highly underrated gem and definite future Sick Day Stash fodder -- but he's about to re-emerge in a big way if the buzz on his 3-D thriller "The Hole," which just picked up accolades at the Venice Film Festival, is accurate.

So. Prop-Watch. Today you're bidding on a head. A Gremlin head. Not one of those cute, cuddly Gizmo-types. The ugly, green, lizard-like beast with big cat-like eyes and two rows of gleaming white teeth. Hit the jump to see what I mean. Read More...

There is nothing quite like a killer woman. Not “killer” as in “awesome,” and I don’t mean some femme fatale either. I mean ladies who flat out kill. The killer woman is an automatic plus for almost any thriller or horror movie, a story figure with more sex appeal than a male murderer. Call me sexist, but seriously: would you rather get an eyeful of Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lechter or Megan Fox as Jennifer Check in “Jennifer’s Body”? Exactly.

Not having seen “Jennifer’s Body,” I can’t say how Fox's character measures up in cinema’s hall of killer chick fame. Do her demonic deeds measure up with Stephen King’s prodigal daughter Carrie? Is she as blood thirsty in her pursuit of eating high school boys as Natasha Henstridge in “Species”? The trailers just don’t tell me enough to know for sure!

There is, at least, a gold standard for killer chickdom. Five murderous betties do diabolical, that all others must be compared to them. Before hitting the theater this weekend, it would be wise to watch the pictures they appear in, just to see how it’s done properly. Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: It's October of 1992, and Mark Whitacre (Matt Damon), a hotshot executive at Archer Daniels Midland, the giant agricultural conglomerate, is going about his job. He has a full plate at the moment — some mysterious virus is screwing up the company's corn-syrup operation. Did you know there's corn syrup in everything — orange juice, maple syrup? It's true.

So Mark has a lot on his mind. Or at least that part of his mind that's not buzzing with a whole other swarm of odd fixations. Like ... sushi. "I wonder who went first on that one?" Mark wonders. "The guy without the grill?" There's also the threat of poison-winged butterflies. And ... polar bears! Do you realize that polar bears would be impossible to spot in their snowy Arctic habitat if it weren't for their black noses? It's true. Do you think a polar bear ever peered at his reflection in the water surrounding his ice floe and thought, "Without that nose, I'd be invisible"? Maybe. On the other hand, as Mark concludes, "That's a lot of thinking for a bear."

"It would be sexual harassment in any other business." That's what Matt Damon had to say about Michael Douglas's "chapstick" comment, a reference to the Liberace biopic the two will star in. Douglas will play the famous singer/showman and Damon, his gay lover. The duo will be under the direction of Steven Soderbergh, whose Damon-starring quirky comedy "The Informant!" hits theaters today.

In the video below you can hear Damon talking about his work with Soderbergh at last week's Toronto International Film Festival, where MTV's Josh Horowitz got to sit with him. Beware listeners: there are some sizable "Informant" spoilers in the latter half of the video, so hit stop at around 1:00/1:10 if you want to remain pure.

You'd think that "The Informant!" star Matt Damon and filmmaker Clint Eastwood would right now be preparing to promote their first collaboration, Oscar-bait "Invictus," which is due for a mid-December release. And they probably are, but that doesn't mean other business is being ignored. As Variety reports today, the director and star are all set to get the band back together for another project, titled "Hereafter."

There's not much to go on in terms of plot points just yet. The article states that Warner Bros. isn't saying much, other than describing the project as a supernatural thriller in the vein of "The Sixth Sense." I wasn't a big fan of M. Night Shyamalan's breakout, but Eastwood is a more nuanced filmmaker; here's hoping he doesn't pin this new movie's success to a single, mind-bending twist. The script comes from "Frost/Nixon" writer Peter Morgan, who will also produce alongside Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Tim Moore. Read More...

Kevin Nealon might not be a wild and crazy guy like his "Saturday Night Live" predecessor Steve Martin, but he's pretty off the axis nonetheless. Just look at today's Daily TwitPic. Who in their right mind is going to grab Sarah Silverman in what one commenter punnily described as a "Half Nealon"?

Seriously. Here's a comedienne who recorded a song with Matt Damon about having an affair behind her then-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel's back. A song very appropriately titled "I'm F--king Matt Damon." She's proven time and again that she's merciless in her comedy; Nealon is asking for trouble. Big trouble. Let's just hope for his sake that he finished what he started. Read More...

To say that Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) has been on an out-of-this-world journey is a bit misleading, seeing as she didn't vacate the planet Earth... but she still visited an entirely different Earth nonetheless.

Confused? Well, welcome to "Fringe."

The first season of the J.J. Abrams-created television series concluded with Dunham's relocation to an alternate reality in the presence of the mystifying Dr. William Bell (Leonard Nimoy), who has set up shop inside of the still-standing World Trade Center in one of presumably many distinctions between the two worlds.

But that's not where we are when the second season premiere begins. The episode, penned by Abrams and Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, opens with a car crash. Read More...

-- Natalie Portman was in Toronto earlier this week, plugging her new movie "Love and Other Impossible Pursuits." The good folks from Movieline cornered her for a chat, and they asked the actress to play their little "My Favorite Scene" game. Portman was into it; her pick was "Dirty Dancing." Which moment, you ask? Follow the link to find out! (Movieline) Read More...

If you haven't seen the T-shirts being given out to the crew for "Toy Story 3," you're definitely going to want to check out director Lee Unkrich's posts today. They're must-sees Disney and Pixar fans. I almost gave him Twitter Pic of the Day status, too, but Kevin Nealon's shot with Sarah Silverman in a headlock edged them all out. Furthermore, I couldn't pick just one side of one of the shirts to spotlight.

I've also got a nice memory of actor Henry Gibson, who passed away yesterday, thoughtfully tweeted by actor Michael McKean. You can check that out at the top of the Twitter-Wood rundown today, along with a David Slade "Eclipse" tweet, a TwitPic from Peter Facinelli out in the forest, and a note about Tom Arnold's bachelor party. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter-Wood report for September 17, 2009. Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: "Twilight" star Ashley Greene told us last week that she's been getting battered and bruised on the set of "Eclipse." Whose fault is that? Well, other than author Stephenie Meyer, who wrote some scary fight scenes into her novel, all the abuse Greene and her co-stars have been taking is thanks to director David Slade.

Although her work with the "30 Days of Night" and "Hard Candy" filmmaker had just begun, Greene said she's excited about the vision he has for "Eclipse."

"He's been really good," she told MTV News last week. "I've sat down and spoken to him and broken down the script a little bit. I definitely like his take on it. I think it's going to be good."
