I haven't actually seen Oren Peli's "Paranormal Activity" yet, but that's only because it hasn't opened in New York City. I've demanded it and a lot of you have too apparently, as Paramount has revealed that the movie will open in 20 additional markets this Friday, October 2. This is in addition to the 12 areas it is already screening in, college towns where the initial round of tickets sold out before last Friday.
If you're asking "what is 'Paranormal Activity'?" then you haven't been reading the blog lately. Peli's inventive horror/thriller is all about a couple who believe their house is haunted. To get a better idea of what's going on, they invest in a video camera and tripod setup for their bedroom. The movie is free of excessive gore (or gore of any kind, from what I hear) and expensive digital effects. It's all sleight of hand and smoke & mirrors, used to impressive effect. 20 more cities will find out firsthand this weekend. Hit the jump for the list.
